Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Food was excellent and bar prices reasonable. Staf friendly and professional. Made the mistake of not booking a table for dinner in advance, so would strongly advise doing this. Only negative point being the bedrooms could be doing with an upgrade.

Spent a lovely couple of days here. The hotel was very busy, but that was not detrimental to the service received. The food was very good and the fact that you could mix and match from the a la carte and the bar menu was a bonus. The rooms were much in keeping with the style of hotel with the furnishings being very traditional and they were kept spotlessly clean by the housekeeping staff. Being an old historic building it might be useful to mention if you were of reduced mobility as some rooms are a fair walk to reach, but this did not bother us. All staff were very helpful. I would not hesitate to return.

Positives: Friendly, pleasant, competent staff - especially in bar and dining room! Good food, freshly prepared and well presented. Negatives: 3.00pm check in delayed as room not ready. Standard of room very disappointing - clean but greatly in need of refurbishment and minor repairs. Small bed, ridiculously small wardrobe, opaque glass in lower window to mask totally uninspiring outlook. I assume because we booked on myhotelbreak special offer DBB rate we were allocated only a very basic room. This is perhaps a mistake on the hotel's part as it would discourage us from making a repeat visit, despite the positives noted above.

We had a lovely time at the Barony Hotel and would definitely recommend. The food was great and the staff with the exception of one were amazing. The the who provided us with the treatments we booked separately is an asset to the hotel. I would return just for a massage & facial from her. The rooms were dated but spotless so had no issue. Service great with the exception of Maggsy at the bar who didn't like the fact a drink provided tasted off. The check-in Graeme was really friendly only suggestion would be for somewhere to keep bags when having treatments prior to checking in. We paid £95 per person then to be relaxed then had to get dressed to go back to the car for our bags.

An excellent hotel. The staff were without exception friendly and accomodating. The food was good and we never reached the limit of our allowance. Spectacular grounds with lots of nice walks and that map of Scotland, all within easy reach of Peebles. Hard to fault. The only adv comment I would make is the availability of times for dinner, it would appear that if you don't contact the hotel before you travel then when you check in at 3.00 the only times available are either very early or late. It has happened before to us so I will be adopting the phone ahead on our next break.

Our room was a standard room as we had our dog with us but is was a bit basic and tired. The toilet moved when you sat on it and the flush made a loud droning noise. The tv had a line across the screen, few stains on the carpet. The food was really nice but it took almost 40 minutes to have our plates taken away after our main course. Hotel grounds nice and quiet location, reception and waiting staff friendly.

This hotel was good , the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Brooke in the dinning room. We had our dog with us and he stayed in the room also he was aloud to go into the lounge. It is about 4 miles outside Peebles so we took the car, there is a lovely walk around the river.

Spent two wonderful days at barony castle. Staff are very attentive, the food, both breakfast and dinner are first class. There bar prices are very reasonable for a hotel. All in all I would highly recommend.

Food and service was excellent. Unfortunately room 111 was above leisure centre and was like a steam room didn’t sleep for two days. Even although was given two fans as did not have another room to move us too.

We are just back from 2 nights stay at Barony Castle. I have stayed there many times over the years with training for the ambulance service and as simply a guest enjoying the good friendly service and the beautiful grounds round about. We had dinner bed and breakfast on both days and enjoyed both very much. Staff work things differently now due to covid rules..but they aim to keep the guests safe and we were still able to use the swimming pool..just had to book a time. Now we are all doing stay vacations I would recommend booking here and exploring the area.

Our stay here was fine. The hotel itself is nice enough, reception area nice and welcoming and bar and restaurant very nice . The conservatory could do with a little bit of a spruce up, it could be so much nicer with some fake plants and nice flowers or ornaments and lamps. It felt a bit grubby to be honest. Our room was fine, clean and tidy , the tv is small and the reception is terrible so it pixelated all the time. The food was fantastic , we ate from the bar menus and the selection was great and there was a good deal on tails Sunday- Thursday £5 each. Staff were lovely and very attentive the whole time The most negative thing I have to say is that we were unable to access the pool and sauna area, which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. This was due to it being fully booked well in advance, by guests and private leisure members. I feel like it should be made clearer on the website that booking can be made prior to arriving. We were very very disappointed. Overall though everything else was up to standard.
