Room 25 was dark, noisey from the road, problems with flushing wc and running cold water into the wash basin, and in need of updating. Wouldn’t stay in the Coach House again

This was a great value break and we had a very good room in the courtyard.Ground floor rooms are quite a bit quieter at night than upstairs. Everything was spotless and COVID-19 restrictions were well adhered to.The food in both restaurant and bistro were enjoyable.

First time at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it . Staff were very friendly and COVID rules in place . Food was amazing in both bistro and restaurant . The spa deal is excellent value . Spa facilities were brill and staff great . We did not manage the distillery visit as it was an hour from hotel and weather was so nice we were out and about all day . Views from hotel stunning . Would def return

From start to end this was one of the best hotels we have stayed in with the spa being outstanding. Our deal gave us 2 hours in there, which was just heaven, and I would definitely recommend using it. The staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough for us and the food was so tasty. We were very sad to leave

We had a garden room which was comfortable, light and airy. We particularly enjoyed having the use of a terrace. The staff were all very pleasant but rather scarce in the bar. A special mention to Sarah who was extremely helpful. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and really enjoyed our meal. We did not enjoy the meal we had in the Bistro as much.

On arrival they had messed up our restaurant and bistro bookings, took about 15 minutes to resolve, they allowed us to check in early 2pm as room was ready. Room no 4, I was totally underwhelmed. The toilet was so close to the bath using it was a challenge. There was a jacuzzi bath and TV in the bath, couldn't turn volume down on TV, asked reception to assist, the next day they gave us remote back and still couldn't turn volume down so therefore couldn't use the TV as it was set so loud. No WiFi, both of our phones stated signal strength excellent but no internet connection for some reason. We didn't report this as we just decided to use our data. Dinner in the restaurant was good although the pork belly starter just tasted like deep fried pork, greasy and lacking flavour. All other dishes were nice. We ordered dessert, £18 for 2 desserts was steep in my opinion, especially considering the cheesecake consisted of 3 tiny pieces of cheesecake. The bar drinks were priced what we would expect but I prefer if I am paying for a glass bottle mixer that I receive the bottle to mix myself. My husband's was flat one evening making me suious it wasn't a freshly opened bottle. Breakfast was not nice, full English was not toour tastes stall. Tasteless black pudding, fatty greasy bacon and the scrambled eggs tasted gritty like they had sand in them. Second morning my husband had pancakes and I had sausage and poached eggs which was better. The tiny glasses of juice at breakfast were a joke, 2 sips and they were finished meaning additional trips to collect more. The bistro meal was ok, prawn tail starters, can't really go wrong and beef goulash had very little beef and lots of potato, chicken curry had plenty of chicken although it was dry and chewy, clearly reheated don't very enjoyable. The spa was wonderful and I believe this is the sole reason the hotel has A4 star rating. The 2 outdoor hot tubs did not have much pressure in the jets but apart from that everything else about the spa was great

Recently did the Gin and Spa weekend here. Food, Spa and distillery tour was fab. The coach house we stayed in was cramped and tired, but functional. The hotel is in an amazing spot with great views. The Bistro at the Gin Distillery was excellent and in a great courtyard that was well protected. The bistro and main restaurant in the hotel served great food. There was a bit of mix up when we had dinner in the main restaurant, they got one of the starters wrong and forgot our wine, which was then not cold when requested, but managed to get it sorted, with a little delay.

Fabulous! Everything was so well organised . The Covid19 rules and regulations were explained on our arrival. The food was amazing. We felt very relaxed safe and well looked after .

Fabulous hotel. Great uber relaxing Spa. Super Food & Service from very pleasant helpful Staff. Spotlessly clean cracking room upgrade with south -facing terrace. A gem of a place in such a beautifully iconic setting overlooking the wooded valley above Appleby. Sunset drinking to die for. Thank you Graham , for finding my "lost" jacket !! Thank you for our amazing two day stay. The spa experience for 2hours was just what we needed to relax. The meals in both restaurant and bistro were so nice and the staff who looked after us made it feel so special. As we came away the hotel had to close it's doors due to lockdown in the UK. We will definitely be back.

We have stayed at Appleby Manor earlier in the year and we absolutely love it. The staff are super efficient and very friendly. The food is amazing and perfectly cooked. We chose room 14 in the attic so spacious, comfortable and quiet. Couldn't find fault with anything and hopefully we will be back again soon

Having booked the Heelis suite for our silver wedding we were deeply disappointed. The room was cold and noisy, needs updating, no tv in the bathroom which it stated there was. No one went the extra mile to make the stay special. It was not forth the money.
