Perfect location on the lake. The room was nice and big with a stunning view of the lake and boats. The staff were friendly and welcoming My only criticism is the evening meals are nothing to write home about and the price of a bottle of wine at £27 for the cheapest bottle. is too expensive a bottle around £11/£12 would have been more acceptable. Although we were booked on the breakfast and evening meal basis we decided to eat elsewhere.for the rest of our stay. The breakfasts were perfect couldn’t fault them

Although I felt the hotel was Covid secure and members of staff wore masks at all times some of the guests didn’t wear them as requested in public areas. Despite this we had an enjoyable stay

This is a beautiful hotel we had a fantastic view and the room was lovely and really clean. Breakfast was amazing. we would return in a heart beat !!! no complaints. We did not use the Spa but would do next time as it looked beautiful.

well sized rooms with nice lake view- great to wake up to it. restaurant closes at 9 pm without warning you that you will starve after that, as everything in the town closes then- that is really bad. only sandwiches from Tesco available after that. Very nice night manager- really a great gentleman old fashion hotel- needs to be modernized interesting Spa- with some basic facil- the pool is full of kids at the bar area at night they should not allow kids, as it is noisy and this is the time of the day when you want to relax without noise, as that is the purpose of the trip, so i suggest they do a kids area and that shouldn't be the hotel bar... the concierge isn't aware of the directions in that little town, he should go discover more.

I only had 2 nights at Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa at Bowness on Windermere, but I wish I could have stayed longer. Everything about the hotel was exceptionally good -in fact superb! - and the staff could not have been more helpful. The room, the staff, the service and the food were all superb, and with its ideal location, I cannot think of a better place to stay in that area. I would be happy to stay there again at any time.
