Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel, Exeter

An old Railway Hotel with impressive entrance and hall. Reception was helpful. Breakfast was self service and plentiful. We did not eat otherwise at the hotel. We asked for and got a twin room. Beds were comfortable and we could regulate the temperature by opening a window. The bathroom was clean and had a bath with both a fixed shower head and a hand held one. Couple of gripes - no loo brush with a WC pan that caught something every time we used it. The wash hand basin lacked a grating to stop things falling down the drain pipe.

Excellent service quality hotel and the staff was first class and polite and very helpful A++++ one night stay with two course meal and a bottle of wine and full breakfast in the morning or for £125 what an great deal if you want a relaxing evening with your partner or wife just to get away for that one night

Stayed during a late summer heatwave which was a mistake. The only small opening windows in the room had very short tethers on them, so it was only possible to get the windows open about 1.5 inches. While these ridiculously short window tethers are in all Mercure Hotels, due to the way these ones were fitted the windows opened even less than usual. As such, the room was extremely hot and stuffy making it unpleasant and difficult to sleep in. Personally I would now only stay in Mercure Hotels in the depth of winter where there is a chance that I won't want to open the window.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location. Exceptionally pleasant and helpful staff. Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and would definitely book this hotel again for any future visits.

we had an amazing time staff so helpful especially in the restaurant really clean but the downside was the carpets very stained plus they seem to be long overdue for an upgrade this totally lets the rest of the hotel down

Pre check in was a good idea and efficient. Staff friendly throughout the stay. No-one explained no room servicing so had to find out about Tea/Coffee/milk top ups the hard way. Lack of toiletries in reception when needed.

The reception staff were brilliant and very accomodating for myself and my disabled wife. One of the reception staff went out of her way to assist with room bookings and parking arrangements. Would definately recommend Exeter Rougemount.

Great location, lovely historic features and paintings giving the inside of the building a lovely warm feel. Very friendly and efficiency staff and good range of food options if you wish to dine in. Bed was very comfortable.

Very impressed on arrival how well, due to Covid , things were being run. We felt safe throughout our stay with other guests wearing masks, plus all of the staff. Our room was lovely ( we had been upgraded) plenty of space and storage, all very clean.
