The Windermere Park Bed & Breakfast in Windermere is centrally located in the town of Windermere where you will find a variety of shops, a wide choice of quality restaurants or bars and excellent bus or rail links to other parts of the Lake District. You can take a 15 to 20-minute stroll to Lake Windermere and Bowness where Windermere Lake Cruises can transport you north to Ambleside, or south to Newby Bridge where you will find some superb attractions including the Lakeland Motor Museum, Lakes Aquarium and Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.

The Windermere Park offers 17 en suite bedrooms with a choice of Double, Twin and King sized bedrooms as well as a family room with bunk beds with comfortable 100% Egyptian cotton linen. Each room is well equipped with either a shower or bath, television, free wifi, and complimentary tea and coffee-making facilities.

Location & Directions

Directions to the Windermere Park

From the North:
Exit Junction 40 of the M6 Motorway. Take the A66 towards Keswick. Just before Keswick take the A591 signposted for Windermere. Once you reach Windermere Train Station/Tourist Information Centre turn left into Windermere Village and follow the one-way system. After 0.4 miles you will see Windermere Park on the left-hand side of the road. There is a large private car park immediately after the building.

From the South:
Exit Junction 36 of the M6 motorway. Take the A591 towards Windermere. Once you reach Windermere Train Station/Tourist Information Centre turn right into Windermere Village and follow the one-way system. After 0.4 miles you will see Windermere Park on the left-hand side of the road. There is a large private car park immediately after the building.

By Rail
The nearest local train station is Windermere, 0.5 miles from Windermere Park.

The main West Coast Line Station is Oxenholme, which is approximately 12 miles away.

By Bus
The 599 bus operates approximately every 20mins throughout the day and departs directly outside Windermere Railway Station to Bowness Promenade.

Stagecoach operates the X6 Service that links Barrow, Ulverston, Grange and Kendal. Whilst their 599 service links Grasmere, Rydal and Ambleside.

Things to see and do when staying at Windermere Park. 

Lake Cruises
Take a cruise on Lake Windermere. Board at Bowness-on-Windermere and either travel north to Ambleside or South to Lakeside at Newby Bridge where you will find the Aquarium of the Lake, Lakeland Motor Museum & Lakeside & Heverthwaite Railway.

Walking
Windermere makes an ideal base when it comes to walking in the Lake District. The stunning viewpoint across Lake Windermere at Orrest Head can be reached from the door. Slightly further afield you can walk Loughrigg Fell, Tarn Hows, The Langdale Pikes, Fairfield Horseshoe, Kentmere, Coniston Old Man and Helvellyn just to name a few.

Cycling
Grizedale Forest is 12 miles away or less via ferry and offers a choice of cross-country and downhill mountain biking. Road bikers can enjoy quiet country lanes or challenging mountain passes such as Kirkstone Pass, Wrynose Pass, Blea Tarn or Hardknott Pass, which is the steepest road in England.

Located in Bowness-on-Windermere, The World of Beatrix Potter is a vibrant family attraction bringing to life Beatrix Potter's stories in a magical recreation of the Lake District countryside featuring Peter Rabbit.

Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway
