Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine

Bit disappointed room very tired! In need of refurbishment despite deal was best room available!! Staff at reception lovely however in Restuarant lack training and experience asked for mayo for my burger given tarter sauce! Ordered tea but had to ask for milk x sugar? Breakfast bit of a fiasco very small buffet tray only one or possibly two can use at same time! Big que asked for fried egg as not on buffet was told to ask another waitress so had to leave que and rejoin for rest of breakfast ( 7 people in front!) 9.30am no potato scones left offered fried bread?? Don’t think we will be back! Sorry!

Sadly would not recommend. Initially appears lovely when you walk into the main lobby/bar area. Different story as you go upstairs. Rooms are very basic and not the cleanest. Booked dinner and that was a disaster. Rude staff with no customer service skills. Burnt my finger on a plate that was literally red hot yet the food on it was just warm. Dinner was below average. Everyone was complaining. Apparently the chef was off and the bar manager was filling in. If this was the case then they have done their best but realistically there should be a stand in chef that knows what they are doing or stick to a simple bar snack menu. The restaurant manager was polite and offered us free drinks which was appreciated. Only thing I really could not fault was the young guys working behind the bar. They were fab and although obviously really busy they remained calm and served with a smile.

Excellent value for money. Food was really good and staff very friendly. We have stayed here a few times now and wouldn’t look for anywhere else in Irvine.

Nice hotel. Too many guests wandering around without Masks. These were mostly English who obviously did not know the rules in Scotland are different. The Hotel staff chose to ignore this issue instead of asking them to cover up. We asked for our complimentary bottle of wine with our meal and were told it does not apply in the restaurant.

Lovely and very stylish hotel, extremely clean and friendly staff. Food was excellent. We were also given an upgrade room which was very spacious and patio doors leading to the garden area. Loved our stay and would definitely return and recommend

Another lovely stay at The Riverside. We have stayed here several times and love it. Great food, staff are very pleasant. Hopefully we will be visiting again in the very near future!

Amazing service at reception! Our room was an upgrade and was beautiful and the couple we went away with where also giving a lovely room. Great service for dinner and the food was amazing and the presentation on some of our dishes was also very nice. Breakfast service was also very good with the girls coming around topping up your tea/coffee.

On 20th Oct my wife and I stayed for 2 nights B/B with dinner on the 2nd night. We had an excellent stay, all staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. We were given a complimentary room upgrade which was exceptional. The food and service in the restaurant was memorable. Highly recommend

Overall standard of the Hotel was good but breakfast was a disaster. With Covid rampant again the set up for breakfast left a lot to be desired. The Hot Buffet counter and the Continental/cereal table were so close together guests could not pass each other. For the hot counter guests had to serve themselves all using the same serving spoons (thats an open invitation to spread covid and any other germs that people might have). There was no control over how many guests could come for breakfast at any one time causing long queues. The clearing of tables was very slow, also an issue with the evening meal. Even after Covid is under control I would think twice before returning to this hotel, the catering was a shambles.

Thought sat nav had taken us to wrong location as its in middle of new housing estate. Check in was quick but were given a twin room in error. Receptionist very friendly and helpful and quickly changed. Rooms quite "tired" and not as modern as the rest of the hotel. Bed fairly comfy but no mattress protector, sheet too short and slipped off corners during night. Pillows flat. Room clean but bit dated furniture. There was a large round glass table at side of bed which partner hit his head off during the night! Due to houses facing straight into hotel felt little privacy and had to keep curtains closed. Booked dinner B&B which was quite good value. Good choice on menu, couldn't fault dinner. Bar area is really lovely, very modern and not overly expensive for a 4* hotel. Lovely big outside seating area, shame it was raining. Breakfast buffet style, usual choice of cooked items but very little choice if you don't want cooked option. Only yoghurts and cereal ( would have been nice to have croissants/nice bread rolls) Overall had a pleasant stay, good value. If you are looking for a change of scenery with nice dinner and drinks then worth a visit. Not situated in area where you can go for nice walks so if that's what you are looking for you will be disappointed.

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Afternoon Tea, lunch and dinner lovely. Breakfast did not have a great choice as no potato scones, croissants, pastries, porridge and only one choice of egg. Rooms need updating as furniture looks old and a bit shabby. Bathrooms and showers need updating as tiles chipped and showers yellow with age. Bedrooms and bedding were clean though.

We’ve just returned from a short break at the Riverside Lodge and it’s fair to say we’ll be back. From start to finish staff went out of their way to accommodate you and the value of this break was fantastic.

Reception and bar area really lovely and was nice to sit and chill and have a few drinks. The food in restaurant was also lovely, the only let down was the service at dinner was poor. The rooms are standard and the only compliant I had was the mattress was done, would do to replace it but Other than that I would recommend this Hotel.

Must admit the foyer was beautiful. First room we were allocated on 2nd floor was tatty and also too far away from dining room for my husband.However contacted reception and was given a lovely room on ground floor.Meals were lovely,service a bit slow and the brown bread was mouldy at breakfast I mean VERY mouldy.

A nice hotel, room was spacious and room warm and comfortable. The food was good and the price was very reasonable. Staff seemed efficient and friendly. No complaints about the hotel at all.
