hotel really needs updated the only thing about our room was the view from it which was lovely to wake up to bathroom black mould and door kept hitting sink and hole in door. no room service had to ask for towels etc. busy hotel not enough staff to cope. with amount of people

Overall the hotel was tired looking and in need of updating. The food was good and couldn't be faulted but there didn't seem to be a system to serving guests in the dining room whereby some people were left sitting for ages while others were served.

I have booked numerous breaks through my hotel break and this is the worst hotel I have stayed in. Pubic hairs found in shower and bedroom wasn’t the cleanest. No complimentary toiletries in bathroom. When we opened the window it was full of cobwebs. Waited 45 minutes both mornings at breakfast before we were even offered coffee and toast. Numerous other guests also complained about the service. Breakfast products not the best quality. When we complained we were told they were short staffed. On checkout we were asked if we enjoyed our stay. Apology given for the state of the room and that it would be taken up with housekeeping staff and manager agreed with us that the restaurant service should have been better. Apart from apology no compensation offered. Only positive point was the view over the bay from our bedroom

Had a great stay at the Great Western Oban. We upgraded to a seaview room and what a view we had! One slight hiccup, on the confirmation email it said check-in time was 11.00am, we arrived around 11.50am to be told check-in was 3.00pm. It was fine as there were plenty of parking bays at this time as quite a few people had checked out at 11. Parking is limited, allocated on a first come first served basis, £6pn. Fantastic food in the restaurant and lovely hot breakfast. Really comfy beds and a friendly, helpful staff. Great stay

Stayed 3 years ago and glad we came back. Lovely superior room on 2nd floor with sea view. The staff are amazing and helpful. The food is really good and tasty. Short walk to town and some lovely bars and restaurants. Enough shops to keep me going. Had a wall up to McCaigs tower but the hill isnt for the faint hearted. Thanks again to all the hotel staff for a wonderful stay.

Just back and have to say what a huge hotel; bit run down but was getting done up as we were there, staff were all brilliant, especially the receptionist from Sheffield who upgraded us to a huge room free with massive window looking out to the bay where we sat looking out on the sofa having a nice drink , all restaurant staff great too.

Room was very clean and the view over the ocean was unbelievable. The place is old and creaky in a good way. Close to town, walk to everything and a decent breakfast. I have no complaints i would stay here again and recommend it.

Very nice room with sea view, good hearty breakfast. room clean, comfortable bed, could benefit from some redecoration in some places. Facilities in room good.

The restaurant staff rate of work and attention was outstanding and the Chef’s continuous refreshing of hot breakfast items and standard of meals was excellent. There was an air of genuine care and concern from all of the hotel staff even those under training strived for perfection. Only what sadly affects all of our old 19th century Hotels in that the requirement for general upkeep and maintenance seems to be a never ending losing battle - but it is being fought here.

Warm friendly welcome from staff. The hotel was aged elegance which we loved. Breakfast was excellent , with great service from staff , dinner was very good and great value. Relaxed friendly bar good atmosphere , would come back again soon .
