Lovely hotel on the banks of Lake Windermere, with some nice walks to go on. There is a good bus service within a couple of minutes walk to take you to the surrounding villages if you don't want to drive and the hotel make some recommendations for walks which range from easy/moderate to hard.

Wouldn’t stay again , lovely setting , lovely staff , but they operate a no housekeeping service, a big no no for us , dogs in dining room at breakfast, supposedly in a dog area which is where the uncovered fresh fruit juices cereal etc is .Nice enough room with an almost unusable bathroom , so very small , big disappointment.

We stayed for 1 night at the Cragwood Country House and had the most enjoyable stay. It is in a perfect setting and the house itself is quirky (in a good way). The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good. We hope to go again.

Lovely overnight stay with nice cream tea included on arrival. Room was lovely and bed really comfy. Had an amazing 5 course dinner and staff were so lovely great service. Only thing we had a power cut after 11.00 at night and was woke up by alarms ringing but apart from that a lovely stay would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was wonderful. Staff were friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble, extremely chatty. The setting and buildings were beautiful. The food was delicious and good value for money. Plenty of lounging rooms were lovely for a cuppa or afternoon teas. The beds were very comfy, rooms old fashioned but not shabby, sparkling clean and little touches like sweets and proper coffee machine. Simply the best long weekend I've ever had. Only small downside was the breakfast, baked beans were bland! Literally all the other food was great so could have been me.

Just spent a couple of night's in this beautiful hotel on bed and breakfast deal with cream tea on arrival. The hotel is 1st class. We ate in the hotel both nights and food was exceptional. We had the fine dining menu on one evening and the food was delicious and service fantastic. The staff were all amazing and friendly and rooms were large with a big comfy bed. We had a room on the ground level as we had out dog with us who was made very welcome and the room had patio doors opening on to the gardens. The gardens and views from hotel over Loch Windermere were superb. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel again.

Hotel was amazing from start to finish. One thing I may add is the bed was not very comfy but the cream tea certainly made up for that haha. All the staff wonderful and the cruise around lake was just fab! Already looking for come back!

We had a couple of nights in the hotel which is divided into 2 parts, the old section and the new. A short walk leads down to the banks of lake Windermere and the views from the bar and veranda are superb. The lounge area is like travelling back in time with wood panneld walls and leather sofas and armchairs making it a great place to enjoy a drink. The food was very good quality and the set menus good value. Car park gets a bit full so finding a space can be a problem if arriving late. Overall a good place to stay.

If we'd have known how delightful this hotel was we'd have stayed more than one night. Charming and attentive staff, friendly with out being over familiar. Very nice room, everything you could want. Vegetarian breakfast available and they found me a vegetarian sausage on request- that matters if you're a veggie! Well situated for exploring the area.

From the moment we arrived everything was spot on. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room. The location was excellent, we were able to walk to the lakeside of Windermere. If you're a Gin lover, they have over 60 to choose from! Fine breakfast with proper vegetarian choice. If we are in the area again, we'd definitely stay here again.

Cragwood Country House Hotel is in the most beautiful location of any hotel I have visited. Even in autumn the rainy Lake District is stunning and Cragwood offers views of the most incredible sunsets over lake Windermere. The staff are all genuinely lovely people, nothing is too much trouble. The food was great at every meal, especially evening dinners, which mixed local produce with modern techniques. Perfect.
