Dinner service was poor. Young staff did not seem to know what table they were serving.

The break was very good as far as room was concerned. Unfortunately with regards to restaurant which we booked dinner for every night, first night dinner service was not good it took over two hours for us to be served our meal. On the second night we were not down for dinner we were told, I had booked every night for 7.15pm but they had to put us in again it was over 2 hours for our meal to be served. Night three again not down, and after I told him that this was confirmed twice now, he said sorry we have nothing but if you come back at 8.15 he would put us in. We did and once again service was atrocious, main meal plates were cold and food was not much hotter. When my husband got his sweet the plate was frozen and the chocolate on plate was also frozen to plate. I ordered my sweet at start of meal , but was now told they had none of my choice left but they could give me cheesecake. It also took them 2hours 15 minutes nearly to feed us. I again went to reception, complained again and was told that I could not even get my booking for the fourth night at 7.15 but they would but me in at 6.15pm. We settled for that and on that night we got served in 1hour 15 minutes. Now why could they not sort that out for every other night. It was absolutely disgraceful.

Room upgrade was a nice surprise but glad I didn't pay extra for it. A bit worn in places Evening meal delicious Breakfast lukewarm and disappointing(almost broke my tooth on the brittle tattie scone !) Staff warm and friendly, though the breakfast staff were a bit stretched Overall, I would recommend if the breakfast improved

Had a voucher for 1 night dinner, bed & breakfast with bottle of wine in room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Social distancing was well labelled, hand sanitiser available in many areas and felt very safe. Although pool etc open we were unaware prior to visit, so did not use. Room large and very clean and wine delivered within 5 minutes of check in. Evening meal excellent, but breakfast disappointing, choice good, but some items cold or overcooked, probably due to meeting covid restrictions. All in all really enjoyed break and will be back. Only down side hotel very "tired" looking, decor needing updated etc.

Excellent 2 night stay here. Room spacious, well appointed and very clean. Food fast class served in exemplary manner by efficient and friendly staff with preventive measures against Covid insitu making us feel comfortable. Extremely good value for money with offer. Would certainly recommend.

We had a great time here. Socially distancing was well adhered to . Ashley the restaurant manager was fantastic. The bar prices are extortionate. £3.14 for a dash of lemonade in our whiskey. As an example. We were in a golf view room. The shower was huge and we also had a bath. The rooms were a wee bit tired though .the lift was broken and we had to do 2 flights of stairs. However this was the 1st weekend away for us after lockdown and we had a great time.

arrived at the room and was very disappointed looked like some had lay down on the bed , stains on the ceiling and walls , lampshapes dirty and dusty .also table and chairs dusty at this moment in time with covid about thought hygiene would be paramount? could have put up with all above but on entering the bathroom was disgusted to find a used tissue on the bathroom shelf . would have left the hotel and found somewhere eles to stay if it was not for having friends staying at this hotel . staff did move us to another room which was better but still dusty and tired looking also £20 bar voucher given . would never stay at this hotel again

Great break with fabulous really attentive staff! It was our first venture out since lockdown and we felt very safe. You have to wear masks in the hotel open spaces except for the restaurant and bar. A bit uncomfortable at first but you do get used to it, and all of the staff have to wear them 24/7 so think how much worse it must be for them! ??They work extremely hard to ensure you have a wonderful stay. The food was excellent and we had a lovely upgraded patio room which I would highly recommend. I requested one of these rooms expecting to pay for this but they upgraded us for free , as it was originally booked in May for our 32nd wedding Anniversary. Some lovely walks right outside the hotel and Peebles is a lovely wee town. Well worth a visit! We can’t wait to go back!

The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The young man on Reception (I think Adam) worked really hard to please guests; he went above and beyond his job. The dining room staff also worked really hard and did it with smiles. The food was very nice. The room was very clean and overall there was a nice atmosphere in the hotel.

Hotel clean, most staff helpful and trying hard but still some way to go to make it feel overall covid safe. Biggest problem is with other guests - number and behaviour - not socially distancing, not wearing masks in pubic areas etc. Hotel seemed to have way too many guests for the size of the public areas. Dining area tables well spaced but bottlenecks in and out. Had to squeeze past people in the queue to leave breakfast. Buffet area, queue to get in, pillars and (only) way in and out all in the narrowest space which is under 2m wide anyway. In old the normal' its good and would have enjoyed stay. In the new normal, too busy and needs other guests "following the rules" to make it feel overall safe

Had a great 2 night break last day of July and 1st day of August. Staff are doing an amazing job under the covid restrictions. Check in was a little slow and packed continental breakfast on 1st morning wouldn’t have been our breakfast of choice. Restrictions changed on our 2nd day and the cooked breakfast was lovely. Cleaning staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Would return.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and I can fully understand in the current climate that there are a lot of changes. The only thing I felt let them down was there was no one to make your bed and clean your room each day as I can understand that with all the social distance and all but there should of been a note in your room explaining this! Also on our arrival the bin had not been emptied and contained dirty tissues the room was very dusty and I actually cleaned it with my antibacterial wipes!. The staff where more than helpful and where working especially hard and under staffed! The poor receptionist seemed to very overwhelmed and seemed as if she was doing more than just reception work! She was very professional and helpful but under a lot of stress. I fully understand that it is all a time of adjustment for us all I enjoyed my stay but I think a big chain of hotels such as Macdonalds should be doing a little bit more. It has not put me off going back but I think and hope as time goes by they will get it right. And I would just like to thank all the staff under these trying times. ?

Very pleasant staff and excellent adherence to Covid provisions. Breakfast however was a very poor experience and bar prices for limited options were absolutely ridiculous. None of these negative comments are reflections on staff who were a credit to the hotel but would suggest some improvements at this time are necessary.

we had a nice enjoyable stay ,even got an upgrade with the room overlooking the golf course only down side is the bar is a bit pricey for drinks and the cooked breakfast could have been better (the omelette was over cooked and the poached eggs were hard) , also £15.00 per night to let the dog stay is a bit much considering there is no dog bed or treats . That said we would go back .

Rooms very clean with some overlooking the golf course and others over the hills. Restaurant had a wide variety of food which arrived prompt and hot. Staff very friendly and attentive despite the restaurant being very busy. Leisure facilities clean. Would definitely recommend.

An enjoyable short break at Cardrona. Visited this hotel previously & would return. The majority of the staff are very pleasant & helpful indeed, especially the restaurant team. Sorry to say I can't be as complimentary about the older guy on reception. Very dour & offered no info regarding hotel or room. Good to Gen.Mgr visible. Room comfortable as you'd expect if a little tired. Plenty of scuff marks on the wall, worn chair, but great bed. Breakfast really good. PlenTravelling with our dog, so unfortunately only sampled bar-food. This was ok, but it's choice & quite pricey. Good that the hotel take dogs & they can sit in the bar but daily charge is a liberty - deep clean will be excuse but should only be 1 charge per break not a nightly charge! Especially when you notice the dust in corner of your bedroom. Excellent leisure & golf facilities. Nice walks in the old rail track. Pebbles worth a visit & close to a host of other Borders towns.
