Take your pick from the 24 comfortable, stylish and well-equipped rooms offered at the Dunmuir Hotel. There are several room types to choose from, ranging from the Cosy wee double rooms, standard doubles and twins, standard king rooms, superior king rooms and the deluxe king room, each with all of the standard amenities and an en-suite bathroom. 

Accessible rooms: All the Deluxe, Superior, Standard, Wee Double rooms are reached via stairs.
The Standard Rooms are on the lower ground floor and are reached via stairs.
There is no lift at the hotel. If you need a ground floor room then the Classic or Accessible Superior room are perfect for you.

Small Double room 

The small double room is ideal for one person. It is situated on the lower ground floor overlooking the courtyard and is reached via the lobby stairs. The room features the below amenities:

Standard Double Room 

The Standard Double Room is perfect for two people sharing. Complete with an en-suite bathroom, a flat-screen TV and all of the usual amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, including:

Standard King Room 

The Standard King Room is located on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard. This room can be accessed via the lobby stairs and features an en-suite bathroom, a flat-screen TV and the usual standard amenities.

Classic Rooms (5 available – 1 Fully Accessible, 1 Double, 3 King/Twins)

These modern compact rooms have lots of daylight. They are on the ground floor and have a walk-in power shower. The rooms have 2 chairs.

Superior King / Twin Room 

This boutique spacious room is reached by the main house staircase and has many of the old house period features. This room can be either a King size or a Twin and features an ensuite bathroom, a flat-screen TV.

This room can be a Twin (2 Single Beds) or Super King Size Please let us know your preference when booking.

Superior King / Twin Accessible Room (there is only 1 available of this room type) 

This boutique spacious room is situated on the ground floor in the main house. It can be either a Twin or Double Room. The room features a large en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower (The shower has a small lip), a flat screen TV.

The room may not be large enough to accommodate a electric scooter - please call to check if we can help.

This room can be a Twin (2 Single Beds) or a Super King please let us know your preference when booking.

We have an accessible parking space opposite the entrance to the hotel and a ramp into the hotel (Car-park is gravel chips)


Deluxe King Room 

The Deluxe King Rooms are spacious with lots of daylight and the original period features for some added character. These rooms can be reached via the main house staircase and feature an en-suite bathroom with both a shower and a bath. These rooms also have a small sitting area with two chairs and a table, as well as all of the usual amenities.

The 1902 Bar
Our warm cosy wee bar offers a great choice of local craft beers, the famous Belhaven best Bitter and Winton Brewery's draft, coupled with two great lagers and one cider on tap. With a great selection of bottle beers, Wines, Whisky and Malts and our of course our eclectic range of Gins. We are proud to have won a "Best Bar None" Gold award for the last 6 years.

Relax and watch the big screen or just chill out with friends. This is a great place to sit and unwind. Dogs are very welcome in the Bar with their owners. And we have treats and water bowls available as well.

The hotel is open all year up to until Boxing day when we close until early January.

Getting to the Dunmuir Hotel in Dunbar: 

The town of Dunbar is located on the North Sea coast of East Lothian, about 30 miles east of Edinburgh and 28.4 miles from Berwick-upon-tweed. North Berwick is also 12.9 miles away and Gullane is 19.2 miles away. 

Car Parking
There are around 20 car parking spaces, but there is also parking on the street as the hotel is in a Residential Area. Please note that there is 1 accessible space and the car park is gravel chips.

Dinner Bookings
The hotel's restaurant can be very busy therefore is it essential that guests pre book a dinner time prior to arrival. This can be made by contacting the hotel direct. Failure to do so may result in a dinner time not being available on the day. 

Car Parking

Things to See and Do

There are lots of things to see and do in Dunbar and the surrounding areas whilst staying at Dunmuir Hotel. Don’t be fooled by its “sleepy little hamlet” appearance. Dunbar and the Dunmuir Hotel can certainly deliver a quiet, relaxing holiday if that’s what you want. But for the more inquiring and energetic, there’s no shortage of interesting things to see and do.

Dunbar High Street (0.4 miles): Made up of historic buildings from several eras, some even medieval, a stroll around Dunbar Highstreet will take you back in time. Here you will also find independent trades, shops and cafes as well as pubs and restaurants.  

East Beach (0.4 miles): A popular beach just a short walk from the hotel, popular with kayakers and surfers. The golf course also lies adjacent to the southern end of the beach. 

Dunbar Castle (0.7 miles): Situated in a prominent position overlooking the harbour of the town of Dunbar are the Dunbar Castle ruins, destroyed in the 19th century, but still remain a picturesque spot to visit.  

Belhaven Brewery (1.4 miles): Do a tour of the Belhaven Brewery, nestled among the rolling barley fields of the beautiful coast, the brewery has been producing local ale since 1719. 

John Muir Country Park (3.8 miles): The John Muir Country Park is a protected coastal area of salt marsh and grassland with a diverse range of bird species. 

East Links Family Park (3.9 miles): The East Links Family Park is perfect for a family day out, with an animal barn, train safari, go-karts, trampolines and soft play.
