Beautiful old hotel with great friendly staff. Had stayed here over 5 yrs ago as its in a fantastic location with great viewa.On arrival you could see that some external work had been done ,this was sympathetic to the building and continued inside. Every member of staff we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Our room no 15 was spacious ,warm and clean with a large comfatable bed and hot shower The carpet had a few stains but was nothing to worry about. The buffet breakfast was hot,plentiful and enjoyable. A lovely short break in an excellent location

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights from the 3 Sept 2025. We had an excellent stay. Lovely hotel with lots of original charm, wonderful maintained gardens, and close to the bus route to Ambleside and Grasmere. Hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly. Would recommend the hotel as a great location and definite value for money.

We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions. The reason being, that in our opinion, we have always thoroughly enjoyed our stay each time Friendly, professional and hard working staff, excellent food, with a wide choice, clean, warm and comfortable rooms. In fact we would not go anywhere else, when visiting this area. I can’t praise this hotel enough!

We have stayed at The Windermere Manor Hotel several times, and the whole experience keeps getting better! From the moment we entered the hotel until we left, everything was excellent. Extremely friendly, courteous, helpful and accommodating staff. Excellent hospitality throughout. Our room was first class, serviced each day too. The food was also of a high standard, with multiple choices each time. My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending this venue, whatever the occasion!

Enjoyed our stay at the Windermere Manor Hotel, staff were friendly and attentive. This hotel is ideal when travelling with a dog, during our stay there were at least 8 dogs including ours and all well behaved.

Lovely stay, great good, great location, booked the deal which included bed, breakfast and dinner each evening plus an after tea. Reception staff really welcoming, will definitely be returning. Is a dog friendly hotel but all very well behaved ? Rooms a little tired but would definitely stay again

A wonderful break at this hotel. All of the staff and I mean all of the staff from the general manager to the cleaners were the most pleasant I have experienced in a long time. The service we received was absolutely perfect in every way, the restaurant served great food at great price and the barman come waiter from Sunderland was brilliant and very friendly. Would recommend this as being a wonderful place to stay and a good central point. Would have preferred a king size bed if you want to hear a negative but that is all you will get.

Wonderful hotel. Nice clean rooms, staff helpful and very friendly. Food was excellent. Great location for exploring the local area. Only negative was we didn't receive our free bottle of wine. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Hotel was good only concern was we were dinner bed and breakfast with wine we have stayed at numerous hotels with this deal they said the wine is to the value of 15 pound never had this before and the only wine they had started at 16.95 not a lot to pay but we have never had to pay anything before .If I was management buy some cheaper wines in as a lot of residents were on the same deal.apart from that stay was ok.

Nice hotel, clean comfy, friendly staff. We would stay there again if in the area. Hotel rooms were large. The dinner servings were enormous, too big in my opinion, however, food was lovely

Fantastic setting for hotel with views of Lake Windermere across the road. Room in annexe which was situated at rear of main building. Very spacious, clean room. Dinner and breakfast-cannot be faulted. Friendly service throughout stay. Will visit again.

On arrival we were given very poor directions as to the location of our room which was in the annexe at the rear of the building. We assumed from the directions given that the entrance was at the rear of the main building as the annexe was not visible to us at that time. (The room numbers sign was obscured by bushes) Eventually we located our room open and waited for the key to be delivered shortly afterwards. No soap, no sink plug, half used toilet roll on holder. Went for a swim in spa which is in dire need of an update. No one in attendance, changing rooms consisted of a room with a toilet and a few hooks on the wall! No seats or lockers, so don't take anything valuable with you. No hair dryers, no soap in dispensers next to communal showers in front of pool. Evening meals were good but more than one item was not available on the menu. Poor choice of breakfast items with practically no fresh fruit available. If you like sausage, bacon, beans, scrambled egg and dry brown's you'd be happy. Cereal in boxes which was Ok but no natural yoghurt. On the whole, a bit disappointed in the tiredness of the building which is in need of a good refurb to keep in touch with today's expectations. Won't be returning.
