The Housel Bay Hotel on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall was originally built in 1894 from locally extracted and hand crafted granite making this the epitome of a British Victorian coastal hotel. Anchored above a private cove, the combination of the unique landscape and history create a wonderful tranquil base for your hotel break in Cornwall. The historic character of the Housel Bay Hotel can still be felt within it’s walls from the Victorian architecture to the many original features remaining unchanged. With its’ very own private bay, Housel Bay offers uninterrupted views of the glorious Cornish coastline.

Wake up to the sound of the waves, and the direct view of the endless Atlantic Ocean from your accommodation at the Housel Bay Hotel. If you prefer not to have a view of the sea you can choose one of the hotels countryside rooms which enjoy lovely inland views of the beautiful Lizard countryside. All of the bedrooms are ensuite and have free ultra-high speed wifi. They contain flat screen televisions, tea/coffee making facilities, vanity areas with a hairdryer, and comfortable beds. The décor of each bedroom is traditional, simple and cosy, and some have original Victorian features.

Housel Bay are lucky enough to be located in the most southerly tip of Cornwall, where it’s rich with fresh Cornish produce right on its door step. Guests can choose from three great places to eat and drink while staying at Housel Bay. The Terrace offers Lunch, Afternoon Tea, and Dinner every day and has panoramic views of Housel Bay, the Garden and the Lizard Peninsular. Breakfast is also served here, which is available to guests and visitors. The signature restaurant, Fallowfields is open Tuesday through to Saturday. The Head Chef Joe is committed to serving only the best, locally sourced fish, dairy, meat and veg, you can be assured you will get the true, great taste of Cornwall. The hotel features two “Housel Standard” rooms. Both have adjoining family rooms, which can be booked on request only basis.

This room has an en-suite and has free ultra high speed wifi. It contains a SMART flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities, vanity area with a hairdryer, and a comfortable bed. Kildown has a adjoining family room, which can sleep two children.

This room has just been completely remodelled to the new modern style. It has a contemporary, fresh look, including ‘wet room’ bathroom.

The Country View rooms have lovely inland views of the beautiful Lizard countryside. There are six Country View rooms. Ruan, Pentreath and Dolor are cosy doubles. Lion and Culdrose are single rooms. In Dolor and Ruan you also have a view of the Lizard lighthouse.

Kuggar just been completely remodelled to the new modern style. It has a contemporary, fresh look, including a modern ‘wet room’ bathroom.

Housel Bay Hotel has six Partial Sea Views rooms. Porthlevan, Vellan, Nare and Leggan are mid sized charming rooms, they offer partial sea views, and also look out at the fields and countryside of the beautiful Lizard Peninsula. Culdrose and Lion are single rooms and offer the same beautiful view. They have been decorated traditionally, and even have some Victorian features.

Vellan can be made into a Twin room. Please let us know any requests at time of booking and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Choose from six Ocean View rooms; Bass, Cadgwith, Kynance, Pentreath, Lower Bay and Coverack. The Ocean View rooms are a cosy double, and feature antique Victorian furniture. All of the Ocean View rooms also offer a beautiful view of our garden and the South West coastal footpath.

All of the Panoramic View Rooms have uninterrupted, wall to wall views of the sea and Cornish coastline. They are our most spacious rooms, and all feature a seating area located in front of the bay windows with direct sea views. A perfect spot to take in nature, and relax. All of the Panoramic View rooms feature King size beds. Predannack features a four-posted bed and Crane can be made into a Twin room.

All of these rooms are en-suite and have free ultra high speed wifi. They each contain a large flat screen SMART HD television, mini-fridges, tea/coffee making facilities and vanity areas with a hairdryer. These rooms are traditionally styled with some original Victorian features.

Lunch is available from 12pm to 3pm everyday. Dinner is available everyday from 6pm – 7:30pm.

Marconi's Bar
Guglielmo Marconi stayed with us on 5th August 1900 when he was conducting his experimental radio transmissions to NewFoundland. Marconi developed the first effective long distance system of radio communication. In his honour the hotel named their Hotel Bar after him!
Join us in Marconi’s for a drink and some delicious nibbles.

Housel Bay Beach – Stunning beach located just below the Hotel (Tidal beach)
A beautiful beach located just a few hundred yards below the Hotel gardens. 

Kynance Cove – Located on the west side of the Lizard and probably the most photographed and painted location in Cornwall, the contrast between the cove’s white sand beach and the dark red and green serpentine rock produces a breathtaking sight.

Cadgwith Cove – Cadgwith is one of those Cornish fishing villages that time seems to have passed by. The beach is still very much the centre of the village with a small fleet of crabbing boats winched up on the beach in front of the boat houses. It is one of the most picturesque fishing villages on the Cornish coast, made famous recently by Monty Halls’ series ‘The Fisherman’s Apprentice’ which featured the cove and the many fishermen that work here.
