Getting to the hotel was peculiar if your not used to the area, small car park, hotel lovely, staff very attentive, room we were given could of done with a refurb but it was clean and nice touch of chilled mineral water on our arrival in the room, dinner was nice although I think a better choice on the menu would be better! Only thing is that we wasn’t directed to where the restaurant was and breakfast was served in another part of the hotel again we weren’t given this information, although the receptionist was nice he needed to give new staying guests more information like where dinner and breakfast are served and also the WiFi code instead of me having to phone reception to obtain this info, overall ok

What great value for money this stay was , on arrival we were upgraded to a superior room given a complimentary glasses of wine while we waited for our room. All the staff were so very nice and friendly and the meals could not have been better , the position of the hotel right in the centre was a added bonus .

Enjoyable break. Hotel well situated for seeing Carlisle on foot. Would have been much easier to find if we had been told that the car park is accessed via Blackfriars St. We did a couple of laps of the one way system before we found the car park. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast and plenty of choice for dinner. Will visit again, good value for money.

Return visit to hotel. Lovely comfortable hotel in great city centre location with parking. Great value for money.Stayed DBB. Food was excellent from extensive menu. Staf friendly and helpful.Well appointed room with nice toiletries and quality biscuits but in need of refurbishment- hotel does have lovely refurbished rooms. Will be back soon.

Service in restaurant on the evening was bad and maybe the staff might like to smile occassionaly .we had to go and look for someone to get our dessert and had to ask a few times for our drinks . Bit of a nightmare to get to car park at back of hotel but cant fault the hotel for anything else

Right in the centre of Carlisle, staff were very welcoming and efficient, room was large with a comfortable super king size bed and large en-suite, furnishing were a little 'tired', but were adequate and comfortable. Glass of wine on arrival and filtered bottled water in the room. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked food was nice and hot. Staff were polite and attentive without being over bearing, altogether a good stay and would willingly return.

Period hotel in central square of Carlisle. Wonderful location. Some problems owing to age of hotel but ask any staff member and they will help. I am a wheelchair user and it is usable but not ideal. Ring first to explain your needs to see if you can manage. Do not enter by car park door if in a wheelchair, but go round to front door as there is a hazardous ramp at the rear. Mobility scooters do not fit in the lift. Room was on the small side but had a large bed. Food was excellent and large portions. A very friendly hotel and I shall be visiting again.

the check in was slow, the room we stayed in was a little tired and the shower curtain wasn't very clean. Although the 3 course meal was nice, there was limited choice without paying an added charge

We stayed here for 2 night dinner bed and breakfast and it was a lovely old hotel that is well kept and clean. The food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it too. The restaurant staff were very friendly welcoming and pleasant. We would definitely recommend a stay here for anyone.

Yet another great few days away Stayed her before and never disappoints. Rooms a bit tired but spotless. Hotel doing some renovations but no noise or disruption. Food was excellent for dinner and breakfast. Will definitely return.

Arrived at the Reception desk after detour around Carlisle - Better signposting needed. Requested a walk in shower to go with the double bed as disabled. Only available for another £20 - so declined So given VERY COLD ROOM AS far from the Reception desk as they had so I could have the double bed booked online. Room had all facil but single glazed sash windows and one small heater that was not on - but others may have complained and there was a 1kw radiator type electric heater - both were inadequate - Manager informed -Other wise nice hotel - friendly staff

Easy & pleasant check in though no help offered with bags even though it was necessary to go back across the car park to access the room. The room allocated in the annex was very dated and in need of a refurb - still, it was clean and comfortable. I did check that the room allocated was the 'best available' and was told yes but I've had much nicer rooms in previous stays so I have my doubts..... Good breakfast

Lovely hotel only criticism is that pool was closed for few days maintenance. Would advise putting it on website next time. They were very apologetic. Everything else was great would definitely recommend.newly renovated room bottled water dressing gowns etc. The menu was the same for the 3 nights but a lot of variety and lovely.

As usual great Hotel,great break at this Hotel.We have been to this hotel several times & never been disappointed. We stopped in room 310 twin Beded with our dog. The food was Excellent,Standard of service very good. should BE A 4 STAR.

Lovely hotel,staff great especially Alistair,grand stairway and rooms.Great situation in centre of Carlisle shops.Food lovely and great selection,nice dining area.lovely features throughout hotel.Highly recommend this hotel for a break .you will not be disappointed.We hope to go back.Great Value for money.

Had a really lovely stay here. Only slight problem is that the post code for this hotel on this site doesn't take you directly to the hotel car park and we had to phone the hotel from another carpark to get the correct postcode and street. In a busy town as Carlisle and a one way system it was very annoying so I suggest that the correct post code should be given which is CA3 8HB, Blackfriars street. Parking was limited but the attendant was extremely helpful.
