I was a bit disappointed with the room that was £50 more than I expected to be paying just for a view also the restaurant was nice but it was closed for the dinner on the first night so we had to eat in the conservatory and it was quite cold in there but uou couldn't fault the breakfast just nice to get away

On the whole we were quite happy with the hotel, having stayed there previously, although it seems a bit more dated post Covid. The first surprise was that there is a £5 per night parking charge which wasn’t there previously, but when we were paying our bill, the parking machine was broken and so the parking fee was waived! The reception staff were pleasant and professional. Our room was fine and fairly spacious. Our only quibble being that there were no glasses provided, only mugs for tea or coffee, and there was no toilet brush in the bathroom. The from the tap was very hot and getting the right temperature for a shower without a mixer tap took a bit of experimenting. The buffet breakfast was fine with a good choice and the hot food was replenished quickly. We had dinner included on the first night and an allowance of £25 per person. The cost of two courses was just under £25 and if you added a third course it cost more than the £25. In my opinion the food was overpriced. Our two courses were leek and potato soup, with bread and butter and smoked haddock fish cakes, served with some broccoli and that was it! The food was good, but as I said I feel it was vastly overpriced for what we got. On the second night the set menu choice wasn’t very appealing and we dined from the bar menu, which was more reasonable although I thought the Indian starter with one piece of pakora, one small samosa and one spring roll with chilli sauce and a salad garnish was overpriced at over £7. The food however was good. The bar prices were very reasonable and the bar and restaurant staff were helpful and polite. As I said at the start we were happy overall with our stay, apart from the minor issues in the rooms and the value for money of the food on the set dinner menu.

On our arrival and at all other times the Staff were friendly and helpful. We have stayed at the Derwentwater Hotel before but sadly the decor is is need of attention in the corridors. Our room was clean but little things needed attention, such as curtain hooks rehanging and some of the paintwork was tired.

We had a lovely two night stay at the Derwentwater Hotel. We had an evening meal the first night which was nice. We did have a long wait for dessert but the staff were very busy. Breakfast was good and the staff worked hard to keep everything topped up with fresh food they were also quick to get things people requested. Our room had a lovely view of the lake with a comfy clean bed and fresh towels. The bathroom was a bit dated but had everything we needed. The lady on reception was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a good location and a short walk from Keswick.

Hotel is in a lovely spot within walking distance of Keswick and a short stroll from the hotel to the waters edge for a picturesque view of the lake. There were tables and chairs in the garden. Our room looked onto an internal wall but was clean. Bathroom was basic with soap dispenser on wall for shower and sink. Noisy water pump when you turn on the tap or flush the toilet. Cleaners vacuumed the hallway at 8am on Saturday morning so no sleeping in. There were two menus to choose from for dinner but some of our meals were over cooked. Breakfast on first morning was good - cereal, plain yogurt, English breakfast items, toast, but 2nd morning there was clearly not enough staff, with things not being topped up or filled up and kitchen ran out of bread so no toast. Staff were approachable, helpful and pleasant.

Hotel was disappointing. It requires refurbishment as it is old and “tired” Meal on first night was fairly good, however the food on the second night (which was our 44th Anniversary) was extremely disappointing. The vegetables were totally overcooked and dry as was the loin of Cod fish, if this had been served to us on the 1st night we would never have booked dinner for the second night.

Fantastic location. Two nights B&B with dinner on the first night was a great deal. The twin room we got was one that needed upgrading, it was very tired but the beds were comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely location, just a short walk into Keswick. Lovely views from the rear grounds. Staff very friendly and helpful. The food was nice. The hotel is clean and comfortable but is about due for a bit of a spruce up. But that didn’t stop us having a great weekend and we would happily stay again.

Great location. Ten minute walk to Keswick, and right on the water. The grounds are nice, and we are in the restaurant and it was good. Lots of friendly staff on reception and also in the bar and restaurant we did enjoy our stay and would go back...it seems like the hotel are trying to get some of the issues sorted and the location is so nice that we overlooked some of the minor issues.

After reading some of the reviews about this hotel I was slightly worried for my stay however my mind was put at ease when me and my partner arrived on Monday evening (around 8pm due to a busy day mountain climbing). Walking through the door we were greeted at the front desk by a very friendly and helpful young lady who gave us all the information we needed about the hotel and headed up to our room - 119. Upon entering the room we could tell it was very clean and looked as though it had recently been decorated, fully equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a tv, freshly made double bed with clean towels folded presentably ontop, the room looked just like the ones on the pictures. Even better the bathroom consisted of both a bath and shower which was great as I needed a hot bath to soak my sore legs after a long day. We didn’t eat at the hotel as it was late and we were tired but the food looked good and even had a poster to advertise they had a 5* food hygiene rating which is always reassuring. Overall we throughly enjoyed our stay and was perfect for what we needed, great location just down the road from Keswick aswell. The hotel also has a conservatory with great views and a beautiful garden. So for anyone reading these reviews and being hesitant I recommend you make your own mind up and don’t let the views of other sway you. Great job to the derwentwater hotel would 100% stay here again.

We stayed at the Derwentwater Hotel 13-16 Aug 2021 . We had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed the aesthetics of the hotel and gardens. Hotel location - superb. Staff were polite, friendly and could not do enough to make our stay comfortable whilst being understaffed and so busy. A fantastic group of people lead by excellent management who weren’t afraid to lead by example and work with their team.Food was excellent and our rooms lovely with lake/garden views. Wish we were still there !

Lovely staff . Big room but the rooms and hotel in general is in desperate need of some TLC. Though this may be in their plan as the dining and bar area's are of a better standard.

We had a fantastic weekend, the weather was rubbish but the welcome we got at the hotel was excellent, it's not the most up to date hotel we've stayed in but it was homely and very friendly. We actually booked an extra night at the hotel. We ate at the hotel and the food was good. The views and the ground are amazing. The staff were very good and made our stay even better. I would stay there again and recommend.

Our stay was a little bit mixed comments wise. Found the hotel a bit in need of refurbishment. Hotel staff were great but didn't seem to understand the special offer we had booked under.(£25 pp towards evening meal) Evening meal was great, breakfast left a lot to be desired.

We loved it Our room was large, warm, tastefully decorated and clean The shower wasnt up to much so we used the bath instead The hotel provides toiletries, soap, shampoo, body wash and a hair dryer and theres tea and coffee making facilities Yes certain areas could do with a lick of paint but to be fair walls continually get scuffed by suitcases etc, they'd need someone on the job daily Its is a twenty minute walk in to lovely Keswick I'd advise to take a small torch with you if you go along the bria Way short cut at night The staff were truly wonderful, all polite and hard working right up until seeing us off not knowing what their positions would be Thanks again guys Good luck to you all and stay safe
