We stayed here for a wee relaxing treat for my husband's 50th birthday. It was the first time we have stayed at the house and we really enjoyed our stay. The house and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed a walk by the riverside in the early spring evening. There are three buildings - the main house, the riverside building and the sportsman building. What was good: The staff, all very welcoming and friendly, and couldn't do enough for you. They are an absolute credit to the hotel. We had a cream tea as part of our booking, but we sent an email to the hotel and we were able to upgrade this to an afternoon tea for an extra charge. The afternoon tea was delightful. It consisted of a savoury course, followed by a sweet course. We weren't rushed and was able to sit back in comfortable chairs in the drawing room, in front of a bay wibow watching the beautiful River Tay. The buffet breakfast the next morning was served in the main hall. It had a small selection of continental, porridge, and full cooked items. The sausages were really tasty, I thoroughly recommend them. We were booked into a classic room in the main house. The room was clean and decorated in classic style. It had plenty of wardrobe space, and the bed was comfortable. It was also very quiet. We had a wonderful view of the River Tay and grounds. What was not so good: The room we had was very small. The chairs in the room were bulky and can do with being replaced with chairs more in keeping with the room size. I almost tripped on one coming out of the bathroom in the middle of the night! I also found bathroom basic for this level of hotel (although it was clean). The tea and coffee facilities in the room weren't to the standard we expected for this level of hotel. Full UHT milk cartons, Tetley tea and Nescafe. Although, the Walkers shortbread was a nice touch. The price of drinks! £10.80 for a glass of Rioja made my eyes water! I don't mind paying for a nice glass of wine, but the wine list selection of 4 reds didn't tell us anything about the wine. Despite these small things, we would definitely return.

2nd stay at Ballathie and again it didn’t disappoint. Lovely dog friendly hotel, surrounded by acres of woodland adjacent to the Tay. Room clean, spacious and bed comfortable. Staff and service first class, professional but friendly with it. Food excellent! So tasty and beautifully presented. Highly recommend.

The hotel was set in a stunning location. Beautiful buildong with lovely grounds and plenty walks. The food in the restaurant is excellent - breakfasts were hale and hearty and set you up for the day and the evening meals were delicious. The staff were friendly and very accommodating - especially with our small dog and newborn daughter. Would love to come back again.

We had a lovely time at this hotel and stayed in the Annexe which was very large and cosy.Didn’t eat dinner there as it was expensive and not much choice on bar menu. But in Stanley there is a lovely place called The Tayside Inn where we ate both nights.Staff in hotel were very nice and helpful.Good choice for breakfast. Will definitely return.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Ballathie House. We stayed in the sportsmen's anex rooms which were very clean, spacious and great value. Breakfast was in the main house and exactly the same as everyone else.
