Been to the Riverside on several occasions, and have always had a very good experience. Unfortunately this was not the same on this occasion. Firstly didn’t think the room was its usual standard. No toiletries. We booked dinner and firstly waited nearly an hour to get into the bar to eat as there was no room in the restaurant, so we ate in the bar. We had to wait another hour for our dinner to arrive which was frozen. I asked them to take it back and to be honest there was little improvement. The next morning was no better, again waited in a big queue to then we told we would have to eat in the bar, which was very cold. We then had to but wait until we were called. Again breakfast was awful ,scrambled egg and sausage were cold to the point where you could not eat it. So left without breakfast. I appreciate that there are challenges due to Covid as I am a senior nurse, but this service is not acceptable

Our stay was a great bargain and like our last stay the room and hotel was amazing. Staff are really friendly and Covid systems are all in place. We decided to sit out in the decking to have a drink but when asking if we could get a table we were told by a member of staff that she had other groups waiting for outdoor tables. We returned to our room as we had a complimentary bottle of wine and we had a drink in the room, which was directly across from the outdoor seating area. We could see there were quite a few empty tables so we went back over before our dinner reservation. My husband asked at the bar and was told it was table service outside but he would sort out drink order. We waited for 20 minutes but no drink appeared so we came in for our dinner. While waiting till 7pm we witnessed several members of staff wandering round with food orders asking different groups if the order belonged to them. We went into the restaurant and were seated at a table and the server took a drink order. 5 minutes later another server came over to give us drinks were not ours. We got our food which was lovely but the time we finished our meal there was a large queue of people waiting to be seated for their meals. This was the only problem in our stay and it was a shame as it was so nice to get out after the lockdown. I can’t figure out if there’s not enough staff or the staff haven’t been properly trained but even the staff were finding it difficult to deliver food and drink to the correct tables. Maybe the tables need to be numbered??

Hotel average certainly far from 4 star. The curtains in our room 244 were seriously ripped. The staff are helpful but very slow. Service at dinner and breakfast had room for massive improvement. Food was good however breakfast was cold and we had to keep remembering staff re out toast.

Another lovely stay at Riverside. Rooms were beautiful and food excellent. Only slight disappointment was breakfast a bit disorganised. The staff were very good and doing their best, just not enough of them to cope with the number of guests.

Another lovely stay at The Riverside Lodge Hotel even with all the current restrictions. The food was as fab as ever. Sadly not washed down with a lovely cold pint but hey ho. We still had a lovely break and a very enjoyable breakfast too. A very comfy bed with good pillows all helped gave a great nights sleep.

Excellent value for money. Great service. Nothing was a bother. Obviously due to vivid a reduced menu but still enough choice. Would certainly return to this hotel agaon.

Nice hotel staff very friendly food was excellent close to the town and lots of nice walks ! We will go back !?

Very enjoyable stay on a DBB with bottle wine in room. We were upgraded to a newly refurbished family room, which had patio doors, very spacious and comfortable. All staff very friendly and helpful and we felt very safe.

Beautiful entrance to hotel spotlessly clean,dbb was excellent we were upgraded to a deluxe twin would definitely reccomend to stay here!

We did not enjoy our stay here, we were given a complimentary room upgrade, the beds were awful we hardly slept we spoke to reception the next day and got moved rooms the beds were still not great, Food was terrible on first night so much so we ordered a just eat to our room the second Breakfast was the worst I've ever had we were the only ones in restaurant at 6:30am on fri morning and the food was cold (buffet style breakfast) We went second morning and the breakfast came from the kitchen and was still awful, we had a late check out and we left at 9am This is the WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD, I HAVE USED MY HOTEL BREAK FOR MANY YEARS AND THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE WORST I'VE STAYED IN....

Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Housekeeping needs much improvement. Upon entering the room we found someone's medication between the bed and bedside cabinet, one of the glasses was filthy, around the bath was very dusty/dirty, thick layer of dust on top of picture frames, hairs on the bathroom floor, surrounding the sink in the bathroom was also dusty/dirty. No where near the cleanliness you'd expect of a 4* hotel.

Arrived and no sanitiser available, spoke to reception staff who said "they meant to fill it earlier "not good under current circumstances. She then asked to take my bank card in her hand to input details as they don't have a card machine to put pin number in. Again, I work in retail and we are encouraging card payments without handling customer cards. A better process is needed. We had to ask regarding where to go for dinner and what time checkout was as we were not given this information. Arrived in room and white wine given on arrival was not in ice bucket and very warm. View from room not good either. Staff at dinner and breakfast were great, with both meals amazing .

Booked a double room and was given twin room. Didn't complain couldn't be bothered with the hassle. First night meal was beautiful, tasty and we'll proportioned. Dining room was beautifully decorated and spacious for the COVID restrictions. Friendly and professional staff. Decor could have done with a touch up in room, crack in wall, dust on toilet door and hairs on soap dish. Reception and foyer beautiful elegant and stylish, comfortable.

Hotel reception, bar & restaurant area were lovely rooms weren't of same standard. Wasn't happy that people were allowed to come into the hotel without wearing masks (counted 5 when sitting having a drink). Also wasn't impressed with gentleman who dealt with us checking out never even asked if we enjoyed stay he was only concerned that we put our keycard in plastic box to be sanitized. Wouldn't recommend this hotel

This was our third stay at the Riverside as always delicious food, comfortable spacious rooms and friendly staff. Would recommend and look forward to a return visit.
