Our room was ok but the TOENAIL clippings on the floor was disgusting. Clearly this room had not been hoovered. The kettle would not boil without holding the switch down (is this safe) I don't think so. The toilet would not flush properly and this was a disabled room and water was dripping from the handle on to the floor. Overall we were disappointed with the room and this spoilt our stay.

Stayed at hotel 12-14th December 2014. Found the hotel to be very clean and iinviting. Staff were very pleasant. Hotel is situated perfectly if you want to look around Inverness. One thing though would be to alert the staff in the restaurant in the morning that they should remember about foid rotation and monitoring, both mornings I noted staff refilling cereal containers from the tubs in drawer and this was before all the cereal in the cintainer was used! Means that cereal at bottom of container was not being used! Just a heads up for the future. Really enjoyed my stay though. Xx

The only reason not a ten for room is a table lamp would have been good to have.

We loved our stay at the Columba, all the better for getting a special newspaper deal for Classicbritain. It is not a new hotel of course so don't expect a generic product with no character. The Columba has loads of character (even if you count occasional creaky floorboards!)with the friendliest staff you could hope to meet. We didn't have the luxury of a river view but would have been upgraded if availability had been there (our second night was a Friday hence all river ones booked). Our room (114) over-looked the street at the back and suffered from bins rolling/emptying and some loud chat but nothing that kept us awake. Our room was clean, nicely warm and comfortable with a good overhead shower in the bath and scorching hot water in the washbasin. One the first floor there is a comfy lounge (with Christmas tree then) where you can relax and read the provided paper while gazing out at the town over the river Ness. The MacNabs bar provided decent looking food:we enjoyed the cullen skink (delicious creamy fish soup with bits)with over cooked warm, hard roll which was nicely replaced in an instant.Adding a

I booked this hotel because it was cheap at the time through a special promotion. I did not expect it to be great but I was very impressed. The staff were most helpful and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.

The hotel is well situated for the city centre and only a 5 minute brisk walk to the train station, as we were only B&B I can only comment on the breakfast food which was excellent and the staff were very attentive, the bedroom was a good size and had all amenities we required like hairdryer, iron with ironing board and kettle. We will be happy to return to the Columba in the future for a short break.

Rooms and service were very good. Breakfast was first class but the dinner was not up to scratch. The night that I included in my booking was passable (just) but on Friday the 14th November we tried to eat there only to be told that they had run out of fish! I find this incredible for a restaurant of the calibre that the hotel is attempting to provide. Luckily we were able to order fish at another outlet which was half the price as well.

We were in room 106. The room was adequate but could have done with another chair. Also no waste bin in the room although there was a small one in the bathroom. Apart from that everything was fine. Maids were very friendly. Would come back

Our stay was very nice and busy with the Mod being on in inverness. The hotel is nice enough just a few let downs ,we were in a twin room at the back of the hotel, and the room had no heating on and still the room was very warm and stuffy, and as other guest reports I can imagine in the summer months must have been awful. The beds were very comfy and nice clean bedding, the TV is small and old looking and remote never worked. Also the phone and clock radio all as one didn't work, and was on at mains, asked for a wake up call that's when i noticed, lucky we woke up when needed,so not very good if catching transport. Just one other thing bottled water would be nice if supplied as room so hot also never had any glasses for drinking in room, had to keep washing cups out.Staff were nice in hotel, breakfast was nothing to shout about, but a nice pot of tea was had.

I was in room 104 and I have been in the Columba many times over the past 20years and it was the worst room I have been in My wife and I had 3 sleepless nights due to the fans on the outside of the building

Hotel in prime location. Very comfortable and good value for money. Staff very pleasant but service slow in restaurant. We had to ask twice to have used dishes removed from our table. Also no member of staff to greet guests in restaurant. This meant guests were unsure if they should wait to be seated, or ignore the sign and select their own table.

Very enjoyable stay of two nights dbb. Staff very helpful to all requirements. Meals excellent and dining room staff very attentive. Only criticism would be that whilst the end suite had a waste bin there was not one in the bedroom whichwould have been handy.

Location excellent for walking to town, along the river and to Eden Court Theatre. Would rate hotel 3 star definitely not 4. Our standard bedroom was at the back was very small with decor tired and needing updated but lovely modern bathroom and both very clean. Lounge area upstairs is drab and needs modernised. Bar overlooks river and is modern, stylish and welcoming. Restaurant is at back of hotel and didn't like the fact that there were no windows it always seemed dark and enclosed. Buffet breakfast was very good choice and quality but dinner was very poor quality cooking and people around us complained about their food. Lots of staff in the hotel and they were all friendly and helpful. Overall mixed review with good and bad points.

Received a very good rate for bed & breakfast but you do get what you pay for. Although the hotel is situated by the river we were not lucky enough to get a room with a view. We were placed in room 124 which was at the back of the hotel looked out on the rubbish bins, had a heavy door bang shut every so often which literally made our room vibrate. The bed was really lumpy and uncomfortable. On the positive side, the room was warm, had nice extras, like iron and a safe. Breakfast was average self service fayre. For the
