The Ranald Hotel, Oban

The Ranald did not disappoint. Location was superb and a short walk from the pier and town centre. We were welcomed by Leah on reception. This girl is a wee ray of sunshine always a smile and attentive not only behind the bar but also at breakfast. Rooms are as described….compact…..BUT have all you need with tea coffee facilities, toiletries, hair dryer, safe and high quality bed linen and towels. The place is spotlessly clean which gets a huge thumbs up for us. Breakfast was very good. Cereal, toast, pastries and a selection of hot food. Our pancakes, bacon and maple syrup were very good. All in all a lovely night away with my elderly mum who was accommodated on the ground floor. Thanks for your hospitality, we will be back. Top tip folks, book a meal in the neighbouring Lorna Bar. Great food and ambience.

Lovely hotel friendly staff loved our double room. No lifts here so was glad when we got moved to 1st floor from 3rd floor. Small area for breakfast continental but they had a menu for something hot. We spent 2 days here and was happy with the small hotel good location to front of Oban and shops

My wife and I had a most enjoyable weekend break staying in The Ranald. The hotel itself is small and compact which suited our needs. We found it to be extremely clean and well maintained. Breakfast itself was most enjoyable, a good selection of the usual breakfast items plus freshly made items from the menu set us up for the day ahead. I can guarantee if or when we do return to Oban, this hotel will be our first choice. Everyone of the staff we encountered could not have been more friendly or helpful, a huge thanks to them. There is nothing fancy about the Ranald hotel but oh my goodness the staff make up for that. The hospitality is just lovely. They had such respect for us older ladies. It was no problem for our cases to be taken to our rooms as there isn’t a lift. The rooms were large and clean. Comfy beds and a great shower. We were B & Continental B. Had a pleasant surprise at breakfast when we were handed a menu with choice's …. Pancakes, waffles, egg, avocado , bacon etc.. We were absolutely delighted.. We would recommend it , one of our friends is going back with her daughter. Thank you.

The reception staff were very welcoming and hard working the room was very nice and spotless our break included 2 course dinner at the Lorne bar which was very nice and the breakfast was lovely and made to order would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and family

Really nice hotel, well presented in a great position, close to all amenities. Rooms were really clean, beds were super comfy and really quiet for being in town centre. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was a continental style but plenty of choice available. Only negative is there is no lift and its on street parking which can be a bit hard to find but would not put me off staying again

Lovely wee hotel. Room was spotless and had everything we needed. Great location and so handy for pubs and restaurants. It was a nice touch having a bottle of wine in the room as part of the deal. Unfortunately was so relaxed we missed breakfast. Loved this trip.

After a poor start as we were given key to room to only go upstairs and find it had not been cleaned. Then given a tiny room not what we had booked we were then given an apartment along the road from the main hotel. The apartment was much better and we had a quiet night and good sleep. Breakfast in the hotel was satisfactory.

Cosy hotel in the center of Oban. The room was clean and well heated, which was well appreciated in winter. Breakfast was tasty with a few choices of pastries and cooked food.

Lovely open-plan apartment, so spacious, The reception staff was very friendly and helpful, will revisit, right in the centre of town, but the apartments were very quiet. clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.

This is the best hotel I have stayed in, in Oban. It was modern, clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful. I liked the breakfast very much - french toast with maple syrup. The location was ideal for me - about five minutes walk from the railway station (and ferry terminal), and also five minutes from the Tesco supermarket, and near the main street of the town.
