Below are a selection of the hotel’s favourites but do speak to the knowledgeable and local staff for more suggestions.

G2 Outdoors
G2 Outdoor offer you everything you could dream of to get outside and enjoy the fabulous Cairngorms. Activities include white water rafting, mini rafting, canoeing, kayaking, hill walking, rock climbing, mountain biking, gorge walking, canyoning plus skiing and ski touring, winter skills and snow and ice climbing during the winter months!

Walk Highlands
Walkhighlands is a free online resource for walkers in Scotland and features well over a hundred routes in the Cairngorms area, all with detailed descriptions and mapping.
Local routes include Craigellachie, Loch an Eilein, Loch Morlich, Speyside Way and Ben Macdui.

Cairngorm Mountain
A great year-round day out, from skiing and snowboarding during the winter months to hill walking and extreme sports during the summer months up ‘the hill’ is an experience not to be missed.
The funicular railway is a unique Scottish visitor attraction and carries sightseers from the car park at 635m to the top station at 1097m which is just 150m below the summit of Scotland’s 6th highest mountain for spectacular views.

Cairngorm Reindeer Herd
Reindeer are for all year round not just for Christmas so why not join them out on the hill during the summer months with a hill trip organised by the keepers? Hill trips continue into the winter months so make sure you are dressed warmly and enjoy an afternoon out in the wilds with these beautiful animals before they head off to help Santa on his various guest appearances in the run-up to the festivities.
For the less able there are also paddock visits available and these are equally as suitable for children as well.

Cairngorm Brewery
Within walking distance from The Cairngorm Hotel is the Cairngorm Brewery which brews its own creations from well-established beers to seasonal cask beers and bottles. Using traditional recipes you’ll find many of their ales on tap in our bar area.
Fancy a great afternoon out and want to leave the car behind, well why not take part in one of their brewery tours that include sampling the wares of course?

Golf In The Cairngorms
We are ideally placed for you to play the 12 courses in the Cairngorms National Park and you’ll find a selection of 9 and 18-hole courses around Aviemore all with different levels of play and all with amazing scenery to make your round truly perfect even if your game isn’t!
The Cairngorm Hotel is ideally placed for a group of golfers looking to play several courses over a number of days, with our bar and restaurant meaning you can relax at the end of the day with a good pint of local ale and a hearty meal to round off your round.

Strathspey Steam Railway
Take yourself back to a bygone era and enjoy a nostalgic train ride in restored carriages hauled by one of the railway’s steam locomotives. The Strathspey Railway operates heritage railway services on nearly 10 miles of the former Highland and BR line from Aviemore to Broomhill.
Wonderful views of the Cairngorm Mountains and the River Spey and the chance to see much of the diverse wildlife in varying habitats along the line. The stations retain the character of the 50s and 60s reminding travellers of how things used to be.

Cairngorms National Park
The UK’s largest National Park and we are right in the heart of it here in Aviemore. We have native forests, rivers, lochs, miles of moorland and a fabulous mountain range all here in the Cairngorms and it’s ready for you to explore.
Lots of outdoor activities, hills to climb, rocks to scale, golf to play, rivers to fish, picnics and beauty spots and there is absolutely something for everyone no matter your age or ability.

Rothiemurchus
The stunning surroundings of the Rothiemurchus Estate give you the perfect backdrop for every conceivable outdoor activity. Perfect for groups, individuals, corporate gatherings and family outings you are sure to find something to do! Choose from archery, wildlife photography, and 4×4 off-road driving.
