For a second year running we have stayed at The Regent Hotel. Given that it is a 2 star hotel, the food, room and service was very good. Yes, the hotel is tired and in an ideal world would benefit from some money being spent on it, however given what we paid to stay there, we have no complaints whatever. We expect to be back.

We will be visiting this hotel again, staff are very friendly and helpful, can't do enough for you. Food was very good. My only fault was there was no onsight parking, but there is parking nearby. Well done Regent Hotel

Very nice staff, good room with a view over Oban Bay. Food good, with an option to pay a supplement on menu prices for more expensive items i.e. steaks, mussels etc. The hotel is a Victorian and later Art Deco addition which I prefer to the characterless "Travelodge" type. Interesting display of WW2 memorabilia as the hotel was one of many requisitioned during the last war.

Great location and value for money. We were allocated room 311 which was in the turret part of the hotel. This had great views in three directions over the bay. Service was good. Food in the included menu was ok but limited although for a surcharge you can select anything from the main menu. Enjoyed our overnight stay before visiting Mull.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Regent. The staff wee all very pleasant and top marks to Rudy on reception who was welcoming pleasant and helpful-just as a receptionist should be. Our first room was at the back over the kitchens and the noise all night from extractor fans was really annoying. The bathroom window didn't close and was a bit chilly-wouldn't like to be in this bathroom in the middle of winter. We were moved to room 310 on the 2nd night and this was much nicer-quiet. The beds were very comfortable in both rooms. Food was nice-we all enjoyed our meals. Bit pricey for any add on's though. But for the price everything was acceptable-just don't get a room over the kitchens.

An old hotel currently being upgraded. Handily located and very inexpensive. A great base for touring the area. Excellent breakfast. The down side: leaking, drsughty windows and the constant stream of smokers at the front door. Walking through a fog of smoke is no fun.

The lack of car parking spoiled this hotel for our stay . Having to pay to park along the road , and having to move your car before 9 30 am , and keep topping up a parking meter every two hours . Just to make you aware.

As usual, had a great time in the Regent Oban. Although always found meals good, the new chef has defo made a difference. Staff are lovely, always smiling even although it must be hard working with the public. The room which we had,had breathtaking views over the Bay.

Stayed for two nights B & B and dinner on first night through a media offer. Have stayed in the hotel previously and was pleased to see there have been some improvements. The bedroom was clean, comfortable and seemed to have been recently decorated, including a new carpet and flat screen tv. Our room was on the fourth floor with a great view across the bay. Unfortunately we were right opposite the lift and this resulted in quite a bit of noise, particularly first thing in the morning with some of the coach tours up with the early bird! Although the en-suite bathroom was clean the floor looked as though it dated from the 1950's and needs replaced. Staff were all pleasant and courteous, particularly those serving in the restaurant. Given this was an economy booking I can't fault the food. Impressed with the 3 course evening meal and a good hearty cooked breakfast both mornings. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Regent. The Ritz it ain't but if your looking for a quirky, comfortable place to base yourself in Oban I would recommend it. We will be back. Thanks PS. Please move the smoking area from the entrance as the majority would rather avoid the aromas enjoyed by the minority.

fantastic price , food good , service very good but the room let it down slightly - shower room very small and shower head a waste of time , not much room around bed but this would not stop me going back as the price paid was so good for two nights db&b . I could have complained about the room but we were soake completely when we arrived and were just glad to get everything dry and warm

Stayed 2 nights B+B 26-28 Apr. Whilst we enjoyed the theme of 1940's, the cleanliness of the hotel from bedroom to dining room was awful. Issues with bedroom for example: Window sills dirty not just dusty. Walls had stains on them. Bath plug not attached. Dust on walls and lifted mattress before we left and saw sweet wrapper underneath. After the staff had been in to clean the room on the Sat, we found they had left the bin bag in the bath instead of removing it. Dining room issues for example: Dusty/dirty cups and table covers. We found the staff to be nice enough but did not seem to want to "go that extra mile" and I can't help feeling this may be due to the lack of motivation from surroundings. Breakfast was what I would expect from a cafe not a hotel charging
