Macdonald Cardrona Hotel Golf & Spa, Peebles

This hotel was not what I expected from a four star hotel. It is very tired. We booked an executive room - looked like bleach had been spilled on carpet. Room not serviced for us until after 7.00pm and that only after we complained. Trollies that cleaning staff used were left on the corridor until after this time. Because carpet was being fitted off reception staff were harassed especially at breakfast time. On first day tea and coffee at breakfast was being served out of flasks. We arrived earlier than check in. Asked where we could buy a coffee and were directed to Strikes bar but coffee machine wasn’t working and no alternative was suggested. It is all down to standards and we expected more!

we were disappointed that we had 2 camp beds for the children, my older grandchild couldn't sleep in the bed so he came into mine during the night and I went into his I couldn't get to sleep either and I fell out of it there were loads of flies in the dining room, after I complained staff said they would have the area sprayed and it was slightly better the next day

A lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. On arriving I was given an upgrade to a double room rather than a twin. The room was big and had a lovely view, however, it needed some tlc.

We seem to find our way to Cardrona quite often and find it good value on the My Hotel deals Everything was good, rooms, service,food family came down including three grandkids and thoroughly enjoyed their day. Hotel is in a lovely setting and the golf course looked in good condition. Guess we will be back again so that says it all

We had a great overnight at the Cardrona Hotel. Beautiful room overlooking the golf course. Breakfast was delicious, made to order therefore nice and fresh, not a hot buffet breakfast which is usually dried up by the time we sit down to eat it. We have been a few times and always enjoyed our stay.

Very good value for money. The hotel is lovely and modern, the bedroom was very spacious and cream tea very good. The dining room wasn't as organised - we had to wait 30 mins before they even took our order and even then I asked for someone to take it. Everybody was fed up waiting! On the whole it was a brilliant break among the hills- would return ?

Lovely location. Unfortunately many people had been allocated wrong rooms upon check in and lengthy wait for this to be rectified. Great leisure facilities with lovely staff. Excellent buffet breakfast and scones. Poor quality of panini for lunch. Rooms spacious with comfy beds though could do with updating.

Overall the break was very good. All staff were very professional and friendly. Slightly disorganised in the Restaurant as we were billed for items which we did sign for and we struggled to get a time which was suitable for us so had to opt for a bar meal instead on one of the evenings.

Overall a good stay. Hotel seemed unorganised. Check in took a long time, confusion over table booking for dinner. In the end receptionist said he didn't see a booking but hoped it would be alright. No menu or notification of what was for dinner. Asked waiting staff - didn't know. Breakfast very chaotic. Took a long time to get a table and had to request tea a few times before it eventually arrived. The food at breakfast was very good.The room was very clean and well equipped. The ice machine was broken and the bar had run out of quite a few things.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel easy to park, the rooms over looked the golf course 202,204,320 the rooms were very comfortable large comfy beds had a a great sleep, nice easy chairs to admire the views. Really liked the bath robes, bottles of water replenished every day and the the room had a safe. The food was exceptional absolutely cannot fault anything about the food the dinner great choice 3 soups plus all the starters loved the rye bread with the cullen skink. The duck was fabulous with the red cabbage and the sticky pudding enjoyable and light in texture. There is a large selection of continental goods, gulten free, pastries the most amazing flapjacks I have ever tasted in a long while and a conserve selection of jams and spreads. We watched the rugby in spikes bar where every table was full, there was a bar there but all food and drink had to be ordered upstairs and brought downstairs. I would say during the day limited staff were working maybe more staff needed when you had to wait at the bar for drinks. The 1st hotel I ever stayed you had to book for breakfast but fully understand why as the food and beverage areas are pretty small in comparison to the rooms. Apart from this had a nice stay eager to try the other Macdonald hotels ..

Lovely chill out break with a friend. Pleasant helpful staff and wonderful food, what's not to like! Leisure pool is a good size and easy to get in and out of pulse a steam room and sauna. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time at Cardrona.

Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Really nice bedrooms with comfy beds. The only criticism regarding the room there were quite a few stains on the carpet. Would not deter me staying here again. The food is excellent and look forward to returning in the near future.

Enjoyed 2 nights break here. However found the front rooms had a bit of road noise from the nearby main road, particularly when the road is wet from rain. Moved to a better room readily when we said this disturbed our sleep. Food very good though breakfast a bit chaotic when busy, as was on one of our mornings.

All good except for price of drinks. Asked for wine glasses for room and was informed there is a corkage charge £14 Bit steep to say the least.....
