Check in was fine but there was a wedding going on so found it hard to hear what the girl was saying. Asked one receptionist where the pool was and she told us away down a corridor, totally wrong direction. Room was nice but way too hot, shower was OK but not very powerful and a strong smell coming from the drains. Breakfast in the morning was an absolute shambles, we asked to have our breakfast at 9am, went down and no tables free, the 3 girls working didn't seem to have a clue what was going on, even seen them putting out what looked like decorating tables for folk to sit at. Once we finally got seated there was no juice, waited ages for it to be replaced, no coffee or tea again a long wait, there were tables that were just covered in leftover plates and cutlery not being cleared away. Wouldn't recommend this hotel as service was shocking, rooms need updating and food wasn't much to write home about. Poor stay.

Quirky place. Lovely midweek stay. Room and bathroom clean and spacious. Although natural light is scarce due to the lovely tree outlook. Staff excellent and food was faultless -breakfast and dinner. Good restaurant quality. Does need a little spruce up on the dining room carpet and chair covers. A little more outside tables in the garden area or an additional garden area would be nice.

Rooms are a little dated and portion size of restaurant meals was disappointing..

The hotel is very convenient for Marwell zoo .The hotel room itself was very nice.We arrived in our room to find a kettle but no tea/coffee etc ,and no info given at desk on arrival. On enquiring at reception we were told everything had been removed as a covid safety measure, they then gave us a paper bag containing paper cups and tea, coffee etc. This would have been better done o arrival to save frustration/confusion. I still don't understand why they didn't provide proper cups and glasses in the room? They would have been washed and replaced between guest bookings surely?. The complimentary toiletries were still in the bathroom so i fail to see the difference. We ate in the restaurant in the evening as part of the offer. Limited menu ,trying to be fine dining but not quite. All cutlery, glasses, condiments were brought to us after seating ( covid safety) but this made everything very slow and the staff handled everything anyway some with gloves on( hate them, they don't work) ,some with masks on, half on, off ,adjusting on their face etc. Very difficult i know but better with no gloves, masks and just good hand washing. I had rung ahead and asked to be catered for gluten free, this message had not got to the kitchen, frustrating. Staff were nice in difficult times trying to follow guidelines. Breakfast was poor quality and no Gf bread at all .We had an issue with a contaminated bottle of wine and are awaiting the outcome of an enquiry into the source of it. If you want to use the pool remember to book ahead,we didn't know so we couldn't get in.This hotel would suit families best but the drinks are expensive and menu limited.

Friendly efficient staff lovely pool, good breakfast and evening meal, corridors can get a bit chilly in the winter (Marwell zoo is next door and also well worth a visit)

Staff friendly. food good and a very quiet night due to the excellent location of the hotel in the countryside surrounded by woodland. Rates are competitive and rooms are quite spacious.

Chose this hotel because of its closeness to the Zoo & also not too far to travel to visit relatives. Very quiet & relaxing.

Last minute stay at the hotel after a zoo visit and it comes thoroughly recommended. Nice if basic swimming pool/spa, friendly, helpful staff, lovely outside spaces in the sun and the whole hotel is nestled amongst the trees so feels like a big tree house as you walk through the glass corridors. Unexpectedly beautiful food at the restaurant as well!

Stayed for one night the room itself was pretty good but rather warm. Made use of the pool/spa and bar - both looking tired and need refurbishment. In general hotel needs upgrading. Had the taster menu - food excellent and service v good. In general staff helpful and attentive.

Hotel in the jungle. The layout is interesting. The old style hotel was recently refurbished. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was super. Staff helpful. Swimming pool is a bonus. I recommend this hotel to all visit.
