Reception on arrival very pleasant and helpful Bedroom was very good and the evening meal and breakfast was excellent The waitress served us for dinner breakfast and also in the bar very good service cannot fault Would definitely return when driving up to Scotland again great stopover

Had a lovely time at the Gables. Food was lovely. Rooms were very comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Only drawback I would say was that in the lounge it was very bright and also a bit chilly as smokers were using the fire exit to get in and out for a smoke.

We had a very pleasant experience staying at The Gables Hotel sfaff very friendly and helpful plus they could not do enough for our stay, with me being disabled the staff really went out off there way to help me in anyway they could I wouldn’t say in anyway they done this for me being disabled cos as we sat in the bar/lounge area we could see what the staff were doing and they made everyone feel welcome just like you where part off the family, I have stayed in 4/5 star hotels but never ever got the service like I did at The Gables 10 out off 10 to everyone who works at the hotel. Rooms/Food - rooms couldn’t fault nor the food ? which I am a fussy person for meals but nothing was any trouble for the kitchen staff to alter their menu just to make something that I could eat my wife she said what was on the menu was better than most big hotels service staff were outstanding one last thing I would like to thank all the staff and the family run hotel for giving us the best break we have had in a long time ?????? will be back soon x looking forward to our next stay with them ??????

A nice wee break with dinner bed and breakfast and a bottle of prosecco. Great value for money. Room needed a little updating but rest of hotel and grounds were really nice. Food lovely, staff friendly. Very quiet considering there were weddings in the hotel.

Great hotel and food excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only negative thing is the four poster rooms have very little sound proofing. Got wakened up during the night with a baby crying.

Booking in was extremely easy, nice touch having the prosecco in the room, went to the restaurant and ordered soup, which was very bland, no flavour whatsoever. The waitress did offer us something else or a complimentry drink. The main meal of chicken pie was lovely, but my husband had a burger that smelt and tasted “funny” so that was also left. The service was poor as we were wanting to order a dessert and waited over half an hour, so ended up just leaving it. Some wedding guests were in the bar and brought us some of their wedding cake. Over all apart from the service which I believe was way understaffed for the size of the hotel, I would come back again as the hotel was lovely, perfect location and very peaceful.

Staff really nice. Good food. But our room unfortunately let it down. Everywhere in the hotel was decorated nice and pretty modern then you step into the room and it was like stepping back in time. Really old wooden furniture. The chest of drawers had a handle missing. The beds headboard was wore away as for the pillows they were like rocks so didn’t get a great sleep. There was also a set of old bunk beds in the room which was bazaar as I booked a double room for my wife and I and that must have been a family room. The bathroom wasn’t much better. We were on the ground floor(room 34) which looked out to a car park so at the shower/bath was a frosted glass window with the most see through net curtain. I do believe that if anyone were in the car park at night and you were in the bathroom with the light on they probably would have seen you. Water from the shower leaked all over the floor. I don’t know i rooms were like that but that room let the hotel down big time. I was going to mention at reception at check out but it was busy and didn’t want to hold anyone back. Last thing is the couple in front of me checking out we’re asked how there stay was and funny enough I wasn’t asked how my stay was. Coincidence. I don’t know.

have been to the gables on numerous occasions ,and have not been let down ,friendly and polite staff,, clean room ,and a varied menu for food can recommend the fish .plus bottle of wine included in the room whats not to like another good stay

Enjoyable 2 days DBB Deal , friendly helpful staff where nothing was too much trouble , food was very good , thanks to a talented chef . rooms were clean and tidy , although does show signs of normal wear due to everyday use . would recommend to other people and will be returning . We thought it was good value for money .

Loved our stay at Gables. Warm friendly staff (kirsty in particular). The rooms were nice and bed was comfortable. The quality of the food in the restaurant was great. Two of our party had steak and reported it was cooked to their taste and my chicken stuffed with haggis was delicious. Breakfast was lovely also and although the menu only offered fried eggs, when i asked for scrambled this wasnt a problem. The deal we got was great value for money and included prosecco in the room. Ee will definitely return!

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. All the staff were polite and friendly and the public rooms were welcoming and clean as was our bedroom. We enjoyed our evening meal, it was much better than we had anticipated and breakfast was good too. Overall for what we paid we feel we got excellent value for money and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or return to the Gables Hotel.
