Arrived before our check in time, our room was ready, staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough for us, Our room was lovely & clean, fantastic size with 2 Double beds seating area, flat screen tv, tea/coffee making facilities, iron & iron board in the room,Had our dinner in the Hotel it was lovely & staff quick efficient bring it out, The only downside is the breakfast lye out it was terrible cereal, juice, was aside the hot food so had to que to get breakfast, if you wanted fried eggs or any other requirements you had to ask for them which was I nightmare as other food was buffet style. Would definitely return back. One more thing my partner fell all his length in the Car park it was very icy and hadn't been gritted he is in alot pain, he has chipped his tailbone which is going to take a good few weeks to heal nightmare.

This refurbished hotel looks fantastic with rooms and public spaces being very tastefully decorated and in immaculate condition. Food and service were also excellent.

When you enter the hotel the new reception area and bar looks amazing, great to relax and enjoy a drink and snack. The room was very disappointing. Dated, cold and stains on the bed sheets and covers. I understand it will take time to update the rooms, but there is no excuse for stains on the bed sheets and covers. Due to the extremely slow service in the restaurant on our last stay, we chose to eat out on this stay. When we spoke to the staff, they told us that management are not employing enough staff to cope with the amount of guests, and as there was a wedding taking place the bar and restaurant were suffering as a result. When we eventually received our food it was very tasty, but having to wait for over an hour between starters and mains is unacceptable. I did email the manager, and he replied to thank me for the feedback and said he would phone me to discuss my concerns, that was a few months ago and I still have not received a phonecall.

We have stayed here 4 times and to be honest this was the least enjoyable stay. Main issue was with dinner service or lack of, 1 hr 15mins between starter and main course is not acceptable and we were not the only ones. Breakfast was a bit of a shambles also, had to wait for a table, wait for plates, wait for bread, wait for cups, wait for food etc. seem to be nothing but very young staff with no senior supervision. Unsure if we will return.

Gorgeous hotel where renovations have already been done. Our room was the one Not renovated, old fashioned but big & spotless clean.Very enjoyable stay and would return.Staff very nice too.Added option for 3 course meal for £20 but wasn't told it was a 'set menu, so would just have Normal menu next time as I am a bit fussy.

We enjoyed our stay at the Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine. The room we had was good and suitable for us and our dog. The bathroom was also good. The two dinners we had were first class, but the breakfasts were not as good, depending when you went, some food trays were empty. The staff were friendly and helpful. The problem I had while staying at the hotel, I slipped and fell, on the polished marble foyer, splitting my head open. Two guests and 2 members of staff came to my assistance and a member of staff gave me first aid and did not need to go to hospital. I hope the incident was put into an accident book. We did not get our free bottle of wine, as per our booking. The only other comment, we felt it was excessive to charge £15 per night for our dog, when we bring covers for beds and waterproof mats for his food and water dishes and is never left alone in the bedroom.

Friday 28/12: At the Riverside Hotel Irvine just now, not long checked in - main entrance/restaurant/seating area/reception all looks lovely, obviously been renovated to a high standard. The room is a great size, two double beds which is great, bathroom is nice. It’s a bit tired though, bit dark and dull, worn chairs, marks, scuffs and chips on furniture & cushions etc and we have a light that doesn’t work. Will update on food/service/shower etc as I experience it ? Dinner was nice enough, drinks service was so slow - they did keep apologising but needs sorting. I had a burger which was very pink - was just told they were cooked medium not really my taste for a burger but again it’s personal opinion. Starters were lovely, brownie in the sundae was horrible, actually inedible. Drink selection and prices from the bar are fab! Saturday 29/12: Bed was reasonably comfy, wee bit hard but that’s personal opinion. Nice blackout curtains so got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was on until 10am so arrived about 9:30. Only two members of staff on and it was quite busy so waited about 5 minutes to get sat down. Buffet breakfast with cereal, pastries, toast & cooked food: tomatoes, potato scone, bacon, sausage, scrambled egg and beans. The cooked food was a bit luke warm and a few of the items were empty and slow to be replaced. Ordered fried eggs from the kitchen. Food was tasty enough. Seem to be a lot of issues with the tea and coffee constantly running out and being slow to be replaced (I don’t drink it was just next to the self serve table it was on). We went out for the day and got back at 4pm to find the room hadn’t been serviced at all. We had no toilet roll, no toiletries, bins weren’t emptied beds weren’t made. Phoned reception who said they’d get someone in to sort it out and they were sorry - that was it... very poor standard there rather disappointing. There were so many trays of dirty plates and glasses etc in the corridors all night and day, wasn’t very pleasant to see. Sunday 30/12: went for breakfast about 9:30am again, no fresh orange juice out, no bread out and half the cooked food dishes empty and no tea and coffee by the looks of it again. Once that was all sorted had a nice breakfast as the food it tasty enough. Checked out easily and went on our way! Overall for paying £54.50 I can’t complain too much but there are some things I would expect as standard in any hotel that were a bit disappointing here. I think it could be fabulous but definitely issues to iron out. I’m sure people have had an amazing time here, I’m just posting my personal experience this weekend! I wouldn’t rush to return but if I was heading back to Irvine I would definitely give it another chance.

I stayed here with my partner from 22nd December till 24th December. We had booked The Arran Suite, on getting to the room we were disappointed to find a bottle of Buckfast lying near our door, not the best of welcomes. Once in the room, we were really happy at the standard of the room. It was a pity that the heating wasn't working and after speaking with the manager, we were moved/upgraded to The Riverside Suite. The only word to describe this suite is wow. 2 bedrooms, 3 toilets, jacuzzi bath, 2 sitting rooms and a balcony. The place is huge. It was that good, we didn't want to go out. We ate the first night in the hotel and we both enjoyed the food. I know the hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment but if they replicate the standard of the bar, foyer, restaurant and suites then the hotel will be top notch. The only thing I would say is that the pictures online of the suite dont do it justice.
