Nice place and location but needs a lot of TLC including hoovering and dusting. Food only adequate but very expensive. Drinks were particularly expensive £25 for tails

It was a very pleasant stay, the staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean, cosy and quiet. The breakfast was very nice and not greasy.

Liked the castle .did not like the prices. I mean £4 for a bottle of tap water .our monk fish was raw and cold in the middle .The toilet seat in our room had a brown stain round the top.a stain on the carpet .oh I forgot the food was so salty I could not eat it I like to season it myself. I asked for porridge was not cooked properly it was like eating oats should have been creamy.my rhubarb panne cotta just tasted Like blancmange. The tails were. £25. Each

Dreadful room in courtyard, shabby , boiling hot, overpriced food & drinks only positive thing is that breakfast is good. Will not return.

Lovely hotel in beautiful, well maintained grounds. The room was clean and comfortable with parking outside the door. Lovely courtyard garden to enjoy a drink or bar snack in the sun, again very well maintained. Nice bar with great selection of drinks and tails. Onsite restaurant with excellent food. All the staff were amazing, they were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Wow, what a Beautiful place. It was All dressed for Christmas too which added to its charm. We stopped in a castle room, the bed was on the small size but for 1 night I wasn’t complaining, spending the night in such beautiful surroundings . Drinks are average priced. Food was delicious in the knight dining room. We Will definitely be going back to stay. Would highly recomend. 5 stars

Fantastic building with so much character! and you definitely know you are in a Castle with all its quirkiness! The Restaurant staff were lovely and the meals were exceptional! Would definitely return.

On arrival we were allocated a room at the top of 2 flights of a stone spl staircase. Totally unsuitable for my wife and myself as we are both pensioners. Went to reception to complain and were told that the only room they could give us was an extra £20 per night. As we had originally booked a castle classic room I wasn’t happy with this extra charge. This put a real dampener on our break. My wife has already emailed you with a video of the spl stairs.

What a lovely hotel to stay at, however the length of time we waited on our cooked breakfast both mornings was not acceptable ( 45 mins ) the staff were very apologetic for this delay.

Attentive staff, good menu and lovely bar area. Only downside was it was very cold in the castle even though it was summer. Take a cardigan!

Our visit to Lumley Castle was amazing. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to ensure you feel at home. My fiancée received a birthday card under the door from the staff. The chef prepared a happy birthday message on a plate. The room was outstanding. We were also encouraged to explore the castle unaccompanied which was a unique experience. Thank you to all of the staff for making it a wonderful memory. We will be back!

Fantastic stay everything we thought it would be plus more would recommend. I would just say the bottles of wine are far too expensive

The castle and grounds are very impressive. We booked a castle state room which did not disappoint. Very spacious. Four poster bed. Wonderful. The food was good however as the hotel restaurant was busy (partly due to Eat our to Help out) we couldn’t get a table in the restaurant and had to eat in the bar. This spoiled the stay somewhat. The staff were very friendly and did all they could in the situation. However they were also extremely busy with the extra dinners. Worth a visit though.

The room was fine, beds soft, comfortable, everything clean but the stand out for the Lumley was the staff. Denise and the morning wait staff ere exceptional. They couldn’t do enough to make your stay the best it could be! Thank you ladies and gentlemen .....you certainly did that!

Lovely stay at a wonderful castle. Enjoyed the Grand Afternoon Tea in the Black Knight Restaurant. Had a room in the mews. A very quiet and tranquil area. Rooms not huge but you have everything you need and a good en-suite. Bedding and towels etc very luxurious. Only thing that was a nuisance is adjusting the shower. Really difficult to adjust the temperature and I wasted lots of water until I could actually get under the water. Fabulous breakfast in the morning. Plenty of parking.

I brought my partner up as a birthday surprise to stay in what I can call an amazing castle, and we wasn't disappointed at all the look on the missus face made it all worth the while. I made comments to people and they decided to go up on Valentine's Day.
