We really enjoyed our stay at Barony Castle infact we liked it so much we have just booked again. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent well cooked and well presented.Nice to take our dog with us not enough hotels welcome dogs.

When booking asked for room in quiet part of hotel. Got room 116 which is immediately above function suite. Wedding was on that day room was very noisy. Asked if another room was availaable and was given Eddleston suite and scoring below reflects this move. Hotel staff were very pleasant and food was very good.

The room was basic but adequate for our needs. Dinner on the Saturday night was excellent. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Had a great weekend.Only gripe was that not very well signposted and we got lost in the dark.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful - excellent in fact - a very good asset to the hotel. The bedrooms were comfortable, but some items were 'tired' and needed attention. Some crockery in the restaurant/bar area was not clean - but perhaps the machine was probably not working well.

the hotel was, on the whole, pleasant and comfortable. I requested a quiet room which resulted in us being at the end of a corridor with 2 external walls making room 133 a bit chilly. Also there was a very strong and most unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke in the en-suite,which did not get any better over time. All staff were most professional and most helpful. Food was very competant.

Nice hotel but staff at times disorganised due to poor management. Biggest problem was that our room was above function suite and we could not get to sleep because of very loud music. When we complained duty manager sympathised but explianed that it would ceese at midnight- it did but not good enough!

thoroughly enjoyed our stay.staff very friendly/helpful..food /service excellent...only complaint, there was a large function on the saturday night, the guests came from the function suite at the start 4-5pm then after their meal for over 1hr and used all the seating area in the lounge leaving nowhere for residents to sit .A larger lounge/seating area would have helped or these guests should be encouraged to remain in the function suite areas.

Hotel setting is beautiful.Hotel was clean warm and staff were all very polite and helpful.Staff servicing bedrooms into early evening with corridors blocked with linen bags and service trollies not good. Evening meal was excellent but breakfast was disappointing, coffee was luke warm, hot food from the buffet was similarly only luke warm and items such as juices and fruit had to be requested as the containers were empty.

Disappointed with the receptionist on arrival at the hotel, they had the wrong spelling for our surmane and she said it could not be changed so we had to go with it for the rest of our stay.

Staff friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. Our first room didn't suit us- another was offered without any bother. Food was generous and of good quality- breakfasts especially tasty. It's obvious that this hotel wants their guests to feel welcome.- every member of staff we passed greeted us and smiled, and any time we asked for something out of the ordinary- the staff member gave us their time and tried to accommodate us. Take a wander through the grounds, which are lovely too. We really enjoyed our 3 night break at this "warm" hotel.

We enjoyed our stay very much but unfortunately after arriving at 4p.m we had to wait until 5.30p.m for our room to be ready. We realise the hotel was very busy with a wedding fayre but we did think rooms should be ready for guests arriving.

Nice peaceful location, hotel set in lovely grounds. A few maintenance issues within our hotel room but these did not detract from the room.

hotel was fine and staff were helpful. The grounds around the hotel were lovely. Only complaint was service on the second night was really slow,however food was great when it arrived

A lot if good things - we enjoyed it and will go back. Suggestions for improvement: Service on Friday night seemed stretched - took a long time for main course to be cleared and sweet orders taken. Make sure you have enought staff - OK, I know it's difficult sometimes but.... Act on coments(written) to reception. Our shower was OK but there was a problem that a new washer would have made a lot better. Written comment to reception on Thurs morning - still not fixed on Sat morning on departure. Small things that don't take a lot to fix but make the stay even better. But value for money very good. Setting excellent. Parking good. Staff helpful and friendly. We will look forward to another break there.

This was our third stay at Barony Castle this year and found it very good as usual. All staff, including Reception, Dining, Bar and Housekeeping were extremely pleasant and helpful. Only problem on this occasion was a very uncomfortable bed which made it difficult to get a proper sleep.

The Barony ... What can I say ... My partner and I made a last minute booking through classic Britain the. Hotel and reviews looked good but it's not until you arrive and experience the location the welcome from staff the atmosphere and the food ... (Wow) talk about value for money ... Staff could not do any more for you friendly efficient and without exception they all provided that little bit extra .. Location excellent food excellent service excellent ... We had a wonderful two nights very relaxing would definitely recommend this hotel well done :)

Room not ready on arrival at 16.00hrs. Lift does not go to all rooms on 2nd floor. Bags of laundry left lying along corridors. Hot buffet at breakfast lukewarm and items of food not replenished. Good evening meals in restuarant and excellent swimming pool. This hotel applies credit card charges. Have stayed at better hotels for the same price

Lovely location ideal for walkers. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food at the Blue Dug Restaurant. Rooms and facilities nice and clean. Would certainly go back again.
