Esplanade Hotel, Dunoon

Lovely hotel. Room OK, on 3Rd floor right next to lift which wasn't a problem until bus load of people had early checkout at 6am and we're standing right outside our door. Decoration wise the room was clean but a little dated. Food was really nice and the service was good.

not pleased at having an old fashioned shower we coud not get it to work they had get a plumber to fix the boiler surely in this day in age they should have electric showers the receptionist said you have to request it

For the price Hotel was great onour first vist we had a great room with a great view at front of hotel, our second visit the room was fine but very small all right for a couple of days. only comment is the overflow car park which is a disgrace, I dont think it would take much to tidy it up, it is enough to put you off, I almost turned away the first time, but I am glad I did not as the hotel is fine. Staff are great.

Horrific!!!! I'm not one to complain, but from "restaurant" staff arguing with customers regarding beans,being told to eat the toast(one slice) i have before ordering more, to previous guests rubbish left in the room, 1 hand towel and one bath towel for two, guests being allowed to create mayhem on the 2nd floor for 6hours. Then when complaining to reception when checking out to be told from the receptionist "oh well"!!! I would not recommend this hotel. I would not recommend eating here, do not order soup, white vegetable soup which resembled wallpaper paste to a roast beef salad consisting of HAM, half a plate of iceberg lettuce, 4 small pieces of tomato and coleslaw, the chef needs sacked. Was maybe a cheap deal but i have paid less and got so much more from a hotel. Oh and penny pinching to the extreme is not having 4 screws in the door handles. This place could be an absolute GOLDMINE but choose to let staff speak to guests with the utmost disrespect, feed us food you would not get in a prison (as seen on TV), and allow potential good customers to walk away disgusted and horrified at wasting hard earned cash on that. Disgraceful. Oh well as they may say, that was my review. Must also thank them for my "thanks for visiting email" addressed to West!!! Classy establishment, no idea where all the good reviews came from.

The hotel is as we expected having read other reviews - getting old and tired though it looks like some work has been done and may be ongoing. The room was clean but could do with minor remedial work (I did some of it myself). Dinner and breakfast were vey good. Staff were very friendly, jovial and helpful.

A very pleasanerside hotel. All staff were welcoming and friendly without being overly so. The food choice was good both at breakfast and in the evening. We enjoyed a very relaxing weekend here and would be more than happy to return

Quite thin walls between rooms, next door opened and shut all the drawers more than once 3 times a day, unfortunately they were against the headboard.

This hotel is rather old-fashioned and quirky but in a lovely position with wonderful views, big rooms with the usual facil, great food with excellent service, friendly staff and good value to boot!

My partner and I stayed here on Saay the 23rd of April 2016 for a one night stay on a bargain deal, for the price we paid we were over the moon with our trip, the food was nice, not amazing but very nice and we ate the lot, the staff on the reception were kind and helpful and our room was huge, clean and comfortable. The hotel is extremely dated and needs a revamp but it didn't bother us one bit. Recommend a sea view room as the views were worth our total price alone! Looking forward to staying here again.

We had a fantastic time at the Esplanade hotel Dunoon. This is our second stay within 6 months and we cannot fault it for value for money. Very efficent staff from check in to check out. The entertainment was very good on the Saay night, my only suggestion would be maybe to host something like a quiz night on the Friday if there is no entertainment on. We would highly recommend this hotel and a big Thank you to everyone who works there.

Stayed for a 2 night deal with Classic Britain at the Esplanade Hotel, Dunoon. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, they could not do enough for you. The rooms were very nicely decorated and were clean and comfortable. The meals we had on both nights were excellent value for money and 3 courses every night with a good choice. We also received a free bottle of wine with our meal on the first night. The hotel ran entertainment each night and catered to most music tastes. Overall had a great stay at this hotel and it is certainly value for money. We would certainly recommend this hotel to others and would book this hotel again.
