Unfortunately for those of us on upper floors, the lift was out of order during our stay. Just as well we travel light.

My partner and I arrived for a two night stay on the 10th of June.We were expecting a standard room,but were more than pleasantly astounded to find that we had been allocated The Finlay Suite,a huge room(with large en-suite bathroom)with lovely views down towards the Moray Firth.The hotel is in a quiet area and is very peaceful.The food in the restaurant is nothing short of superb(with a special mention for my excellent mixed grill on our first night).Now for the unfortunate "but!"......the service in the restaurant leaves a bit to be desired.On our first night there was at least a half-an-hour gap between us finishing our main course and our table being cleared and dessert orders been taken,despite us previously indicating that our main meal was finished with,but breakfast on our final morning was a true comedy of errors.Arrived in the restaurant at 09.15 and ended up requesting our tea,coffee and toast three times(but it still never arrived)and whilst we were still waiting for them they brought my partner's meal,which was the wrong order.Other people in the restaurant also complained and a manager was brought in to get things organised,which to his credit he did,with all breakfast items on the table within five minutes.This could have just been a glitsch,but it was a major one,on an otherwise tremendous visit to a hotel that we would have no hesitation in staying at the next time we are in Nairn.

We were celebrating our 55th Wedding Anniversary and the friendly, professional staff made it a holiday to remember. We were given a Suite with a spectacular view. The food was wonderful and the icing on the cake was a glass of Prosecco on our special day! Well done on attention to detail - we will certainly be back!

I was working around the Inverness area and picked the Newton hotel in Nairn as a base for my 3 day stay. It's set in a nice secluded location with ample parking and it has a nice old stately look about it. My room in the "Chaplin" wing on the 2nd floor overlooked the gardens at the rear. Some of the decor and furniture in the room could do with upgrading, especially the old crt-type Tv as previous reviews of the hotel have stated but, these aside, the room was clean & comfortable with a good strong reliable wi-fi signal. What is very good about the hotel is the friendly and very efficient staff, nothing was too much trouble for them and they are a credit to the hotel's owners. The food in the restaurant is excellent, to a high standard & very well presented by the aforementioned staff. There is a good choice and it's not too expensive. I looked forward to my evening meal each evening...you are asked to specify a time for dinner (6-9pm) when you check in and likewise when you leave the dining room after breakfast you're asked what time you'd like dinner at in the evening. The breakfast is also very good with a wide selection of juices, fruit, cereals, cold meats & cheese, pastries and of course a full cooked Scottish breakfast served piping hot to your table along with a pot of tea or coffee. I have no hesitation in recommending the Newton hotel and look forward very much to my next stay the next time I'm in the area.

Our first night here was ruined by the noise from the rooms above.i had to ask the night porter to speak to them and it was 1 am before it went quiet.also the shower door was broken . On checking out when I looked at bill there was a bottle of wine on it that we hadn't had.I wouldn't stay here again,

Bank holiday stay Sadly really disappointed by the hotel. Food was really poor, hotel decided to close Chaplins for bank holiday andhave a set menu for dinner on first night. Vegetarian option really poor and no consideration given to guests who had the same for lunch. Desserts had plastic pieces in them -and while staff apologised and tried to rectify the whole experience tainted the stay. Food and service let down this hotel in nice setting.

Stay at hotel was fantastic apart from the mattress in our room which was too soft and uncomfortable. Felt we were rolling out of bed. Room decor brilliant and the power shower fantastic. Staff really friendly and helpful. Have stayed before and will stay again
