We enjoyed our stay at Cally Palace very much. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The food was excellent and the service was very good and the staff very personable and attentive. A great place to stay.

A lovely old hotel set it a very quiet location. Our room was large, very traditional and extremely clean, with a nice comfy bed & pillows. The bathroom had lovely white towels and good quality toiletries from The White Company. On the downside, 2 things I dislike….. a shower curtain & a wooden toilet seat. The staff, in all areas, were all very pleasant and helpful, and the service was excellent. The dining room is large, bright and has views over the large garden. The food is of exceptional quality and very well presented.

You state room available from 2:30 so my husband was going to help me into room with luggage before he played golf on their course at 3pm which was booked in advance The hotel would not give us our room until after 3pm not even checking if it might be available even when I showed confirmation from you that it said 2:30. So I had to check into room after 3 but could get my luggage in until after 6 when my husband could carry it from car. Other than this the hotel and deal was amazing

A most enjoyable stay at a first class Hotel. We were in room 70 which has lovely views of the golf course. However - the wallpaper was coming away from the wall above one radiator and there were some stains on the carpet. However we shall return at some time in the future.

So many excellent things about this hotel - the beautiful grounds and golf course , ideal for wandering around or a walk into Gatehouse village (20mins). Inside the hotel lots of restful areas , large lounges , conservatory, and smaller cosy rooms ideal for relaxing with a book etc. A great place to come for a rest. Our room was large with dated decor which didn't detract from the comfort of the room. The staff here are exceptional, all very pleasant and chatty and professional. My only criticism was the food which we found very average - perfectly edible and filling , but nothing to rave about. We had a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant on our 2nd night. The location is ideal to visit all the nearby towns and tourist attractions.

Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Staff in bar and restaurant very friendly and food was fab. Our room was large and very comfortable. This was our second visit to the Cally Palace and we will definitely return.

We had a fabulous break. Previously visited 10 years ago. Even though it has been updated, still has lots of original features. Very grand place. We will hopefully be returning at some point.

We had a great break the room was clean and really big with great views number 16 on ground floor . The food was excellent as was the service from all the staff I would have no hesitation about recommending this hotel . And we intend to go back soon the leisure facilities are excellent

Beautiful hotel and a really comfy room. The breakfast was delicious and so was the bar snacks for lunch but I am afraid the evening meal was not. My husband order a sirloin steak as it was from a local farm. It looked nice when it arrived and the head waiter asked if everything was ok. My husband had only taken a bite of the steak so we said yes but as he ate more the steak was full of grizzle so when the head waiter came back for the plates I told him about the steak and he rudely replied I asked you already if it was ok. How are you supposed to know at the start of the meal there was going to be grizzle running through it. We went home after looking at the menu on the second night as there was nothing we liked.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay. Staff are wonderful and very attentive without being obtrusive. I wasn’t well for a day or so, and the fact that staff took time to ask how I was feeling, was thoughtful and caring. We celebrated our Anniversary there and again, we’re treated to a decorated dessert wishing us a happy anniversary! My only concern was that when I booked I am sure the information said one step into the hotel. I have looked again just now and it says 15 - has this been altered recently? The reason is I would not have booked knowing that, as I have mobility issues and climbing stairs is hard. Sadly although our room and en-suite were very accessible, there is no provision to help get from reception to the room level. We were told there was a ramp at the back of the hotel, but we couldn’t park there, so I would have had to walk round - again quite difficult - and then I beleive there are steps after the ramp. Could there be a chair lift installed at one side of the staircase? There was a good bannister but I couldn’t have coped without my husband’s help. Once on the level we enjoyed the hotel’s beautiful rooms and apart from the accessibility issue couldn’t fault our stay, and would like to return if there were some changes made to accommodate mobility issues. Traditional hotel. Good size room and bathroom but not great shower. Staff friendly and service excellent. Food was 4 course meal which was a la carte maybe not totally to my taste but my husband really enjoyed the food. Good leisure facilities and nice grounds

Stayed for two nights, but only one shampoo and shower gel between us,Room not cleaned at all, when we asked why, we were told an e-mail had been sent about it, we did’nt get one. Had to ask for clean towels, milk etc We have been to three other hotels this year and had no problems. Service in restaurant very good but quite regimented, did’nt like the pre order, and felt main courses ,,at dinner quite small, we also had ice cream for dessert and were charged £3 each, most places don’t charge. Staff on the whole were lovely, apart from reception, where only one lady was really nice

We had a lovely relaxing stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The building, itself, is impressive and a lovely change from modern plastic. Our room was large and had a balcony overlooking the golf course, where we sat in the sun. We enjoyed the use of the pool and Jacuzzi. The food was delicious, hot and always fresh. The venison was superb. The service in the restaurant was very efficient, even when busy, but always friendly and polite. We shall be back

A lovely old property which is well appointed both inside and outside. Our room was spacious and clean. All the staff were friendly, polite and attentive. The meals were well presented and delicious. Our stay was very pleasant and relaxing.
