Hotel was not prepared for us as we had book just the day before,everything was good ,a bit disappointed no buffet breakfast and extra charge for egg benedict,also felt the drinks were very expensive and the restaurant staff should remember resedents are not a inconvenions but the reason they are their,on a plus the reception staff were very nice and the hotel setting is beautiful

The bedrooms were lovely but very warm. No aircon. This class of hotel would benefit from mini fridges or ice machines on each floor.

Asked for a nice room next to golf course and got what I asked for. Nice break bed we had was a bit lumpy and housekeeping need to step up a notch window frames and sills really bad just a few minor things.

From stepping through the front door until we left 2 nights later, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely stay, enjoyed playing on the golf course, and would have no hesitation in going back again. It was a super mini break.

A very pleasant break overall. The staff were excellent, a lovely pool (some adult only time would be appreciated), nice room and excellent breakfast. The dinner sadly was very mediocre and uninspiring. Only one vegetarian option and though I am not vegetarian I felt this was a poor show. I took the fish which was raw in the middle and had to be sent back. My friend's chicken was very dry. A big disappointment as I stayed here 5 years ago and the food at dinner was superb.

Hello, lovely hotel with a calming atmosphere in all levels. The location of hotel is so handy for visiting other local amenities, golf and having the cycle path so close to hotel. The bus service stops at hotel with a wave to the driver, super indeed. Peebles is so close, only two miles away. We both will defiantly visit again soon. Only small minus point is small portions for such a large plate at evening dinner times. Kind regards, Francis

Upgraded room:- bare patches of carpet where no pile left. Water marks down wall where a leak has been and some shocking paint touch ups to cover. Patio doors did not lock properly as catch broken at top. Hairs found in bath. Dining:- mix up with main meals in kitchen which left 35 minutes between starter and main. Chose to add pepper to my main once delivered and as one grinder marked "s" I chose the other which was blank and found once on food another salt and had to scrape salt off food as I have no added salt on any foods. Spa resort but had no large bottles available of still water for retiring to bed. Breakfast had no pepper in shaker, overhead other table had 2 pepper shakers. Found a waiter to be picking off scraps of food and eating it from guests plates who had left dining area. When leaving informed receptionist of complaints and was told the manager was on holiday and was not offered another member of staff, assistant manager, who could de could deal with but was told to write my contact details down on my notes of complaint and expect a call from the manager when he is back, from date of stay to manager return is 12 days, totally unacceptable!! Would not stay at Macdonald Cadrona again!

Hotel and service ok food from the restuarants left a lot to be desired and the time to be served over an hour not really good enough.having said that head waiter did apologise.

Overall the hotel was very nice, lovely setting with some nice views and the facilities were very good. The one thing that let it down and this was something that a lot of guests were talking about was the service which was clearly obvious on the 1st night. Our evening meal was booked for 20.15 and by 21.15 we had just had our starter, now we don't what was wrong as there was adequate staff on duty and nobody seemed to be interested in explaining what if any was the problem. This might have just a small blip on the night as on the 2nd night with our dinner booked for 18.45 everything went smoothly.

This was a last minute booking. We were absolutely delighted with all aspects of the trip - the golf was great, the spa was very relaxing after the golf, the food in the evening was delicious! We will definitely be back. Thank you

There was some initial confusion re our upgrade but staff quickly and pleasantly resolved this for us. The staff were a credit to the hotel in all areas.

We don't usually stay in such large hotels,but despite its size,all staff were very friendly.and the reception staff were extremely helpful.On arrival,we found the earliest dinner time available was 8.45,which is rather late for us. Unfortunately,our main meal was not served until an hour later,which meant our meal was not completed until after 10.30,which was not conducive to a good night's sleep! We have no complaints about the restaurant staff who were busy throughout,although one waiter told us it was not one of the busiest nights! Perhaps the kitchen staff were over-stretched. Golf facilities were not available on the full- and driest - day of our stay,which was a bit disappointing for my husband. That was the main reason I had booked this break,with the offer of a free round of golf. Could information about unavailability of the course be made at time of booking enquiry?

Had a nice stay food good hotel nice scenery fab, but unfortunately the boiler had broken flown and at the spa we could not have a shower as the water was cold, it also affected the whole hotel so could not have a shower or wash your hair in your room either so had to have a wash in fold water and go to dinner with chlorine in our hair. The dinner was good but Also disrupted because of the boiler breakdown 2 hours and we had not had our sweet. We ended up having it delivered to the room. It was a pity this happened had it not everything would have been perfect. Would not deter me from going again and hopefully have a stress free night.
