The Knockderry Country House Hotel in Cove is a privately owned 4 star hotel with an excellent team of local staff, offering a truly Scottish country house welcome to all visitors to Cove and the Rosneath Peninsula near Loch Lomond. Although there has been a dwelling of some kind on this site for centuries, Knockderry House as it stands today (meaning ‘hill of oak’ in Gaelic) was originally built around 1846 as a summer retreat.

Each of the 15 bedrooms at the Knockderry House Hotel in Argyllshire have been decorated to convey a warm and inviting style of their own. The Library Suite, Master Rooms and most of the Kings have inviting views of Loch Long and the Arrochar ‘Alps’ beyond. Standard Doubles and Small Double rooms are discretely located at the side and rear of the building.

Dining at the restaurant in Knockderry House is an experience all of its own. Relax in the surroundings of the old wood-panelled dining room of the original house which as some glorious stained glass and a stunning outlook over Loch Long. Enjoy the 2 rosette awarded food sourced from quality local suppliers accompanied by a great selection of drinks to supplement your meal.

Each of the bedrooms at the Knockderry Country House Hotel include numerous thoughtful touches: luxury fabrics, crisp Egyptian cotton, Krupp’s coffee makers, sumptuous bathrobes and Arran Aromatics toiletries. We include home baking, freshly ground coffee and loose leaf tea in the Master rooms and Library Suite.

All rooms have flat screen televisions; The King, Master and Library suite all have DVD players and CD players. Free Wi- Fi access is available throughout the hotel including all bedrooms. All rooms are, of course, en-suite.

Small Double Rooms
Finally, the small doubles provide a snug stay at a great value price. These rooms are small in size but still have standard sized double beds and are fully ensuite. and Room 10 have showers and a bath – Room 14 has a walk-in shower.

Standard Double Rooms
The four standard rooms are side-facing and are located within the original Victorian building.
Some have been decorated with touches of antique furniture and the beds are a standard double size.

King Rooms
Each of the four King rooms have been decorated with a fresh modern feel. Each room has a king size bed with no foot board so are perfect for the taller guest. Room 8 and Room 9 have views out over the lawns, Room 11 has a view to the Terrace and Room 16 has a double aspect to the side of the hotel.
Room 8 is also suitable as a family room as it benefits from having a fully sprung fold out sofa bed.

Master Bedrooms
There are four master bedrooms have views of the loch and the gardens and are furnished with king sized four poster beds and roll top baths.

Library Suite
There is only one suite which is situated at the top of the house and offers magnificent views over the loch and down towards Arran and the River Clyde.

The restaurant at this 4 star hotel in Cove has developed a reputation for the quality of its food and has recently been awarded 2 Rosettes from the AA. The restaurant has also been recognised at the 2013, 2014, 2015 and the 2016 Scottish Hotel Awards where they scoped the award for the most romantic hotel in Scotland. In addition they have recently been awarded the newly launched Taste our Best award by Visit Scotland for the range and quality of the Scottish inspired menus,

The team of chefs use the finest seasonal Scottish produce from reliable local and Scottish sources. Scotland has much to offer and they try to demonstrate the range and diversity of Scotland’s produce in the dishes they serve.

Breakfast is served from 7.00 am to 9.45 am Monday to Friday and at Weekends from 8.00 to 9.45 am.

During the summer, the garden terrace is the ideal place for a light lunch or an early evening drink overlooking the lochside. In winter, the Drawing Room with its welcoming fire, makes a suitably comfortable and relaxing environment in which to unwind at the end to a day walking, sailing or exploring the local area.

The bar serves a comprehensive list of Malt Whiskies from around Scotland including two local distilleries, Auchentoshan and Glengoyne. The beers are supplied by local breweries and a wide range of spirits and liqueurs, including a wide range of Scottish Gin is also stocked.

Directions to Knockderry House Hotel in Cove

On leaving the airport take the M8 signposted towards Greenock and the Erskine Bridge.

Cross the Clyde via the Erskine Bridge and take the A82 North, towards Loch Lomond and Crianlarich.

Remain on the A82 ignoring signs for Helensburgh until with Loch Lomond Golf Course on your right, you reach the signpost for " A817 to Garelochhead" where you turn left up the hill.

You remain on this for 10 minutes and reach a small roundabout with signs left to Faslane (ignore) and right to Coulport (take this option). This option runs for a mile and reaches another small roundabout- follow the signs for Coulport again.

Some 4 miles later you reach a crossroads marked ‘accident blackspot’ where you turn left and follow the signs for the hotel, down to the Loch and left along the shore for a mile and a half.

Single Occupancy
