The Sligachan Hotel on the Isle of Skye dates back to the 1830s and is a magnet for climbers who recognise the unique and challenging qualities of the surrounding Cuillins. This area of Skye is also the place to witness the iconic views often featured on postcards and paintings. Acquired by the Campbell family in 1913, the Sligachan hotel has been passed down through the generations and is now operated by the fourth generation. The team are dedicated to preserving the building's historic charm while offering genuine Highland hospitality, aiming to ensure your stay is as unforgettable as the location itself. Should the hotel’s history be of interest, there is a small climbing museum with guest information dating back to the 1800’s.

The Isle of Skye is blessed with an abundance of world-class, fresh, local produce and seafood which makes for an enviable selection of delicious dishes served at the Sligachan Hotel. Only premium ingredients and the finest local fare is served.
Also available is a fantastic menu featuring some of the best pub fare on Skye, including a variety of fresh seafood, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. While the restaurant is being prepared for dinner, the bar remain open for drinks and coffee between 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm.
For hotel guests, Lunch is served 12pm – 3pm in Seumas’ Bar when open and Dinner (5:30pm-8:30pm) is served in Mackenzies Bar & Bistro with unparalleled views out to the Cuillin Hills.
Harta Restaurant will reopen on 1st November 2024 with the following schedule:

A popular spot for climbers, locals, and visitors since 1987, Seumas’ Bar boasts a vibrant atmosphere and satisfying meals. With over 400 varieties of Scottish whisky, this bar has been named ‘Whisky Bar of the Year’ for four years in a row. Directions to the Sligachan Hotel on the Isle of Skye
Drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh head towards Fort William:
- Take the M8 from Glasgow or the M90 from Edinburgh.
- Continue on the A82 road through Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
- Continue on the A82 through Glencoe and past Fort William (about 3-4 hours drive depending on traffic).
From Fort William to the Isle of Skye:
- Stay on the A82 road north from Fort William.
- Once you reach Invergarry, take the A87 road towards Kyle of Lochalsh, the town where the Skye Bridge is located.
- Follow the signs for the Isle of Skye, crossing over the Skye Bridge onto the island.
On the Isle of Skye:
- Continue on the A87 road for about 30 minutes.
- After you pass through Broadford, you’ll reach a junction. Turn left onto the A863 road (signposted for Sligachan).
- Drive for about 10 minutes, and you will arrive at Sligachan Hotel, which will be on your left at the junction of the A87 and A863.
By Public Transport:
- Train to Kyle of Lochalsh (from Inverness or Glasgow)
- Bus to Portree (main town on Skye). From Portree, you can take a bus (Stagecoach buses operate on the island) or a taxi to Sligachan Hotel, about a 20-minute drive away.
