we had a lovely 2 day break at the crown and mitre hotel in Carlisle. spotless hotel, staff were helpful and courteous. food was perfect and the hotel is in an ideal position for town centre.

Sun eve stay 29 Jan at the Crown n Mitre, inc dinner and breakfast. Complimentary wine on arrival. Several Eve meal choices, we had sunday roast which was very nice. Rooms clean and comfy and our family room was spacious even with addition of travel cot. Had pool to ourselves, another bonus especially as towels provided. Only hiccup was at checkout, receptionist tried to charge us for eve meals, not realising we had been on dbb tariff. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Following a slight hiccup on checking in in relation to the 'Best Available Room' offer we had a wonderful stay. The room was spacious and aside from a dusty lower shelf which appeared to have been missed on the cleaning rota everything was of a good standard and clean. Great food, great service and small but perfectly acceptable pool & spa bath.

A lovely Hotel which provided a great stopover driving North and I would recommend this to anyone. Staff were most helpful and very efficient. Room was very comfortable and the food (Dinner and Breakfast) was fantastic. Only issue was trying to locate the Hotel. The frontage opens into pedestrianised City centre and has a Postcode that Satnav has great difficulty finding. The Hotel car park at the rear has a different Postcode and had we been aware of that we would have found it far quicker. It would be of help for MyHotel to publish the car park Postcode, which is CA3 8HB. It will ensure future users suffer far less stress!!

The hotel is well-located for the town centre and it was easy to find a space in the car park on a Sunday, at least. The hotel seems to have been refurbished to a good standard and rooms are comfortable and clean with the facil you'd expect at a large hotel. Despite its town centre location, it was very quiet as it is in a pedestrianised area. Contrary to the blurb which came with the Myhotelbreak booking confirmation, we were not upgraded to the best available room automatically but were offered an upgrade if we paid a supplement. To be fair, once we drew attention to the Myhotelbreak terms, the reception staff upgraded us without any fuss. As regards the food, there was a good range of choices on the set menu (about 5 per course including vegetarian) and the standard of the food was OK, if nothing special. Waiting staff were very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was the usual large, British hotel offering - again, OK but nothing special. Overall, this was good value for money for the Sunday DBB price offered through Myhotelbreak.

An impressive and large hotel, which in parts could do with some TLC. Our overnight stay however, felt more intimate, due to the pleasantness of the reception, waiting and cleaning staff. Our room was a reasonably sized double with a well-equipped ensuite bathroom. It was in the annex which meant venturing across the outside courtyard, not much fun in the rain. The view was of two uninspiring brick walls, but at least it meant it was free of traffic and pedestrian noise. The bath towels were generously large and of a high quality. However, the base of the bathroom door showed signs of wear. My partner enjoyed his early morning swim in the hotel pool, and I enjoyed a mid-morning prosecco for only £3.95. Breakfast was fine, with a good selection. The hotel's position is excellent - an easy walk from the station, the Cathedral, Castle and the fascinating Tullie museum. We really enjoyed our first visit to Carlisle, and I have already recommended The Crown and Mitre to friends.

Had a Sunday night saver- great value. Well appointed room with nice toiletries . Had lovely evening meal with very good choice on table d'hote menu. Excellent breakfast. Staf very helpful and pleasant. In great location in city centre. Hotel has parking Which is a real bonus given its location. Enjoyed a party night at this hotel at Christmas which prompted this return visit. Will be back!

Had a lovely stay at this hotel....great deal....food was delish....perfect location for Carlisle town centre. We also used the pool, jacuzzi was lovely and warm.....very friendly staff.

This was a return visit to this hotel and we are very pleased we did. Our room was huge with two beds and was clean with a well stocked tea tray although the decor was a bit tired. Other rooms on the same floor are being renovated so maybe our room will be next. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we had great fun with Chloe and her colleague in the dining room, The meals in the dining room were excellent and decent sized portions and there was a good selection o the usual things at breakfast with the added choice of omelettes, boiled eggs, kippers etc on request. We were on a deal so excellent value for money as well, just a pity Carlisle is so far away from us or we would go more often

Nice hotel, great location. Staff are friendly and provide an excellent service. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Provided with a complimentary glass of wine which was a nice touch. Food in restaurant was not as good as previous visit but would still return and recommend this hotel.

Great three day chill out break.Nice touch with a glass of wine on arrival. Very friendly hotel,all staff really pleasant,Food was really nice,with a good choice....Breakfast again very nice,with plenty of choices.....room was clean & tidy,& very cosy.....Unbeatable value for money......Very well run hotel,nothing seems too much bother.Looking forward to our next visit.....Well done Crown & Mitre !!

An excellent choice ! A lovely grand old building, centrally placed for the town centre. We had a great Sunday saver deal. Would definitely go there again. Only fault was the noise of the 'fans' outside / below our window.
