Inn at Lathones, St Andrews

The room we had was very cold but I think there had been a leak in the room we were supposed to be in so they switched the room we were assigned to and the heating hadn’t been in long enough. We had previously been to the hotel and had been upgraded to a luxury room the first time therefore this time the room and bathroom were a bit of a let down. The main difference was the bathroom. The one we had this time was a lottery with the shower whether it would run hot or cold and quite a small bath whereas previously we had a jacuzzi bath. We thought maybe we would have been upgraded as we were the only people in the hotel on the first night. But this wasn’t to be. The staff were lovely and very attentive and the food was really tasty.

While we picked a visit that ended up being at the same time as storm Babbet arrived it didn’t stop the staff at the hotel delivering a wonderful stay. Jack the GM looked after his guests and his staff making sure they got home while taking on extra duties to look after his guests. The whole team were friendly and made you feel welcome. Would certainly go back perhaps looking more closely at the long range weather forecast.

central heating turned off or broken in our room were advised by staff we could get oil filled heater at reception if required why were the oil filled heaters not put in the rooms before our arrival when the heating was turned off or broken why did staff initially advise us the heating is on a time clock and will come on later they must have known the heating was turned off or broken when we booked in at 3-00pm the hotel rooms are cold in this old stone building and requires heating summer and winter it was warmer outside the hotel room we do not expect to book a hotel room with no heating working also do not expect to have to obtain a heater from a reception area service good - food good - staff good heating in the dinning room was on thankfully to keep us comfortable during our meal heating problem let the hotel down and feel we were not informed truthfully about the situation regarding the heating the hotel should not be taking bookings if the heating is not working in our opinion especially at the their prices they are asking the hotel let itself down on this occasion unfortunately

We had two lovely nights here , from the time we arrived staff were professional friendly and helpful , our twin room was clean roomy had modern decor and bathroom was finished to a high standard . The food was excellent and there was an extensive menu . A gem of a find

Did not make it to the hotel as my wife was taken ill Phoned and told them but unfortunately as it was on our way to the hotel. They have taken the full amount from our account As they said it was within the 48 hrs cancellation policy .so be aware if you have to cancel.

A (repeat) enjoyable weekend stay at Inn at Lathones, with the warmest of welcomes from Manager, Jack, plus Emma, Laura and all the staff. Clean, comfortable rooms and good breakfast plus evening dining with plenty of choice, should you be staying more than one night. Thank you for looking after us and making our stay a warm one! We will certainly return.

Entire exterior of buildings were very tired. Bedroom floor, of wood, had been washed and was still wet in parts when took occupancy. Felt cold in room, dining room and breakfast room. Staff did provide portable electric heater for use in bedroom which helped. Shower room had been refitted and decorated recently which was to a good standard. No handrails or floor mat were provided in shower cubicle which caused concern. Staff were courteous and helpful. Would not return to this hotel.

Overall a very enjoyable stay….food and drink service very good…food was lovely. Coffee at breakfast and in the room very poor, couldn’t drink it. Issue with log burner in the room…spoke to management about it, offered to move us room but for us it wasn’t worth the hassle as just going for dinner at the time and we were only staying one night.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at this hotel. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back. The staff are so welcoming and the manager Jack couldn't do enough for us. Lovely rooms abd the food is fantastic.

Really friendly staff and the food was great. Rooms not the best and difficult to get the room to the right temperature. We would go back as we really enjoyed ourselves. Good hub for exploring St Andrews, Anstruther and Dundee.

Very friendly staff, with good service, comfortable room/bed and great dinner menu with many choices of freshly prepared and beautifully presented food. Breakfast menu was extensive and very good too.

Four off us were booked into the Inn at Lathones. We had 2 twin rooms with ensuite which were fine. The staff were really lovely, especially Ruth. The menu was extensive and the food was really good. Great value for money. We paid £149 each for bed breakfast and evening meal which included a £25 allowance each for both nights towards food/drink.

Staff exceedingly friendly and welcoming, it was a cold afternoon and log fire was on in bar area so coffee was had. Dog was made very welcome. Dinner was excellent and I can recommend the mussels to start and venison burger, no room for pudding. Car parking is plentiful and we will definitely be back in spring time. Thank you

Poor breakfast and not much of it and not appetizing at all, room was lovely , staff were amazing . It was a bit cold in lounge area and in dining room , it's not open till 3pm. Dinner was ok.

Had a lovely nights stay at this hotel. Room was comfortable and clean and the food was delicious. Staff are very friendly, helpful and a credit to the hotel. Would highly recommend.

This is a lovely country pub with accommodation & within easy access to St Andrews. The rooms are apart from the main building set in a court yard. The accommodation was basic but very clean & it had a lovely comfortable king size bed. The bathroom had everything we needed. What really made our stay was the staff & food. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The menu for both dinner & breakfast was extensive & the food was beautifully presented & delicious. The only problem was choosing what to order! Not a problem I often have these days! The only slight criticism I would have is that the dinning room was a large area & although the heating was on it still felt cold. We visited Sunday / Monday & it was very quiet. We now wish we had eaten in the bar as it was very cosy. Otherwise we have no complaints & we both agree we would return.
