The Queen at Chester Hotel, Chester

Hotel reception/bar area os lovely. When we checked into our room it smelt musty & the carpet was damp. We were moved straight away to another room & given a complimentary bar drink as an apology. We were told when we checked in the 'dinner allowance' had changed (something that I feeel needs changing when you initially book) and was an all inclusive buffet. We also booked our inclusive afternoon tea for 1.30pm the day after. Room was a decent size but towel rail in bathroom wasn't working so bathroom was cold. Also paint was peeling from ceiling above bath. All inclusive buffet wasn't as expected. Nice glass of prosecco in arrival but food was just warm & the only vegetables were small roast potatoes & green beans. Beef stew wasn't the best. Breakfast was really good, plenty of everything & piping hot really lovely & even though busy there were no big queues and no waiting for food to be replenished it was done straight away. We arrived for our afternoon tea at 1.30pm and it wasn't served until 2.30pm. There was 1 member of staff who was trying his best to do absolutely everything. He eventually got help but we did have to wait an hour! The food however was absolutely delicious. We were told it was due to 'preparing for Christmas parties' but to have to wait an hour and not being told was pretty poor. A few things that really need sorting but we still enjoyed it. The bar area is really big & very relaxing we had a lovely evening in there.

Great hotel loved it all, lovely spacious room, great location, fab decor. My only slight gripe was that we had a meal included on the night of arrival and I had rang up earlier in the week to enquire and wasn’t advised that we had to book in advance so we didn’t eat until 9.30. Would definitely stay again and recommend

Wonderful!! Very chic update has modernized the hotel in a stylish and elegant way. Décor is stunning. Rooms are very adequate and immaculately clean. Staff are lovely- friendly, helpful and efficient. Definitely one to recommend.

The stay at the Queens Hotel was very good. I was extremely disappointed, having spoken to the duty manager about lights being on all day and night in the two function rooms which were not in use, on the way to our room! Whilst he acknowledged that this, he did nothing about it! I think we all need to be more ‘green’ today and maybe this should be passed onto the Hotel.

Lovely hotel, really friendly staff. Pity chef didn't know how to cook a steak properly, only asked for medium, came back burnt twice. Had to leave the whole meal. Also lifts broken in Kings Hotel. If you stay on the King's side of hotel it's a bit of a walk to & from your room too reception, restaurant, bars.

Room not made up when given the keys and given superior that didn’t look much different from the standard room. TV didn’t work and despite asking for it to be looked at. It still work. Stayed here last year but feel hotel not so good this time around.

The hotel and room were adequate for the amount we paid, unfortunately there were a couple of issues that let the hotel down. Firstly, the meals on the first night had to be sent back as they were cold and had not been cooked properly. Secondly, on both nights there were wedding parties taking place which spilled over into the reception area and were making a lot of noise which kept us awake until the early hours of the morning. When we mentioned this there was an apology and were told that the party guests should not have been in the reception area, maybe somebody should have told the reception staff. We did have a pleasant stay, but very little sleep, and have come away more tired than when we went, the opposite of why we went away for the weekend.

Great hotel just 10 minutes walk from City centre. Fascinating history in every room of the hotel with period furnishings. Lovely gardens. We were in the new building where all the floors and rooms are named after Kings of various Countries. Room was on the small side but spotlessly clean and modern. Food is great, particularly breakfast. Very efficient staff in the restaurant and food is lovely and fresh. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Booked for a girly Christmas weekend away, staff really lovely, we got a deal with breakfast both mornings £25 towards evening meal and an afternoon tea. Dinner and cream tea were ok, breakfast was really good, very well run and lots of option’s including good veggie breakfast. Rooms very comfy, parking close to the hotel £24 for the weekend. 15 min walk into Chester town. Booked again for next year we enjoyed it so much.

Great couple of nights in the queen at Chester hotel. Room nice and spacious, all staff friendly and efficient. Evening meal was pretty good, breakfast was really good. Location next to railway station so about 10 mins walk into city centre. Rooms facing the street had a little road noise but nothing too bad. Would stay again

This was a great deal via Myhotelbreak. A well positioned hotel with good facilities (we might have wished for a swimming pool but at this price unlikely). Really nice restaurant food with competent and friendly service. We enjoyed the Edwardian charm and quiet luxury of the place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Queens Hotel. The room was lovely. The services were ok, the only complaint being we paid extra for a better room and facilities but thought the snack tray inadequate. Why when there are 2 of us was there 1 packet of crisps, 1 two finger KitKat, and a packet of Cranberry,sultana and white chocolate snacks.This causes some arguing over who has what. Apart from this our breakfast was good with plenty of choice. All reception staff were very polite and provided safe keeping of our case before and after checking in and out. Will certainly look at Hallmark hotels in future.

Lovely break staff very friendly. We stayed in a superior room and it was lovely. Food quite basic but can't complain as we got a really good deal on this.
