Had a nice 2 day break away hotel was clean breakfast was very nice lots to choose from. Nothing was a bother to any of the staff. Will be back again.

Very enjoyable two night stay. Staff were all very helpful and polite. The complimentary breakfast was great apart from the toaster which needed 2 goes to toast your bread! Housekeeping was excellent and the toiletries in room were lovely. Easy to reach from train station and only a 5 minute walk into central York. Would recommend this hotel.

We stayed in room 012, a lovely room and having stayed in the hotel before, we were looking forward to a relaxing stay and having a change of scenery. Although this was not the case. Firstly, we received a phone call from what we presumed was reception, just after midnight, a lady asking if she had just spoken to me about a problem with my bed. When i said No, she then apologised that she had woken us, leaving us wide awake and confused but clearly just thought they had got the wrong room. I Really don't understand why anyone though would be ringing rooms, at that time of night, without knowing it was the right room that they were contacting. It then took me over an hour to get back to sleep, to which we were then woken at approx 02.15 am with the clanging of bottles being cleared and noises to which we believed were someone accessing the bin hold outside our room. It didn't stop there, the noises continued early morning at 05.00 /6.00am, people going down the corridor talking loud and then just before 07.00am what sounded like barrels being moved and banged about either below us or nearby. All morning from 07.00am we had constantly listened to tables and chairs being dragged about and I'm not kidding, We have had the worst nights sleep ever and definitely didnt feel refreshed and rested, after what we thought would be a lovely night away. Despite having stayed here before and had no problems, we definitely felt that had there been a train available overnight, we would have left to go home. I like the hotel and its location, but we will definitely reconsider where we stay on our next visit to York. I didn't feel it was appropriate to get dressed early hours to complain overnight as we were very tired and left it till we got dressed for breakfast the next morning, but it was really busy in and at reception. So I took the time to email the hotel directly. The first reply basically said I'm sorry your stay wasn't to your expectations and tgat if there had been a problem we shoukd have let them know overnight. Not that I think it would have solved anything as it was ongoing issues. It was definitely a standard, non empathetic reply to my issues raised. The second email was apologetic but it felt like they spent the whole email denying the issues raised and that there was no female member of staff on duty late evening/ early hours. I'm glad I didn't waste my time getting dressed and going to complain each time overnight, as the emails in response to my complaint said it all really. I would definitely not recommend staying on the lower floor below the bar, restaurant, and reception and request a higher floor, if you require a better night's sleep. I'd say nothing more than I expected really as the hotel is in the vack street in a quiet area of York and the whole reason we booked it. Breakfast was good although chaotic Rooms were clean and well equipped

The hotel was clean and bright. The room was a great size with a king sized bed and with a lovely bathroom. Excellent breakfast with a great selection of cooked hot food, make your own waffles, breads, fruit, cereals and much more! The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent location, just a five minute walk into the centre. We would definitely go back!
