One of the best weekend breaks we have had. We could not fault the hotel in any way. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food and service was great. There was a wedding on and you would never have known. Pool sauna area was spotless and well looked after. A really good 4 star hotel.We would not hesitate to return.

The deal we booked included 50%off spa treatments. After we booked we called the spa to find that there was no availability. This should have been removed from the offer as we were unable to use the spa.

Relaxing 2 day break, use of swimming pool, excellent breakfast and dinner choices. Friendly staff and lovely large bedroom with spacious bathroom. Excellent all round trip.

Driving up, the building is very understated but once inside it was gorgeous. A very friendly and homely hotel with probably the friendliest hotel staff in the country. Great pool and health suite too. Food was fabulous as was the service. I can see us as a couple becoming frequent return visitors.

Room we were in was very cold got an extra small heater from housekeeping but did not do much good room was on starting to heat up when we left I think the room had been empty all week . Apart from that the stay was good .

Expensive to drink and time of year we stayed the spikes bar only had very limited drinks to choose from apart from that everything was good.

On first view from the road this hotel did not look much...a bit dark,however my opinion was totally changed as we arrived in their car park. The hotel looked a lot nicer closer up. The reception area was very busy, which was surprising for a wet January weekend. Reception staff were welcoming and efficient. We had upgraded to a superior room overlooking the golf course. It was well furnished, bright and very clean. Bathroom and shower, toilet very clean bright with lovely fluffy towels. Room service was excellent, ice and extra tea and milk brought to our room quickly. We got a wonderful price for this hotel on Classis Britain which included dinner, bed and breakfast and a half price spa treatment! My only advice is if you are going book dinner in advance, and treatments in advance as we only had time for 30 minute treatment each...they are extremely busy! Lovely pool and gym, again clean and well looked after. Our treatments were carried out by friendly informative staff, and much enjoyed. Dinner was a treat, great choice of dishes and wine. Staff very attentive. Breakfast we chose was from the buffet which included the usual fried breakfast, fresh fruit, pastries, and if that was not to your liking you could order a specially made breakfast from the kitchen. Stayed at this hotel from 17/1 to 19/1.The first thing you notice is the hotel is a little out of the way. We were there for a quiet break,a few drinks and some good food. The receptionist (male) that handled our check-in was pleasant enough if not a bit robotic ie the same spiel for everyone. The drinks at the bar are a little overpriced,but if you consider the fact that we got the room for an excellent price,this balanced itself out.The food on both evenings was excellent and the restaurant very busy.I would suggest booking before your arrival to make sure you get a table!The waiting staff were very professional and very good at there job,with just the right amount of fuss.On check out it can be very busy,so get your account then check it,before paying. I was fortunate enough to notice a bottle of wine had been added to my bill that we had not ordered,this quickly removed from the bill. Overall we had a cery enjoyable stay in a very pleasant atmosphere in a very good hotel,and would certainly use the hotel again.Ps the rooms received a 7 because our mattress was very soft,we awoke with a sore back on both mornings.

I had booked golf with the hotel however the didn't inform me that due to flooding that the golf course was closed which was dissapointing. Also the weekend we were there the hotel was extremelly busy which meant we were not able to eat in the main restaurant and we had to wait quite some time for a bar meal which wasn't worth the money, we also felt the Hotel was a little tired and could benefit from a little bit of maintenance.

Bedrooms comfortable, with nice seating area and spacious bathroom. Staff and service very good. Dinner very good, but wine a bit overpriced. Breakfast very good with varied selection, pity fish choices at a supplement !!

Our stay at the Macdonald Cardrona was both enjoyable and relaxing. The staff were lovely and the food was excellent. we will be back :-)

My wife and I arrived on Fri 10th Jan for 2 nights. On the Sat our car broke down and the female receptionist immediately provided us with a list of local garages. On finding out our car would not be ready until the Monday, Derek at the reception immediately offered us an extra night at the reduced original price as well as refusing to charge for the upgrade we had paid for on arrival. Staff then provided us with bus times and taxi numbers for us to use. We were then allowed to store our cases in the holding room for longer than normal which meant no dragging on and off buses on the way to picking up our car. Could you please pass on to all the reception staff a huge thanks for going that extra mile and nothing was ever too much trouble. A 2 day break with hitches then turned into an unexpected 3 day break that we will long remember. We have already told many people about the fantastic service we received. Keep up the good work and we look forward to returning in the not too distant future
