We had a wonderful stay at this lovely Inn. It was quaint, comfortable with really efficient and lovely staff but the best part of the stay was the cuisine. The food was of a very high standard and was excellent. This Inn must be very proud of the standard of their chefs. It was quite rural setting but quiet and peaceful and their bar with the log burner had such a lovely ambience. We would highly recommend a visit to this place.

Had a really nice break at The Inn at Lathones. The food was very good & staff very friendly & efficient. Accommodation comfortable . Only criticism would be that external door rattled badly in windy conditions overnight. Building we were in a little bit tired, window frames badly rotted, Faulty TV, replaced by staff but fault remained.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Our room was larger than expected and very 'welcoming'. The bathroom was modern and very clean. No complaints whatsoever! The Restaurant was lovely and the food excellent and reasonably priced. The service at Reception and in the Restaurant was first class and the members of staff were ever so helpful, polite and friendly. The location of the Inn is in the countryside but only an 8 minute drive straight into St Andrews. We would be more than happy to return to this Inn and would recommend it without hesitation!

Having stayed at the hotel four years ago I was looking forward to my two night break. Sadly I was very disappointed in the hotel. The room was basic and in need of refurbishment. On the day of our arrival the room was cold despite the radiator being hot. It took until the next day for the room to be warm. I assume no heating had been put on until the day of our arrival. The wardrobe door could not be closed due to a broken hinge which was reported but not repaired. When we went for dinner the restaurant was very cold and we had to eat with our jackets on as apparently the boiler was not working. The food was lovely and the staff were doing their best We won’t be back.

Room was clean and tidy but rather Spartan and in need if a refurbishment, but the service was very good and the breakfast and dinner were both excellent. The two night break was very good value for money.

We were allocated a room which opened on to a main road, resulting in a lot of traffic noise. Our first impression was that the room was very cold, and didn't seem to warm up as time went on. However we enjoyed our evening meal very much and compliment the chef and the rest of the staff for their excellent service. We spoke to the manager in the morning and he offered us another room which had become vacant. This was a very comfortable and warm room so we enjoyed staying there.

Very enjoyable two nights at the Inn at Lathones, we found the service from the staff both very professional and friendly and we were checked in very quickly by Jack who took us to our room while explaining all details that we required to know about the hotel, the following day Nina was the hotel representative and again she made us feel very welcome. The evening meal on both nights was superb again with service from staff excellent. The only down side to our stay was the amount of dog hairs that we encountered on the top bed cover and even a few inside the bed. Every room in the hotel is dog friendly but more care should be taken to prevent this. The standard of the room again could also have been better, however this will not prevent us from returning to the Inn at Lathones as we would hope the problem with dog hairs was a one off and one which we did bring to the attention of the staff.

Thanks for a nice stay. My wife and I enjoyed being served by kindly and attentive staff. The food is well prepared and of excellent quality. We were allocated a large, well-furnished room. Just a few miles from St. Andrews for a walk along the beach, and not too far to Dundee for a day out at the shops. Well done the Inn at Lathones.

We stayed in a very spacious room for two nights, very big comfortable bed, the two chairs were somewhat shabby and looking very tired, the room was missing glasses/plastic cups in the bathroom, also a toilet brush. Dinner on both nights was very good with decent portions, breakfast on the other hand was poor, it had obviously been stood for a while as the bacon was hard and dried up and the egg yolk was hard, the cooked breakfast came straight out when my partners cereal plate was removed which proved to me that it had be stood. I mentioned all of the above to Mike one of the owners who was very receptive to my comments. We were going to stay a third night however the price was going to be more than half of the original cost for two nights, there had I believe been a misunderstanding so we decided not to stay. If I was in the area again I would return to the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and polite, the two names that I remember were Nina and Aaron and the two that I can't remember were also very good. I have scored 7 for food because of the breakfast.

Staf very helpful and they give you great service. Breakfast great choice and lovely cooked, also with dinner, lovely presented. The only drawback was the two single beds together, not comfortable, would have been better with one matteress or just a double bed. The gap between matteress was so annoying. Regards Francis and Ann

We recently stayed for 2 nights in a double room and had an amazing stay. We had a lovely experience from the moment we arrived until we departed. Nina was so kind and welcoming at reception. We booked through hotel breaks and got dinner both nights, breakfast both mornings and scones when we arrived included. All the food was delicious and was really enjoyable, there was a great choice at dinner and breakfast. The staff were very friendly, helpful and nothing was a problem. Our room was very large and bed very comfy! I look forward to returning and would highly recommend.

1st time staying at this hotel. On arrival the appearance outside is not inviting, could do with a coat of paint. Once in reception the staff are so friendly and helpful. Rooms a good size. A bath and shower in the bathroom. The food is amazing. We stayed an extra night and over 4 nights every meal was delicious. We were booked elsewhere in St Andrews for a wedding in July but cancelled it and rebooked here.

We had a very nice time at this hotel on a Twixmas break. The room was comfortable and adequate. When you have a dog it’s best not to worry about the fixtures and fittings in the room. It might have been nice to have 2 armchairs in a room that slept 2 people!! The food was excellent and served courteously and in great portions. They really catered for gluten free requirements offering several choices both for dinner and breakfast. All in all we would not hesitate to return but would maybe ask for an upgraded room.

We stayed at the Inn for a couple of nights at the start of December and we have to say it was terrific. As a base to visit the area it's just perfect. The room we had was very comfortable, clean and warm. The central heating had been on for us arriving and was kept on all day and night. We have stayed at hotels where the heating was turned off at weird times. There were no USB charging points built into the sockets, the wardrobe was small with only a few hangers and the shower was a little dated. This didn't bother us at all but some pernickety travellers might not like this and I wouldn't want the staff to have to deal with complaints from people so it's better to let you know beforehand. I couldn't recommend the Inn highly enough, the place has a character you wouldn't believe, exposed beams, stone fireplace and the rooms were down a path into old miners cottages. The food was amazing and the servings were very generous. The thing that made our stay exceptional was the staff. Everyone was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. We were there at a quiet time with only one other couple in the Inn on the first night, the second night was us all by ourselves and rather than feeling we were putting the staff out we were made to feel even more welcome, our meal wasn't rushed and the waitress made sure we were well looked after. Breakfast was repeat of dinner, treated like royalty with the staff making sure we had everything we needed. If you want somewhere really special to stay then this is the place and we will definitely be back.

We stayed 4 nights DB&B 23 to 27 Nov. This was a delightful experience in a unique venue. The rooms are in cottages in a courtyard setting. Our standard double was spacious, with a king size bed (two singles bolted together but very comfortable nevertheless), TV with full freeview channels, and modern ensuite with bath, efficient overhead electric shower, and a mega heated towel rail. The main building is a traditional stonebuilt inn close by. It is very cozy with Breakfast Room, Bar, and Lounge with log burning stove. Bar prices are slightly upmarket high street, between £4 to £5 for pints or shorts with mixer. The Piece de Resistance is the restaurant which recently opened in the former stables. Very ambiente, with bar and an impressive log burning stove. All the staff were excellent, but particularly on the Friday night when Storm Arwen cut the electricity off in the entire area at 1750. They really stepped up to the plate and the Chef still managed to provide virtually the entire menu by flashlight on his gas cookers, and our meal was excellent in the Stables Restaurant by LED candlelights and the big log fire. Breakfast was cooked to order with generous portions. Good choices on the dinner menu, all delicious and generously portioned. Starter+Main+Dessert is a challenge! This off-season deal with myhotelbreak was excellent value for this unique venue. We'll be back!

Good value for money. Comfortable room, excellent food and friendly, helpful staff. Although it didn't bother us, it is a bit out of St Andrews if that's important.

We had a lovely stay here for the weekend. Accommodation was lovely and lighting and heating were on for us arriving so nice and cosy. Food was really nice and cosy atmosphere in the restaurant and bar with the wood burning fire. Highly recommend if your looking for a quiet getaway
