Got upgraded when we arrived, room very nice but few marks on walls where paint has chipped off. We've been here 4 times and always loved the food however didn't enjoy it this time, got told a new chef had revamped the menu.

Had a lovely 3 night break, though a wedding on when we arrived it did not disturb us at all. Booked on a D,B&B basis the evening meals were delicious and with a wide choice that we did not have to repeat any of the meals.

Very comfortable room. Breakfast was excellent. A few issues with our lunch and dinner not up to the standard of the other hotels in the group. Overall enjoyed the surroundings and the area. Unfortunately presented with a bill on departure which had been charged to our room but was not ours!

Hotel, staff and meals were excellent. Unfortunately our second night was ruined by an inconsiderate guest, talking loudly on the phone outside her room at 3 am. Children were running from room to room and banging doors. The receptionist spoke to the guest and all went guiet until 6 am. We were given a discount of around £20 which I felt did not compensate.

Spent three nights at this hotel, having been there some three years ago. Rooms have been refurbished since last visit and facilities are excellent. Staff very friendly and attentive too our needs and food in the Copper Beech Restaurant was first class. On arrival staff were very helpful and within our room found a complimentary bottle of wine which was a pleasant surprise as he had not expected that. Over all this is an excellent hotel and its reputation is so good that my daughter and husband had, unknowing to us, booked to having stayed there previously too following our recommendation after our first visit. The hotel is set in extensive and well maintained grounds and convenient to Dumfries and the Solway Coast and Gretna, Carlisle and many of the attractions in the Border counties in Scotland and England.

Excellent Hotel, food and room both first class, staff were very courteous and attentive. Only minus point....checkout was a bit of a let down....very impersonal....manager (?) who checked us out had little in the way of people skills... no interaction with guests on checking out....but we did enjoy our stay and would return....

Had a lovely couple of days at this beautiful hotel. The staff are so friendly and the food is delicious. Have stayed here a lot of times as it’s our favourite hotel in Dumfries. Can’t wait to go back.

Friendly, warm and informative welcome. Great first impression on entering the room. Well maintained, clean and comfortable. Even had hot chocolate within the tea selection. Great simple meal selection in a modern restaurant booked in advance. Looking forward to returning some day.
