Hotel arrival - - hotel looks good, reception staff very friendly and helpful. Room - - room looks ok, very spacious and inviting but could say that the rooms could do with a re-curb update. Leisure facilities - - can’t fault, clean, tidy and well looked after. Dinner in restaurant - - staff were average and chaotic -staff taking drinks order and forgetting to bring to table. One table had to ask where there drinks where agmfter eating there started and half way thru main meal. - menu seems nice, but food luke warm, ratio of meat to say potato/ veg ratio poor. Trying to be too fancy. Bar staff - -overall pretty pathetic -More interested in chatting, wanting to go out side to smoke while customers waiting to be served etc. Breakfast- - menu good choice, not everything on the menu was there. - again, staff seemed chaotic, not used to doing jobs, unprofessional All in all I’d say 5/10 for overall hotel

Stayed overnight, dinner, bed & breakfast over the bank holiday weekend. It was very busy, but the staff remained really helpful and friendly despite being under pressure. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The only let down was the evening meal. The staff and service were great, but the food itself wasn't great. I had the roast beef, which was difficult to cut, even after asking for a steak knife. The roast potatoes didn't seem home cooked and the Yorkshire Pudding was burnt to a crisp. However, the rest of the stay was faultless, so I'd still recommend a Craxton Wood.

Went to this hotel on 1 night B+B plus dinner and thermal suite access for £160. We arrived to lovely grounds - really impressed with the gardens and the entrance - looked great. Check-in was swift and efficient. We went to our room on the ground floor which was spacious, clean and well-presented. There was a table and chairs in the room which was nice - the only things I could be critical for about the room was that the speakers in the bathroom did not work (from the TV/music device) and there were some strange spaces in the room as though furniture had been removed but this caused us no issue. We went over to the spa which was a short walk around the grounds of the hotel. The gym had some good equipment in it and was absolutely fine - quite liked it and then I was rushed through as my better half wanted to get into the thermal suite. The thermal suite had three rooms in it - steam room, herbal sauna and sauna. If we had specifically paid to use this suite I think I would have been disappointed to be honest the steam room wasn't very steamy and the herbal sauna wasn't very hot or herbal. The sauna was hot and made us feel great though. There was a fourth room which (if the hotel read this will probably tell us off for) we used - we went in and had to press these buttons on the wall as they were there and nothing happened to we left. Apparently, we shouldn't have done that as this was the mud room and by pressing the buttons started a 30 minute cycle meaning someone who booked in was late starting! Sorry!!! We had some champagne in the spa which doesn't take card payment unfortunately which was lovely and went back to our room to get ready for dinner. We were seated in the restaurant and had a lovely 3 course set menu. Service was efficient, food was good. Then went through to the bar. The bar lacked a bit of atmosphere and most other tables quickly retreated to their rooms. Not being able to prise ourselves away, we pvered at the bar and went through the tail menu - literally. We got talking to the barman and were joined by another couple. It was soon 2am and we had a great time. The barman who does deserve a special mention - Tristan - was particularly skilful at making delicious drinks but more importantly showed a genuine interest, was a pleasure to speak with and attention. Special thank you to him for being brilliant. We slept well and checked out quickly the following day. Breakfast was nice and what you would expect.
