Nice hotel, good atmosphere, great breakfast and nice public areas. The rooms are not up to the price paid. Beds are old and misshapen and decoration in the bedroom we had was very basic but a decent size.

friendly efficient staff, our room a bit dated but understand other rooms are refurbished and all rooms soon to be, food was good and Abba tribute Band were great, we would certainly return.

Had a lovely stay at Tinto Hotel. Unfortunately we were in one of the Bedrooms that had not been refurbished, having said that it was spotlessly clean. Excellent meal at night and lovely freshly cooked breakfast. We thought it was real value for money.

Stayed here for one night. Lovely old hotel with beautiful staircase and stained glass windows located in quiet countryside area. Room was very nice, staff friendly and efficient and food lovely. Would recommend.

My parents had a lovely stay in this hotel, combined with a murder mystery night. The only comment they made that may be seen as a con, is that the bedrooms could be doing with a bit of rejuvenation but were clean and tidy all the same. They are looking to book again in December for a tribute night so on the whole I would say they had a great experience. Particularly on the friendliness of the staff, quality of food and how reasonably priced the drinks are.

Lovely hotel and downstairs is very elegant with lots of scottish charm. We stayed in a room not yet upgraded. The bed was comfy and the room itselfwas plrasant. The bathroom though was terrible. the shower off the taps was impossible to work. if you got the temperature right then if anyone ekse in the hotel ran a tap it went either freezing cold or skin burning hot. Very dangerous really. if you tried have a bath then the cold just trickled through.The toilet was wedged between the wall and the bath . you literally had no room to move. The staff though were brilliant! great food and delicious breakfast.

The tribute night was not a success for my party of 6. The act was great, however, the venue was changed from the main ballroom to a smaller function room which led to us having a table with a view of a wall. The entire performance was spent with our table looking as the side of the stage area. The performer tried to involve us but we could not hear him speak when he came round the corner - we were behind the speakers. If I wanted to listen to Michael Buble I would have bought a CD. We wanted to see his performance! Since this weekend was an annual event away with friends and I was the organiser, I was not only disappointed but very embarrassed. ( I even visited the hotel on the Monday before, to confirm the booking and was shown the ballroom as the venue and assured that tables were pre-allocated). We have photos of the view and we will not be slow in advising our friends of this hotels focus on profit above its guests enjoyment. I don't know who made the decision to change rooms but they turned a great weekend into a great disappointment. For the rest of the weekend the bedrooms had spider webs on the corner next to the bed and the bar was small and not prepared for the event. In summary I would certainly recommend the tribute act but not the hotel.

Room was very comfortable with t/c facilities but some small pkts of biscuits would have been welcome with a note of Internet password located somewhere in the room. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was very good and plentiful.

The hotel and presentation was very good and perhaps a supplement on a more extensive menu would be appreciated. Unfortunately our bed was broken and we had a very disturbed nights sleep. The hotel did try to address it with a reduction on a bottle of wine at dinner. However despite this disturbed and long night we enjoyed the experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, everything was very well presented and the staff were extremly polite and helpfull. My wife had recently broken her arm, and the waitress offered and went out her way to cut up her main meal and again at breakfast time, this was greatly appreciated. We very much enjoyed our stay. It was peaceful, welcoming and the staff were obliging. The shower in our room was an issue - either being boiling hot or freezing cold so unusable. The staff offered us another room or the use of another shower, but the other shower in another room was the same. They are refurbishing and they say this will be addressed. Can't ask for any more than that. The refurbishing they have done is lovely and very much in keeping with the style of the whole hotel. The grounds are lovely and the situation easily accessible. We will go back again.

We enjoyed our 2 nights DDB + wine mid-week break which was very good value. We had a refurbished room which was very comfortable, particularly the firm beds. The only drawback was a shortage of hot water when large groups were staying. After a cold shower the first day, I soon learnt to check the water temperature. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. However, I would suggest having a bell at reception to be able to call when staff are not there. The food was good although one or two dishes were rather below standard. The desserts were excellent as was the breakfast, cooked to order and copious. It was lovely to sit or have a stroll in the grounds after a meal. We would, certainly, consider having a break there again.

Excellent value 2 night mid-week break. Staff extremely pleasant at all times. Service was splendid, even though a large coach party were also staying 1 of the nights. The staff and management were very attentive at all times. Lovely peaceful setting, lots of seating available in reception/bat area. The food was well presented and cooked to perfection. Varied menu. bedroom on front was spacious, clean. new towels daily, bathroom on small side but adequate. would certainly recommend.

Very disappointing! I had high expectations especially after recent other hotel experiences via Classic Britain however this place did not live up to expectations. There appeared to be one member of staff in attendance throughout the hotel on the afternoon of our arrival with people waiting a length period of time in reception so i went looking and eventually found her in the restaurant area. I had specifically asked for a room in a quiet location as i am easily disturbed however we were allocated a room directly opposite double doors at the top of the stairs which meant direct people traffic. I wasn't really concerned at this early on as the hotel appeared to be very quieting and lacking residents however later that evening, a large group of students and cyclists appeared. We could also hear our neighbours clearly having conversations through the walls and they were pensioners not loud drunks! The room was also above the entrance to reception and faced the car park so lots of traffic, people noise not to mention the railway! Absolute hell! Constantly disturbed throughout the night and early hours of the morning, we had late checkout of 12 noon but were so tired, disappointed and weary we left around 10am after breakfast. The rooms were quite a let down also, we were aware they are currently having a refurb however the bathroom decor, fixtures and fittings were old and worn and quite unclean. There was also a broken toilet roll holder on the wall which caused me a couple of injuries as the space between the bath and wall to sit on the pan was very limited. As i turned around to sit down on the toilet on one occasion it caught my butt cheek and came off the wall, my butt cheek was gashed & bruised the next day, very unpleasant. We were on a DBB break, the food was "okay", choice very limited and not much atmosphere in the restaurant, we felt quite awkward actually. All in all, not a very pleasant experience, sadly disappointing.
