The finest customer service!

It was recently my wife’s (ahem) 30th birthday, along with our 4th wedding anniversary – yes four days apart! So we decided to take a last minute overnight break and enjoy a wee celebration with our son Harry. The destination – Ingliston Country Club Hotel, Bishopton – mainly due to the fact it is less than an hour’s drive from where we live and also, since we began working with the hotel, the excellent reviews and feedback we were getting from people who have booked through us!

The hotel is located on site with a well known horse riding stable and riding arena. Now, I will be honest, the thought of an overnight stay at an equestrian centre with a built on hotel was never really top of my wish list – however even if you are not a “horsey person” this place really is something else.

First of all the location is outstanding, perched on top of the hill overlooking the Firth of the Clyde. The weather was not great whilst we were there however I am sure the views on a nice day would be stunning. There are two main sections to the hotel. One contains the functions suite, restaurant and arena and the other is the hotel reception and rooms along with the breakfast room. All areas are new and well maintained.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite (perks of the job I suppose) which was huge and contained a living area, large bed and bathroom with shower and separate Jacuzzi bath with a TV!

They also provided us with a travel cot free of charge.

The room also faced on to the fields which home the onsite horses which are literally a few feet away. It seemed to entertain Harry for a while which was great!

We had booked dinner in Palomino’s Restaurant – which is the hotel’s main restaurant – and overlooks the main riding arena. The restaurant is quite large and has a great feel. Our table was located next to the windows overlooking the arena, which was something quite different to anything I have seen before – especially whilst having a meal.

The hotel is worthy of its four stars, with the general decor and the standards of the rooms and the restaurant, however what really makes the whole place stand out above the rest is the staff!

We have been fortunate enough to stay is some lovely five star hotels in the past and I would go as far to say that the personal service that we (and everyone else in the restaurant seemed to receive that night) was second to none. The restaurant was very busy – which I thought for a Thursday night was quite strange. I can only assume that this must be the place to go if you live locally. However this did not affect the service, there were plenty of staff on hand and we had a number of waiters/waitresses serve us over the course of the evening – each with an impeccable level of customer service and everyone seemed genuinely interested in Harry. To top it off the food was really good too. All Italian based dishes – which in our eyes is just perfect.

The service that night impressed us that much that after paying our bill I felt the need to let the restaurant manager know how great an experience we had. We left dinner feeling very satisfied. I also got talking to another gentleman later on that evening in the hotel who also commented on the service from the staff.

It really goes to show that the level of customer service you receive whilst at a hotel really can make your stay!

We had a comfortable night’s sleep – well until I found out how to turn off the towel heater in the bathroom, which had made the temperature of the room unbearable.

Breakfast the next day is located in the small restaurant within the hotel building and was everything you would expect from a buffet breakfast. I have to admit a hotel buffet breakfast is one of my favourite parts about going away!

Overall our stay was very enjoyable and made even more so by the staff at the hotel, not just in the restaurant but throughout the whole place. This is a testament to the management who I congratulate for this. I would highly recommend a stay here even just for an overnight, or longer if you are looking to explore the Glasgow area.

Why not experience all this for yourself? We have some great deals on at the moment from as little as £32.50 per person, come and take a look here.
