The Riverside Hotel in Kendal is a converted 18th century tannery which is set on five floors. This 3 star hotel has a stunning setting as it sits on the banks of the River Kent beneath the ruins of the town’s 12th century castle.

When looking for accommodation in Kendal the Riverside hotel offers a choice of 58 ensuite bedrooms including two small suites. There are 7 'fur-free' bedrooms added to compliment the existing 51 pet-friendly rooms.

Dining at the Riverside Hotel is a real pleasure. The à la carte menu offers a wide choice, using locally grown fresh produce whenever possible, some of it from the Victorian kitchen garden in Grange-over-Sands. The team of chef's can cater for any dietary requirements and offer a special menu for children.

Guests of the Riverside hotel can enjoy use of the hotels Sanctuary Leisure Cub facilities during their stay. Facilities include heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub, gymnasium and exercise studio.

All of the bedrooms at the Riverside Hotel are spacious with en-suite bathrooms. Most bedrooms have river views and each room includes a hospitality tray with drinks and biscuits, a television with Freeview, free WiFi, direct dial telephone, hairdryer and ironing facilities. Safes are available upon request.

Spacious Family Room feature a double and a single bed and can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child or 3 adults.

THE BELLINGHAM SUITE
Overlooking the River Kent, the Bellingham Suite offers a combined bedroom and living area where you can work, watch a 32" TV and dine via room service.

This room also benefits from a large, modern bathroom.

The Riverview Restaurant is proud to have its own kitchen garden, which supplies as much quality fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs as it can, all grown using organic principles. The Chef takes great care over his suppliers and ensures that meat is traceable.

Cumbria and North Lancashire has a fine band of farmers and producers using the best skills to produce the finest local produce. Here at the Riverside they are proud to associate themselves with their fantastic produce and the menu celebrates their traditions. Each dish is made fresh to order so we hope you find something to tempt your tastebuds.

All residents are welcome to dine with us, as well as non-residents so make sure you ask your friends and family along to join you. Residents staying on our Dinner, Bed and Breakfast tariff are invited to select their choice of starter, main course and dessert from our à la carte menu. Please be aware, dishes marked * carry a small supplement for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast residents.

THE TANNERY BAR & BISTRO
The building dates back to 1626 and, as the name suggests, was originally a tannery and home to renowned makers of leather for 250 years.

The Tannery Bar & Bistro offers a wide selection of tasty pub food with daily specials.

The bar area provides a good alternative for those diners preferring a more relaxed atmosphere or those wishing to eat with their dogs alongside.

On warmer days guests can take a seat on our balcony overlooking the river and see if they can spot any passing otters.

Food is served in the bar at lunchtime, 12noon-2pm and again in the evening 6pm-9pm

The Gym
At the Sanctuary there is a fully equipped state of the art Fitness area with high performance cardio equipment including Treadmills, Bikes, Rowers, Stepper and Cross trainers.
Resistance machines to work every Body part and a free weights and stretching area with gradual weights up to 40 Kg Dumbbells and 250Kg Barbells.
The fitness team are all trained to NVQ level 3 fitness instructors/personal trainers or higher and will provide all members with expert advice and one on programmes designed to meet your specific needs.

The Pool
The Pool is 10 meters in length and 1.35 meters deep, It is set at a warm temperature between 29-30 degrees. It also has the children's pool which is shallow.
The Spa is set at 40 degrees and seats up to 8 people with relaxing bubbles or more powerful side jets.
We also have a Steam room with essence lights and eucalyptus scent, and a Sauna for those who prefer dry heat.

If using Google Maps or Sat Nav to find us, please enter LA9 6FS as the destination postcode - this should bring you direct to our front door. You will find our covered car park a further 30 yards down the road on the left, the barrier will lift automatically upon approach.

For those of you who prefer the tradional method of following written instructions, here they are...

From the Motorway:

Leave the M6 at Junction 36

Follow the dual carriageway signposted for Kendal and take the first exit for Kendal Town Centre. Join the one-way system along Highgate. Turn right into Lowther Street and continue on the one-way system.

After passing the bus station on your left, turn right at the traffic lights into Sandes Avenue.Go over the bridge and past the Peugeot Garage, then get into the right hand lane to turn right at the mini roundabout.

Keep going right past the County Hotel into Wildman Street. Just before the bridge, turn right at the zebra crossing into Beezon Road and the Hotel is on your left.

From Windermere:

Follow Windermere Road into Kendal past the County Offices.At the traffic lights turn left into the one-way system along Sandes Avenue and past the Peugeot Garage on your left, then get into the right hand lane to turn right at the mini roundabout.

Keep going right past the County Hotel into Wildman Street. Just before the Bridge, turn right at the zebra crossing into Beezon Road and the Riverside Hotel is on your left.

The Lakeland Climbing Centre offers superb indoor and outdoor rock climbing. There is even a beginners area for those who have never tried it before.

In addition to a cinema, the Brewery Arts Centre presents a year round programme of events, performances and exhibitions in all art forms.

GOLF COURSES
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to local golf courses. In Kendal alone you will find Kendal Golf Course which is an elevated course, plus and Carus Green Golf Course with its recently remodelled greens. Slightly further afield you will find Windermere and Kirkby Londsdale Golf Courses, or some something a little more relaxed there is a beautiful little 9 hole course at Crook.
