Had a fantastic stay at Loch Rannoch Hotel with my wife where the pool, sauna and steam room facilities were very good and the food for evening meals and breakfast were of a very high quality standard. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a break. Only minor comments was that the service was slow at times for breakfast and items were not replenished in a timely manor. Would put this down to how busy the hotel was at the time. Also we only received one bit of bacon each with our three lovely buttermilk pancakes which was a bit diss-appointing. Would also recommend providing a biscuit or chocolate treat in the bedrooms to accompany the complimentary tea and coffee facilities.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome. Our hotel room was spacious and comfortable overlooking Loch Rannoch. The public areas were comfortably furnished and it was really cosy sitting by the log fire. We dined in the Estate Room which is a beautiful dining room serving gourmet food. It was absolutely delicious and well presented. Breakfast in the Rannoch Larder was hearty and fulfilling with plenty of choice. The staff throughout were friendly, courteous and helpful.

I found the rooms to be very cluttered witnecessary oversized pieces of furniture which took up to much space in the room. The shower and toilet area was very small. I have stayed at nicer hotels with less star rating. Very busy restaurant but staff kept up with food delivery to table without much delay. Not a hotel I will be returning to.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rooms were first class. Food delicious & surroundings beautiful. Log fires burning in the evening so cosy. 1 & only disappointment was first visit to the pool about10 am to find it cold & not as advertised heated. When pointed out to staff was told it was at imum temperature of 29 degrees & not allowed to go higher. She did however start up the sauna & steam rooms which were like ice boxes at that time. Second day at the pool was like night & day as pool was heated this time but did start to get cooler after a while but again sauna & steam rooms not turned on & there was no one at reception in spa plus no one answering reception at the hotel. We had to ask someone leaving the spa to inform staff at the hotel about this. After a while staff member appeared to turn on facilities. This is something which needs to be ready for any early morning people wishing to use the facilities.

Hotel was very nice, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Main fualt was that in the older rooms in the hotel (we were in room 24 and two of our friends were in 27) the toilets were very small. I don't have great mobility and I found it difficult to negotiate the space in the bathroom. One of our group was in 201 which was much bigger with a large bathroom.

Beautiful hotel and location. Room was small but really nice, bathroom nicely decorated but the size of a cupboard, very hard to get dried in after shower. Burger was delicious at dinner, breakfast looked lovely but I couldn't eat as was luke warm when I advised staff member he laughed and said plate was warm but when I said food wasn't he discarded my comments. Ended up with a pastry and slice of toast as he walked away with plate. I must admit this part of service was not what I would expect particularly from 4 star hotel. I had to ask for robes, slippers and for sign for room door as these were all missing. Shame as it was such a beautiful place.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. Staff were lovely and friendly and really make you feel welcome. We had a lovely room with a great view looking down the loch. Everything was clean and well maintained. We had dinner in the Wild Brownie, food was really good and portions huge. Live entertainment on Friday night. Breakfast was lovely, buffet continental and good selection of cooked items to select from. Lots of activities for the adventurous, lovely pool. We unfortunately did not receive any housekeeping despite being out all day however this was quickly rectified with fresh towels, toiletries and toilet paper being delivered to the room. There were no towels at the pool area and no staff on hand when arrived at pool, this was early evening, but there was staff on hand when finished swim. Beautiful location and would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Loch Rannoch Hotel. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable, modern and clean. We had our dog with us and I always worry that "dog rooms" won't be as clean. I had nothing to worry about. The room was spotless. Our dog also got a bed, a towel, biscuits and a bowl. He was also offered sausages for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. Not a big choice on the menu but the food we did have was lovely. We would definitely return.

Lovely hotel in a lovely spot. Room was great and clean. It has staff shortages mentioned in other reviews which has closed one of the restaurants In saying that the staff wprked very hard especially Shannon and Craig for myself. Food was great couldnt fault it. Pool and spa was excellent very clean. Visited a few places nearby some were closed due to staff shortages. The Dunalistair hotel in Village wouldnt serve me a drink in an empty bar as I was not a resident. Not very hospitable to visitors so well done to Loch Rannoch hotel

Spent a lovely weekend here ,made all the better by hot sunshine all the time. We had a big contemporary room with comfy beds and seats and a great view. Excellent tea/coffee supplies which were replenished generously, and still and sparkling water in the room. The food throughout our stay was of a very high standard and we thoroughly enjoyed dinner and breakfast. Staf very attentive ,quick service. We visited the spa and enjoyed the pool and steam room and sauna, very relaxing. As the weather was so good we enjoyed walking round the Loch and sitting outside with a beer.It may have been difficult to fill the day if the weather had been bad though, and you definitely need a car to get around. I would happily stay here again .Some of the decor is a little tired looking, but the fantastic food and great staff more than made up for it.

Had a lovely couple of days at the hotel, room was large and very comfortable with beautiful view of the loch. We decided to eat in the bar and I think that was a mistake, my food was awful, we did complain and got the price of the wine taken off but I would rather have had a nice dinner! Bar was cold and dogs allowed in which is fine if they don’t smell! Room was being cleaned when we came back from breakfast (which was amazing) and they just carried on, I have never come across this before, was a bit awkward. I would definitely go back, it’s in such a beautiful setting.

Lovely setting overlooking Loch Rannoch. Food and service in the restaurants and bar were very good. We booked specifically as the hotel had a spa but we’re sadly disappointed. The boiler had been broken for a few days. The pool was freezing. Only the sauna was functioning properly and the lounge area was letting in water through the roof. Housekeeping was chaotic. We didn’t get our room till 4.45. Our room was not serviced after that. Reception and housekeeping don’t seem to communicate with each other.

Following the effects of Covid, we have lowered our expectations of service and quality due to some hotels having been closed or run on a skeleton staff. Loch Rannoch Hotel has recently been upgraded in some rooms and the decor is nicely done - although our room (26) was extremely small as a result. With an ottoman that wasn’t required and a tea chest with the condiments etc the size of a small double drawer filing cabinet taking up yet more space. Not necessary. The w.c. in the en-suite was rammed into a small corner - and although we are of average build, anyone who would be, shall we say, rotund or more would certainly have struggled if they required to sit down, if you know what I mean. The staff were mostly friendly with about ninety per cent being helpful and the other ten per cent giving the impression that they didn’t want to be there. Very few of the staff seemed to know how to “serve”. Friendly - but not trained. An example of this would be an apparent lack of interest in maintaining cleanliness in public areas. We saw staff walking past tables with dirty crockery or glasses on them, public toilet areas that for the 2 days of our stay had overflowing bins and empty tissue boxes and a snooker room that had not been cleaned from the night before with dirty glasses and tables. The food was very good and the breakfast buffet was average but more leaning towards the “ok” side than not. Would we return to this hotel? Well, I take you back to how I started this review. Covid has had far reaching ramifications in the service industry. And if we had stayed in this hotel and had rendered this review before Covid, we would probably not return. However, hopefully - with the help of this review and no doubt others as well, I would expect professional management to take on board the enclosed comments, share them with the appropriate management and staff, and rectify and encourage betterment in the way the hotel is run. And as such, and under these cirstance, we would probably give the hotel a second chance. PS Make sure you check out the temperature of the pool, as it was freezing. And no-one told us about that. We witnessed a family with young children getting all excited about going to the pool only to get changed into their costumes etc and then the parents decided that it was too cold to let the kids into it. How disappointed do you think the kids were? Reception said that there was a fault in the heating and an engineer was coming on the following Tuesday. Would have been nice to share that with guests before they derobed, yeah?

Thank you for your thorough feedback, we are always looking for ways to improve the experience for our guests. Whilst covid has certainly caused difficulties across the hospitality industry with staff shortages etc, and we are no different, we apologise for the issues faced during your stay which have fallen short of our high standards of service. Rest assured, we will be looking into this further and hope on your return, you will see the improvements we have made in the true experience of staying at Loch Rannoch Hotel.
