A beautiful early 19th century Georgian Country House with manicured grounds, formerly visited by Royalty, and associated with the famous Leyland Motors. The bed was comfortable, the room well appointed, with the full range of Freeview channels. All the public rooms were beautiful, particularily the dining room. The meals were delicious, and portions generous. We had 2 courses with our DBB deal. Be aware that a service charge is automatically added to drinks and other extras. We find this practice a little irritating, and makes the drinks additionally expensive. In summary, while not a cheap option, this is a unique hotel well worth the experience. We will visit again.

Good fresh cooked breakfast. Honesty of housekeeping, had left item in room and was phoned promptly and item posted to our home immediately. Reception welcoming and efficient. Have not stayed in better hotel in area.

Second visit to the hotel and will be using for future business trips. Location is great and staff are pleasent and helpful. Bar is great for relaxing in the evenings And rooms are specious. Not a modern but then you would not expect of a listed building

Visited here for a meal and overnight stay, was very impressed! The staff was very friending the building was very clean and room was very comfortable. The service in the restaurant was excellent and the food was nice and well presented, great value for money! Following our meal we went for a short walk around the grounds which was stunning and I could see this being a great venue for a wedding! Several places to park Could not fault this place

Although slightly outdated this only adds to this hotels charm. We arrived and were checked in in a friendly and efficient manner and given our room key (room 8). This was huge adding to the stately home feel. The room and bathroom were cleaned to a high standard with a plentiful supply of tea and coffee. The evening meal we chose was the Sirloin Steak which although we always liked it cooked well done was still juicy and tender and left us wanting more, Holly our waitress was very polite. The full English breakfast was nice but could have done with two sausages instead of one and maybe button mushrooms instead of one large one. Overall a very satisfying stay and one that I desperately needed.
