Damson Dene Hotel, Bowness on Windermere

Very welcoming once we found it. Needs more signs on access road. Would award 10 for all categories but shower inadequate. That aside we enjoyed our stay very much.

The Damson Dene Hotel is a hidden gem. It feels a world away from the hussle and bustle of Windermere but only 5+ miles in the car. A tranquil spot. Set amongst fields. The grounds itself will really come into bloom in the late Spring/Summer. Lovely little pond with red footbridge over. The opportunity to see the miniature village also. Lots of outside seated area for the warmer days. Service from all staff is 5 star, very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic both in the afternoon and on the evening. For those who like a log fire, it is there as you enter the hotel. never got an opportunity to enjoy it, as there were others there. Never got the opportunity to use the pool etc. Noticed the 3 pods with their own hot tub, which looked cool. Our room was nice,clean and with a reasonably good hot shower, overlooking a field where we watched the farmer off load some sheep and their new lambs. We will definitely be back it truly is a hidden gem made better by the staff and food.

Spent two enjoyable special nights at hotel. Although room was small the bathroom was large and so well equipped . Very clean and excellent staff . Our view from bedroom window was lovely countryside and we would recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel fabulous location staff excellent and food and restaurant and bar very good.However the room was small and the bathroom was way too small.We did have a view and yes we would return but to another room.The hotel is dog friendly and our pet was made welcome.

Hotel staff were Excellent. Only fault being rooms were basic only one chair, no room service, bathroom no clothing hooks, no safety handles in shower/bath area. Room far too small for old style four poster bed as pillars blocking viewing of Television. Standard very poor for a 3 star hotel as advertised. No fruit available on breakfast menu. .

Stayed here for 2 nights. Thk u to Kate for being so nice. The hotel is beautiful. The food was amazing. The barman couldnt be any nicer. The views from our room was fantastic. 5* the pool etc was amazing. Id love to go back. Thank you so very much for haven us.x

Had a lovely stay here, the hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly. The only down side was that whenever u left reception u could feel the temperature drop. The corridors and the rooms were really cold. They brought us a heater which helped. The food was delicious

Fabulous dog friendly hotel, lovely rooms and very clean.Food fantastic and areas available to dine with your dog. Staff very friendly and accomodating , nothing too much trouble.Enjoyed the pool and spa and lovely gardens to walk the dog .Highly reccomend

A very enjoyable and relaxed weekend spent in pleasant surroundings.Great food,excellent facilities and very pleasant /attentive staff. This will not be my last visit to this hotel. Some areas were a little tired but overall superb value for what paid.

On arrival we were so pleasantly surprised to see about ten Christmas trees all lit up and decorated in the lounge it looked so inviting. We had a very comfortable room which was very clean and with a good view out of the window. The staff are excellent and the food was also excellent.we have visited this hotel on and off over the past sixteen years and we intend to keep coming as we enjoy it so much.Thanks to you all at Damson Dene

Stayed here 24th-25th November in room 1, the break was for our 20th Wedding Anniversary and what a lovely Hotel it was. The hotel reception is the cosiest we have ever encountered, and looked welcoming with the log fire and all the lovely lit Christmas trees. The facil were fab, we thoroughly enjoyed the use of the leisure centre, with the Pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. the food was lovely, homecooked and very good quality. It was nice to see the Manager getting stuck in to the work as well, waiting on at breakfast time. Our stay felt more like being a guest in someones home than a hotel at times which we mean as a big compliment. i would say to anyone who has a complaint about this hotel to get a life. We will definitely be going back to stay again, we can't wait and would recommend it to all our friends and family.

We arrived quite late to check in but we were greeted well nevertheless. It's a quirky hotel with a lot of history, very close to Windermere Lake with lots to visit just a drive away. The staff of the hotel was great and people like Flavius made our stay better. If you're looking for a quiet getaway with good facil and great staff, Damson Dene is the place. Definitely will be looking to come back.
