We enjoyed our stay at Crown & Mitre very much,the location is perfect for shopping,the staff are friendly and helpful and the food was tasty and well presented.The young gentleman in the restaurant was efficient and charming if in these awful PC days it’s still safe to say that.We will definitely stay here again.

Throughly enjoyed are stay. The food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel was right in the middle of carlisle which it was good for site seeing and shopping. Would stay again but would want a refurbished room. That was the only down side our room was very dated.

Had a very pleasant and comfortable stay here with my wife while we visited family. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff were all very nice and attentative. The food was delicious and the breakfast plentiful. Will definitely stay here again .

Stayed here for a weekend in September ,lovely hotel well maintained and looked after. Friendly and helpful staff, good food and drinks ,Our stay was dinner bed and breakfast ,the meal was first class and opted for a cheese board for desert which could have easily fed two. Our room was clean and comfortable . one the morning we left we used the pool and spa which was great as we had it all to ourselves . only negative was the bar prices were a bit high . overall an excellent hotel

Room very clean, towels thick and fluffy and bed very comfortable. Dinner menu not to our taste, both set menu and a la carte, but service at dinner and breakfast quick and friendly staff.

First bedroom offered was not suitable for us, however it was no problem when we requested a new room. It was bright and spacious though cleanliness could have been better. Breakfast on Sunday morning was chaotic and very little choice from the self service area. Monday morning was much quieter and breakfast was very tasty. The other problem we had was the seagulls squawking during the night. It was awful, but the hotel cannot be blamed for this problem. Hotel was in a great location for shopping, restaurants and bars. On the whole a very enjoyable visit. I would visit again but upgrade to one of the newly refurbished rooms.

Disappointed to get a room in the annexe - very noisy in the early morning due to overlooking the lane and facing the building opposite. Room was a bit dusty and dull. Also net curtains were a bit torn and dated.

I was in room 230 which was situated at the front of the hotel overlooking the shopping precinct. It was a spacious, quiet room with big windows. The lower windows were sealed shut (I would guess it's because they are the original ones and have some sort of Listed Building restrictions on them) so I asked for a fan for the room which was brought up straight away. The food in both the Peace & Plenty restaurant and the breakfast room was great. All the staff appear to be very well trained in this hotel and are polite, friendly & helpful. Complimentary glass of wine at check in was a bonus - thank you. I just wish you could have offered me a good deal to extend my stay for another night.

Excellent hotel. Very clean with friendly staff. Dinner was excellent on both nights and the restaurant staff extremely helpful. Very centrally situated in Carlisle and relatively close to both the train station & the bus station.

Huge improvements have been made to the hotel since our last visit in December 2015 (the weekend of the floods). I believe refurbishment work is ongoing which will improve the hotel even more. Staff and food were to a very high standard, as was our room. Unfortunately there was a little blip on Sunday morning when we had no electricity, how very he staff were helpful in getting us a kettle of hoer for morning tea when we requested this. An engineer was called out and the problem was eventually fixed. We would stay here again.

Cannot fault breakfast but at dinner, table d'hote mediocre, a la carte well worth paying the extra (steak cooked to perfection). The centrality of the hotel with free parking an added bonus.This was our second visit and we will return.
