Being between Christmas and New Year, the hotel was quiet but we were made very welcome. All staff were very friendly and contributed to a most enjoyable break. We will visit again.

Had a great night,lovely food and Xmas party.Rooms are in need of refurbishment but think it is work in progress.Didn't have a great sleep as room was far too hot even after turning g down heating and opening window.Friendly staff.

Arrived for a 1 night stay. Lovely public areas all decorated for Christmas. Upgraded to a superior room without charge. Great room very clean with new carpets, new bathroom. Good fluffy towels. Great WiFi. Went down to dinner to discover we were the only guests on Thursday night. Had the festive menu which was very good. Great staff at hotel, very friendly waitresses who could've enough for us. Good nights sleep and good breakfast. Would definitely return.

Had a wonderful 1 night country beak at this beautiful hotel. So welcoming. Room was very comfertable and tasteful. What was the most notieable in the hotel was the Christmas decorations. They blendid in with the country theme...no tack. Staf friendly and helpful. Dogs welcome. Will return

overall had agood stay at the tinto just a couple of small issues we booked dinner for 7 oclock first evening but it was 7-45 before we sat at table also last day breakfast no juice no fruit and no yoghurt all this was previously available staff were friendly and helpful hotel is a wee bit on the tired side.

Once again had a great stay at the Tinto it is becoming one of our favourite places to stay we just love it. Went to the tribute night Freddie Mecury although he was just ok but Freddie a hard act to follow we still had a fabulous time loved the whole weekend can not wait to return five stars from us. Location, staff, food atmosphere all terrific keep up the good work very satisfied customers.

What a lovely place! Really nice setting, not far from Biggar. Restaurant was very busy with a coach party but we booked our dinner for 8pm and we're seated in a smaller dining area with a few other diners. Food was delicious, well presented and waiting staff were very professional, no complaints at all. Our room was nice, clean and comfy, wine in our room, although the bathroom and shower weren't really great. Shower over bath from hoer tap rather than electric but all in all that's the only downside. We'll definitely be back

Lovely hotel and has the charm of an old hotel which we love its full of character. Our bedroom was big but tired looking but clean and the bathroom has been newly updated, however, the shower caused us an issue we could only get cold water and we put on hoer it dropped the pressure to a trickle which was a bit inconvenient. We went on a Sunday night DBB plus bottle of wine which was in our room when we arrived we did ask at reception if we could bring it down for dinner but told we could not do this I must admit this is the first hotel we have been to that did not allow this so if the hotel is reading this please think about giving this option to your customers as not everyone wants to drink in their rooms so ended up bringing the complimentary bottle of wine home with me. Apart from my little moan the staff were amazing and very attentive and the food was great this offer is great value for money and well worth a visit.

Arrived having requested a 'quiet room', receptionist informed us nothing showing on booking. Our room was spacious but clearly hadn't been cleaned ready for guests(thick dust, body hairs in sink, used coffee cups, etc). Husband arranged a room change from reception. Main hotel areas were nicely decorated. But guest rooms were in a 70's time warp. Our 2nd room smelt of fishy-glue! Staffing levels were very thin on the ground. Only one staff covering bar, dining room/meal orders. Staff polite and helpful but very overstretched. Food very nice but took an age to arrive. Lounge area could do with comfier seats - not the hard upright ones only available, to the ONE comfy settee on offer. Very disappointed with this hotel. More so as it was a rare night away via a 'gift voucher' from our mum.

For what we paid it was good value. Certainly areas of the hotel could be improved and updated and I understand improvements are ongoing. When we went to the bar for a drink we waited quite some time and eventually had to go and find staff on each occassion. As part of our deal, we had a bottle of wine included and chose to take it to dinner with us only to be told we couldn't actually do that. The waitress explained that we could drink our wine in the lounge outside the restaurant and she could keep it until we finished dinner but we couldn't actually crossover the line into the diner. We found this bizarre... We found the room a bit dated but clean and the bathroom completely taken over by the bath. The shower left a lot to be desired - very hard to control water temperature and no real power to it. Would definitely benefit from electric showers. We enjoyed breakfast. We also would have liked to have left the car and explored Biggar and as it was too far to walk we thought about ordering a taxi but overheard a group of guests being told that she was having great difficulty getting them a taxi as it was during the day and the taxi firm tends to work at night. Surely a taxi firm would be glad of the custom coming from the hotel . This unfortunately would put us off returning to the hotel as you are very much stranded should you have a drink and cannot drive.

What a wonderful hidden gem. This hotel has a lovely feel and atmosphere to it. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will do anything to help you. There are some parts of the hotel which are quite dated but at the end of the day it is a country house hotel. Would definitely go back there again.

We stayed over night on 10th September 2016 Room very basic The view from room was a concrete jungle just a mess some back of hotel area with weeds horrible . Food was good and staff nice

Another fantastic stay at the Tinto everything about or stay was excellent. The food, the accommodation, the location and especially the staf combined made for a very enjoyable weekend Would highly recommend this hotel and cannot wait for my next visit.

Hotel looked beautiful, after walking through into corridor our room was on there was a different smell from the rest, although the room was nice and clean. There was mould around our window which looked out onto kitchens. Bathroom again was clean, however mould/orangey staining around the tiles and grout, which put me off using bath/shower. Breakfast was OK, not the best but beans were of a cheap variety definitely not hp beans, but not the worst breakfast I've had either. Nice choice of cereals, jams, and fruit. At times of eve meals there was a long wait so by time we got food my 2 yr old daughter was rolling around on floor at our table bored and over gry/tired. Then we ordered dessert and waited ages for that to come. Woman serving asked me to watch my daughter, which I obviously had been doing intently and making sure she wasn't in way of staff serving. So felt a bit insulted that she felt she had to state the obvious. I then asked if we could be seated outwith dining area as i knew my daughter was too tired, and if I tried to put her in seat she wd start rebelling or . As the very helpful young man helped us to move I overheard and saw said lady moaning about us to her colleague. I felt so insulted and frustrated, and felt as an older woman this was extremely unprofessional. Tainted my experience and for both our breakfasts after that I asked for us to be sat in the waiting area again.

A lovely relaxing night away was what we wanted, and this was exactly what we got! Lovely room and lively food. Only negative would be the water pressure making having a shower not so good, maybe need electric power showers?

The room was basic but everything else was fantastic ,staff were polite and friendly also knew what they were talking about .But the best thing o was the meals !!!! They were amazing ,they have one awesome chef .Will definitely be back xx
