New Lanark Mill Hotel Self-Catering Waterhouses, New Lanark

Spent 2 nights in Waterhouse 3 with our grandson. We had 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and single, the other with 2 joined single beds. This gave him the choice to sleep in our room or on his own. He is only 8 so chose our room. I'm sure thought went into this when allocating the apartment. Cons The apartment is obviously dog friendly as there are scratches on the doors and a few stains on the lounge carpet. Also the main door was difficult to close, you had to slam it which isn't fair on the neighbours. Although minor and didn't really bother us. Pros The setting. The apartment sits over the River Clyde which you could hear running from all the rooms. My grandson loved sitting at the window watching the river flow alongside us. The apartment was spacious with everything you could possibly need provided. It was very clean apart from the stains on the carpet. The bedrooms are also spacious with everything you need provided. The beds are very comfortable and all 3 of us slept well. We have stayed in the hotel many times but this was just our second visit to the Waterhouses which I would highly recommend. All staff we encountered were very helpful and polite.

Really enjoyed our stay in the Waterhouse cottage, very spacious and felt freshly decorated. Food in restaurant was a bit mixed, some portions particularly the fish were very small for the cost. Staf helpful though. Apart from the lovely weather my highlight was a super full body massage I received from Jill. It was excellent and really added to my stay.

We had a wonderful stay. Friendly, helpful staff and a spacious, spotlessly clean cottage. The surroundings were tranquil and beautiful. Exceeded our expectations and suited our family exceptionally well. Will certainly return. Thank you ?

Had a wonderful stay in waterhouse 6. The view of the river from every window was amazing. The house itself was spotless and very well equipped. Will be looking to book again before the end of the year.

Very clean and very comfortable.We are elderly and it didn’t really suit us.Very steep stair down to bedrooms and only one bathroom upstairs.No WiFi in cottage so we had to go to hotel lounge.No mobile signal .Had to walk away from the buildings to get a signal.Next time will stay in hotel because location is good.

Having stayed at the Waterhouses and the hotel several times before and totally loved it, I have to say this time we were very disappointed. Had the deluxe waterhouse, but it certainly wasn't deluxe. No towel radiator, but holes on wall where it should have been, toilet roll holder may as well been non existent as it swung round 360°, no glasses downstairs for the toothbrushes, had to ask for toilet roll on first day, pathetic excuse for hairdryer and to top it all our water went cold when my daughter was in mid shower!!! They did rectify this by offering us the Waterhouse next door (which did seem a lot better) however with only 12 hours left to stay we felt it was lot of effort to go to, so she just borrowed the shower. We went for dinner in the hotel and it was excellent service in the first night and extremely slow the second night due to a member if staff taking too much time with 1 certain couple. Will definitely be back to give them another chance because I know they can be awesome but think they need to get their act together as standards seem to be dropping!!!

Staying at the Waterhouses is the best of both worlds. Eat in the Hotel or Cafe. We did cafe for breakfast and hotel for evening meal, no rushing around in morning for breakfast. Appartmentbwas well set up for preparing meals there too. So relaxing lying in bed listening to the river rushing down stream.

Stayed in a Waterhouse which was very comfortable.The restaurant meal was superb and extremely good value.Particular praise must go to the polite and helpful staff, especially the receptionist on check out who informed us that our car had a flat tyre and told us where the nearest garage was. We have stayed at the New Lanark Mill hotel before and will certainly be back.

Stunning location. The Waterhouses (more like cottages than apartments) are located within the stunning New Lanark World Heritage site, and are themselves sited over (yes, over!) the rapids of the River Clyde. The constant sound of the river Clyde rushing by was a wonderful background to an overall outstanding experience. The apartments are generously sized and well appointed, and we would have enjoyed staying here even without the attractions offered by the World Heritage Site.
