Just back from a two night break at the Glenburn Hotel Rothesay. Paid a little extra to stay in a renovated room with a sea view. Beautiful view. Hotel is old and windows do need replacing but no problem with heat in room. We had dinner both nights in the restaurant as there was plenty of choice with at least three options for each course. Plain food which was fine. Staff in reception bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful. There is an A La Carte menu available if you require something different. In the morning breakfast is served at the table. This includes fruit juice cereal etc. together with a good choice of hot breakfast. There is entertainment every night although we did not bother with this.

Had a lovely weekend break at the hotel, the rooms were really good with a great sea view (we did upgrade the rooms and well worth it) staff were very friendly & helpfull. I would certainly recommend the hotel and will go back.

Recently stayed at the Glenburn Hotel for 2 nights. Very impressed by the public areas and our bedroom, both of which have been refurbished to a very high standard. Although clean, our bathroom was stuck in a 70s time warp and in need of upgrading. Extremely disappointed by the food, both the presentation and quality. At dinner on the second night, both the vegetarian chilli and the fish goujons were inedible.

I think when when a booking is available and it says twin/double and ask you to request then if a request is made for a double and is for a Mrs then I think the least someone can inform you before you arrive to let you know that they only have twin rooms left. When we arrived we didn't know it was a twin until we got into our room. Unfortunately when I called down to reception to ask them for a double their answer was that it was full and they didn't have a double and they can't specify what you will get through my hotel break. That's not an excuse to take a booking and not take a minute to inform them that they only had a twin. Not a great start. We tried to get alternative accommodation after myhotelbreak speaking to them asking if we could get a refund but unfortunately there was no alternative accommodation (it was a music festival weekend) to be found so basically after travelling we didn't have any other option but to remain. The hotel was nice, our twin room was nice but the food was the worst I have ever seen or tasted. Beer battered fish...they must have battered the batter off it. I have never seen such meagre portions or tasted such substandard food in any hotel ever. Husband was violently sick on our second night after dinner and we had to retire to our room. I just wish we had trusted our instinct and not ate on our second night in the hotel. Says it all when they offer £5 off the menu to eat in their other restaurant so 2 courses in the restaurant included in the booking doesn't equate to the price of a starter in their other restaurant. Big plus lovely waiter tall chap served us at our seat at the window..my apologies I think his name was Tyrell or Triston (sorry).

Rooms had been refurbished however bathroom only partly, shower terrible. We had a room at back of hotel with a lovely view and it was really peaceful.Food in bar lovely but we were very disappointed in the evening meal in Ettrick restaurant, ate in the bar on second evening. Breakfast was better and cooked well, service was very good at breakfast. The location is great and staff friendly however the hotel seems to be catering for touring coach parties which we were not part of, this would perhaps explain the food in the restaurant. They do have another restaurant but you have to pay extra for that. I think it was about £23 for a three course meal which is around the price of a meal we have had included in deals we have had before for similar prices. If we were to return it would be on a bed and breakfast deal. For the price overall this was fairly good value for money however we have had deals for similar prices that were much better as far as food goes.

We had a wonderful 3 day DBB break at the Glenburn Hotel. The location of the hotel and the views from it were amazing. The outside of the hotel was impressive and the garden was well maintained. Our bedroom was very comfortable and well appointed. The meals were varied, tasty and food plentiful, only negative was that the service in the dining room was very slow. The lounge had many seating areas and was very nicely decorated.

nice hotel with lovely bar area and outside seating. Apparently recently refurbished? I think some of it has but not all, it is a very big hotel. The bathroom was in need of upgrading and the shower was the worst I have come across in a long time. It was however, very comfy and clean. The satff were very nice and the food good value. We celebrated our 40th anniversary, noted it on booking but ody commented. Very good value for money and a nice weekend was had by all.

Fabulous hotel in a stunning location. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was beautiful although the bathroom could be improved. But it did not spoil our stay in any way. We booked a room with a sea view. Fantastic. Will be back.

The maid did not close the curtains to keep out the scorching sun. On entry the room was like a oven. Even toiletries on bathroom window melted. Hotel does not give out fans. Very uncomfortable and could have been avoided.
